Fairies Are Not Bugs! [Active]

Character(s): Tinkerbell, Timon
Content: Tinkerbell vs the furry striped jerk. GO!
Setting: Jogo da Crianca
Time: Morning, Week 34
Warnings: None.

Tinkerbell had resigned herself to the fact that she was in this strange new world without Peter Pan or the Lost Boys. Luckily, Sora was here and she'd already made a couple of good friends, but she felt a bit trapped. She wanted adventure, excitement! Fairies weren't meant to just sit idle on book shelves.

So flew out of her new home and out into the fresh air of the city, trailing golden dust behind her. She laughed as she shocked some of the townspeople, mischievously zooming into their vision or tugging a sleeve here and there. Eventually her flight pattern brought her to the park, the only place under the domes that had even a trace of the wildness she was used to -- and even that was carefully groomed and meticulous.

Hovering low over the grass, Tinkerbell made a lazy loop, trailing golden dust behind her before she landed gracefully.

Timon resisted the urge to groan. Of course he was grumpy. He was tried, he was hungry, and he had been forced into something he didn’t want to do. Doing something and wanting to do something were two completely different things, almost as different as it felt to be carrying someone on his back for once. Timon could not recall a time he had ever done so. Even when he had lived with his colony they had not trusted him nearly enough to be a babysitter to the pups.

“You don’t want their cooking, trust me. It’s, shall we say, an acquired taste. I wouldn’t be surprised if Flonne’s cooking were actually banned somewhere.” The meerkat stuck out his tongue in disgust. “It might look editable but that’s the last thing it is. Bugs, on the other hand, ain’t ever done me wrong. Except for that armoured cricket. Boy, had Pumbaa ever been sick after sluggin’ back a couple of those. Poor guy, all I found was they had a funky taste and were they ever messy! What, uh, do you eat?”

Somehow, eating insects on a dare failed to surprise Timon. Once he had spotted two young lion cubs doing the same thing, daring one another to eat the largest ones they could find. It was amusing now but at the time he had been far more concerned with what one would dare the other to eat next, especially if it concerned him. “Don’t worry about it.” He assured Tinkerbell at her offer. “The only bugs here are outside the city and I don’t trust those. Somethin’ about them just ain’t right.”

His gaze casually wandered up to the pixie, or at least tried, as he contemplated the feeling of someone resting on his head. She wasn’t heavy, but he could certainly feel her there. It was odd to say the least, though that did not necessarily mean uncomfortable.

“I’ve never tried those, just berries. I kinda had to make a switch when I came here. They got a lot of sweet stuff here for you, though. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding something to eat. There’s this stuff called chocolate they got that’s really good. I can’t eat it but maybe you can.”

Tinkerbell couldn’t see it but Timon looked absolutely horrified. Was she hugging him or trying to choke him? He stopped paddling, notably turning stiff. Who’d have thought the mention of chocolate would get a reaction like that out of the pixie? She must have really liked the stuff if the thought of it alone had pulled him into her embrace. But he was unsure what to say, if anything should have been said at all. Timon had never been in this sort of situation before, nor was he sure he wanted to again.

He tried to look back at Tinkerbell but quickly changed his mind before he could. “Uh, yeah...” the meerkat replied with uncertainty, a chuckle following. “I thought that… Well, I once…” What was he even trying to say? And why weren’t they going anywhere? Clearing his throat, Timon tried to focus his thoughts. “Just, yeah.” He drew a sigh and began to paddle awkwardly through the sky again. Timon had not noticed but the pair had risen a little higher than they were before.

“It’s not that bad.” The meerkat replied in regards to his nose. In typical Timon fashion, he had played it up for far more than it was. But even if it had been that bad, it didn’t compare to what he had done to her. As he opened his mouth, an apology lay on the tip of his tongue before another thought took its place. “You don’t have to worry about anyone else trying to eat you. Me and Pumbaa are the only real insectivores.” Simba was too, of course. But he was oddly not one to think with his stomach as much as Pumbaa and himself.

“Do you normally go between worlds?” Timon asked. He recalled a time the Doctor had tried to explain worldly travel. There was something about a spider web and how breaking it would be bad. Did she know a different way then him? “Why can’t you stay either? Not that I blame you for not wanting to, I’m just asking.”

Neverland, what kind of dumb name was that for a place? He debated asking how children were supposed to fly there but came to the conclusion it was under the same influence that he found himself under now. Darn pushy fairies. Timon glanced over at her, felt Tinkerbell brush up against the side of his face, but continued to face forward. He hadn’t the courage to turn to look at her, especially when she was so close. It made him nervous when he could so easily contract cooties.

And that was exactly what he suspected the pixie of doing when she reached to touch his nose; infect him with cooties. As instructed, Timon came to a dead stop and watched, practically cross eyed, as her magic began to work. There had been little room left to argue, the throbbing in his nose having vanished as quickly as the glow that had surrounded it. He reached to touch it experimentally before sneezing.

“What did you do?” he asked in astonishment. “You didn’t give me cooties, did you?”

“It’s not?” If that hadn’t been how to contract cooties, did that mean she still knew how to give them to him? Timon tried to look over at Tinkerbell but failed. He could feel her move onto his back again and felt frustrated by his inability to see her face when she spoke. Pumbaa must have felt this countless times when they had first met, though he had never said anything of it, typical of the warthog.

Timon was not comforted by the pixies response of magic having healed him. He was growing to be familiar with it but that did not mean he had to like (or believe) in it. It was unnatural and for many reasons unnerved him. Maybe, in this instance, it was better they couldn’t see each other's faces because Timon did not look nearly as thankful as Tinkerbell likely imagined.

“Yeah, I know. You don’t need to rub it in.” He gently poked his nose and frowned, knowing full well an apology should have followed his words.

Was that what did it, kissing? He tried not to shudder at the thought but had no such luck. At least now he knew he had yet the get cooties and how to avoid them. He had been about to ask how effective the cootie shot really was when she spoke again, her tone having changed rather sudden.

“Um, yeah.” Timon replied, curious as to what had altered the mood. “Sure.” If Tinkerbell refused to say anything, however, so did he. The meerkat moved in silence, hoping the Doctor would know how to fix what he had done. He was a doctor, wasn’t he? He was supposed to fix stuff like this, right? Timon tried to focus that and ignore the growing guilt that he felt for hurting the pixie. He had never done anything like this before. The thought that he could hurt someone so easily frightened him.

Timon quietly settled on Sora’s bedroom windowsill, landing far more graceful than he had predicted. Of course, compared to the way he had taken off, just about anything would have been more graceful. The room appeared vacant, even though the window had been left open. Maybe it was better that way. He glanced around the room a second time before making a move for the bed, a happy thought at the ready.

“Somebody here has got to know how to fix you.” He said, sitting up so that the pixie could slide off his back and onto the bed. “Just stay here and… Uh, rest. It’s probably for the best you don’t try to strain yourself or anything. I’ll see about getting someone to come over and check on you.”

How she could possibly trust him after what he had done boggled his mind. She had absolutely no reason to. He was dangerous, something he hadn’t considered himself other than to those he lived with. Dangerous to his colony because of his lousy digging skills and lack of concentration as a Sentry... His ties to the Organization, and once the Resistance, here that had resulted in the kidnapping and harm to his friends. Timon glanced back at Tinkerbell. It was probably for the best he left, he could cause less trouble that way. But even then something told him to stay, that nagging little voice in his head most called their conscience, Timon called Pumbaa.

“I’m gonna check if anyone is home.” Starting with the kitchen, naturally. While the meerkat did intend to look, he also intended to eat. Sora was, unfortunately, about to experience a kitchen raid. Timon was still hungry and Tinkerbell had promised him something to eat. “I’ll be back.” He told her, sliding down from the bed. Hopefully he’d have someone who could help with him by then.

Timon hadn't meant to do it, NiGHTS reminded herself as she flew swiftly through the city, headed for Sora's place. Accidents happened and people got careless - not least NiGHTS, who often forgot about what she was supposed to be paying attention to in order to go off and play. Even so, Tinkerbell was incredibly delicate, like most small creatures seemed to be, and it was hard to believe Timon had actually managed to hurt her. But it looked like he felt bad enough already, and NiGHTS had already given the meerkat a scolding over the journals earlier.

She just had to find Sora. Sora could help Tinkerbell. "Sora!" she called, swooping down over the town homes, searching for her friend. "Sora, where are you?"

It wouldn't be long before NiGHTS would run into Sora, thankfully it won't literally this time. He had seen Timon mention that he had brought Tink to his place, so he had rushed on home to see if he could help her.

On the way up to his place, Sora came across the odd purple being calling out for him in the hallway. "I'm right here, what's wrong?"

She was one of the people that had replied to Timon about Tink, so hopefully that's why she was looking for him and not something else.

NiGHTS was relieved when Sora answered. "There you are!" she exclaimed, flying in his direction. "I wanted to come and find you. You've got healing magic, right? Will you be able to help Tinkerbell?" She'd heard Sora's voice over Timon's post, and even though Sora didn't know NiGHTS any more at the moment, she still considered him a friend. Hopefully, Timon and Tinkerbell had stayed at Sora's place and not moved somewhere else, though she doubted they would leave with Tinkerbell's arm and wing in the condition it was. Hopefully, Tinkerbell would be alright.

"Yeah, I think it should be able to help Tink." Sora couldn't be sure of that, since he didn't know the condition of Tink's injuries, but his magic was strong enough that it likely didn't matter.

NiGHTS nodded. "In that case, they should still be at your place, right?" Maybe she needn't have worried so much; Sora would take care of Tinkerbell. Even so, it wasn't like she would just leave Tinkerbell now. "I'm still going with you," she decided, crossing her arms and waiting for Sora to lead the way - she had never been to Sora's place before, and it wouldn't do to rush off and risk getting lost when Tinkerbell needed them.

Sora ran off in the direction of his room, beckoning for NiGHTS to follow. His room wasn't that far off.

When they made it to his room he called out, "Tinkerbell! Are you in here?!"
