Keep Me in Suspense [Active]

Character(s): Wolf and Remus, Later Scar
Content: Since Scar has became potential threat. Wolf and Remus decide to get together and plot out before confronting the lion about the rumors they’ve been hearing. But will thinking before pouncing really help them?
Setting: The WildKat Coffee to eventually close around the area of City Hall.
Time: From Twilight into the Evening
Warnings: Possible violence with Scar later.

Wolf could recall the time Scar told him about how heartless can be summoned. The darkness of one’s heart, it was during that time his heart was full of rage and fury. It was possible that it was his own heart that would have some elements of darkness. On the other hand though, Timon said he couldn’t pick up any traces of darkness on him. So that led open to the question of who was it that summoned the heartless that night? It certainly wasn’t Zidane, and from what Timon had told Wolf. Scar certainly seemed to be the suspect.

It was almost out of guilt that Wolf felt like he needed to tell Remus about this. Though he didn’t tell him the detail of how the heartless could be summoned. Wolf felt like he should probably mention that too, but a feeling lingered in his heart like a stone. After all, he still felt like he might have something to do with the heartless that night, Timon might be wrong after all. And it really was him who summoned them without knowing, like Scar told him.

Though really, Wolf’s best bet was to trust someone who seemed more like a friend. And that someone was Timon right now. And Remus… Remus was also his close friend, and has the right to know things like this. Wolf waited outside the WildKat Coffee, hands in his pockets. He just finished drinking a cup of coffee from the place, and waited against the side of the building as he waited for his friend to arrive. Scratched the back of neck in anticipation.

It didn't take long for Remus to appear from around the corner, fully dressed in his school robes with his wand secure in his pocket, at least for the moment. It wasn't hard to pick out Wolf from the crowd, as the native inhabitants of this place all seemed to be blond. He grinned and waved as he picked up the pace and jogged over to his friend.

"You mind if I go in and get some tea first?" Tea always went well with a conversation, no matter what the topic.

Remus grabbed his tea after paying for it and followed Wolf to the table. He couldn't help but feel a little homesick at the moment. It was just all too often that he, James, Sirius, and Peter would find an out-of-the-way spot to work on the Marauder's Map or work on them becoming animagi.

He took a sip of his tea. "So, what's going on?" He made sure to keep his voice low, but to also try his best to make it look like they weren't up to anything serious. He had learned how to do so the hard way thanks to Professor McGonagall.

Remus' stature remained in a relaxed state, but his facial expression got pretty serious. "They can be summoned? That would mean that whoever can would have control over them, right?" If that was the case, then that would mean that Zidane was on someone's hit-list. All of a sudden, the picture got much more complicated. Remus wasn't quite aware of the situation in City Hall, but if it was run by people controlling the shadows...the heartless...

He frowned. "No you didn't. You don't have control over them, do you?" It's not that he didn't trust Wolf. Honestly, he just wanted as much information on these things as possible, and if Wolf could control them, then maybe they could be used to their advantage. If not, at least they'd have a better understanding of them.

The darkness in people's hearts? To Remus, that didn't make much sense. What exactly was this darkness anyway? Was it just a culmination of negative thoughts or feeling people had? There wasn't really anything like this where he came from.

However, the stuff that Wolf was saying was a bit more important at the moment. He sat up, sipped more of his tea, and shrugged. "I don't know anything about this 'darkness in people's hearts,' or, 'traces of darkness,' but if you really summoned those things, wouldn't you have been able to control them?" He paused for a second, trying to figure out if his theory had any merit before saying it. "Think about it. These heartless or whatever come from the darkness of people's hearts. Wouldn't it make sense that you'd have control over them since they would have come from you?" That was definitely something worth investigating. It certainly seemed that Wolf didn't like the idea of summoning such monsters, and Remus couldn't blame him.

Remus had thought that they should start with Scar, though now he was thinking that maybe Timon would know enough to get them started on figuring this stuff out. A meerkat would be far less dangerous to meet in the streets than a lion.

"Hey, calm down!" Remus' voice was still hushed, but it was also stressed. He was still more than uncomfortable about having either of their...secrets escaping to the public.

"That's why I wanted to see Scar. We might be able to get him to talk." Remus pulled his wand out of his pocket and twirled it in his fingers, both to show Wolf that yes, he was armed, and two, to cast a spell on Wolf to get him to calm down if he didn't do it himself.

Remus also liked the idea of planning ahead. "I know the Patronus spell. Where I come from, it's used to ward of dementors. It doesn't kill them, but it can chase them away. It might work on the heartless if they come from darkness." Remus also had many other spells up his sleeve. Some might not have any effect, but then again, there had to be some that could get rid of them too.

The wizard took a last sip of his tea. "Alright, so we've got a lion that may have the ability to summon these heartless. I've got my wand, and it doesn't look like you need a full moon to transform." Remus paused and gave Wolf a weary look. "Can you control yourself when you do that?"

"I think we can manage." Remus pocketed his wand again. He was glad to know that Wolf had control over his 'wolf-side' most of the time, though it seemed it got out a little every now and then. He was able to suppress it when Remus told him to calm down, and that was enough for Remus.

"We've still got a problem though." Remus pulled out the journal and brought up the map. "We still don't know where he is."

That's right. Wolf had a strong sense of smell, even though he was still in human form. Remus still didn't know what to think of that, but it would definitely prove helpful here.

He also remembered people mentioning the corruption in City Hall...

"Sounds like a decent place to start. Let's go." Remus stood up, trying to look as casual and relaxed as he could. There was no reason to alarm anyone, especially considering that he had no idea who could be helping the people in City Hall. He walked out the door, hands in the pockets of his robes and strolled towards their first stop.

Remus wanted to smack himself. How could anyone miss something like this?! Himself included! "It looks like they had Severus in charge of the decorating."

"Maybe we should stay outside for now and see what we can find." Lions were creatures of the outdoors, and going inside looked like a very, very bad idea. It'd be best if they could refrain from having to go inside. "You don't happen to smell any lions around, do you?" Remus' smell only improved during the full moon, and even then, it wasn't of any use to anyone, considering he turned into a bloodthirsty killing machine.

"You don't, do you?" Scar asked as he silently crept from the shadows. "What an unexpected surprise." His muzzle broke into a toothy grin, the light provided by the streetlamps glinting menacingly off the points. He advanced further, claws rapping against the cobblestones with each step.

"Tell me, what brings the two of you to such a miserable place? You two definitely don't look like you would enjoy it here for very long." A certain mocking in his voice undercut the feigned sincerity. He hadn't expected anyone to find him here, and their very presence irked him. And not only that, but the worry that they would discover anything further about him and his role in...recent events had his mind desperately scrambling.

"Just a fellow student from Hogwarts." Then again, maybe even Severus wouldn't be able to take this kind of decoration. I was dark, but it lacked and air of sophistication that Slytherins seemed to enjoy boasting about.

He frowned at Wolf's words. No recent scent? Well, if Scar wasn't here then it would be best to head back...

Remus jumped and spun in the direction of the voice, one that he recognized from a previous encounter. Remus didn't hesitate to draw his wand from his pocket, though for now, he kept it pointed at the ground. If there was going to be any violence, he surely didn't want to be the one starting it.

"Just gathering some information that might be useful to getting back home is all. You've been here a while, haven't you? Maybe you could fill us in."

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-04-05 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
That was one of the questions Scar had been hoping to avoid. He twitched a little, a corner of his mouth pulling back into a slight sneer. "Summoned? I told you they're attracted to darkness. I wouldn't know the first thing about how to summon them." A blatant lie, but since it didn't sound any different from the way Scar always spoke, an extremely difficult one to pick out.

"If you listened to all those people talking about the Heartless on the journals, I am not the only one who knows that. Did you think to check on that, Wolf?" But he was becoming sorely tempted to summon a few of the shadowy brutes to teach these two to be properly afraid of him.

[identity profile] cantfytmoonlyt.livejournal.com 2011-04-05 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
"If they're attracted to darkness, then surely, someone who spends a lot of time here like yourself should know a thing or two." Remus wasn't going to be swayed away that easily. He had known both James Potter and Sirius Black for six years now, so he had learned how to play these kinds of games.

Remus twirled his wand in his hands. "Besides, your timing when it came to that tailed boy was pretty impressive. Of course, it must have been coincidence." Remus had come because Wolf had called him there. Why would the lion be stalking there in the middle of the night if not to catch some prey? The slime in this lion's voice could be collected in a bottle. Remus wasn't fooled.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-04-05 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Coincidence? I was merely worried about Wolf." The lie came easily to Scar's lips, just like every other one. He was closer to Wolf now, able to smell the half-human's fear. It really was quite a disgusting smell, not one he found pleasant at all. And it wasn't nearly so much fun as it had been with Hook.

Remus, however, was very quickly grating on his nerves, though the boy's words were met simply by a dismissive sneer.
