Another lion is exactly what Paixao needed [Active/Open]

Character(s): Vitani, and whoever finds her
Content: Vitani is trying to familiarize herself with her new surroundings
Setting: Muspelheim gate
Time: Afternoon,
Warnings: None
Since it's her intro log, I'm gonna go ahead and mark it as multi-thread "party-style"

Then again, it wasn't often she suddenly ended up in a entirely new place, with no idea of how she got there. Vitani had at one time acted as a scout, she knew her directions, where she had come from, how to get back, but Paixao was something entirely new. So, what better thing to do than explore a bit, look around and see what she can find? Which should someone happen to run into her, is exactly what she's doing.

Walking along the streets, she stays out of the way, along the curbs of the walks ways she goes down. Best to not be too conspicuous. She occasionally pauses, sometimes because something like the shiney leaves of the plants caught her eye or because someone walking by got a bit too close for her liking. But then it's only a second before she's wandering around again, just as curious and cautious as before.

After a while, though, she finds a spot to sit down, tired of walking. So, Vitani simply rests a bit, taking a deep breath to try to locate a familiar scent and sighing somewhat irritably when she can find none.

This will be continuing off from the first subthread. :)

A thirty minute train ride wasn't that bad. It would take much longer walking all the way over to the gate. At about halfway to Muspelheim, he spent most of the time thinking how crazy it has been between him and Marco. How could he be in two different places at the same time, back home and at Paixao? It just wasn't possible. Besides, he showed Marco that he had no chimpanzee morph. All the speculation about his memories or some of his morphing being blocked was just a little too much to take in, on top of all the odd stuff going on in this city.

He also thought about Vitani, of course. He was sure this lioness (or perhaps an actress in a huge furry lioness costume) wasn't responsible for killing an innocent woman. She just arrived to Paixao. This wasn't really of his business, but he wondered if Vitani would know who was responsible in spite of that.

Maybe it was a better idea to not bring it up. It would cause him to stay longer than necessary. If he was out too long, Marco would no doubt go looking for him, in gorilla morph most likely.

Just chill, and not get so close. Everything should be fine, he told himself. Vitani sounded civil over the journal network. She seemed to accept his help without any objection.

Jake stepped off the train with the potato sack in hand. He had to shake all the dust out and find a pair of scissors to make handles. The gate itself was just a little farther. Walking and looking for either a nutcase or the actual lion from an animation he vaguely remembered didn't feel so suspicious in a place that had Illusion-Fog and people walking around with literally no hearts. That sort of thing must have happened a lot in this bizarro world.

...As he saw the big and open gate entrance looming above some buildings ahead of him, he moved through a crowd of the native blonde citizens he dubbed as "Nobles" for only how they dressed. They weren't actually noble in the slightest sense. Jake didn't pay any attention to them or what they were talking about, as they paid no attention to him. In heading past the line of shops and other places he recognized, he believed he heard Vitani's voice. Barely. Jake stopped, as he saw not just an actual lioness, but a male lion with her.

They're real. They sure looked like African big cats all right, as he looked surprised in standing several feet away from them. They were speaking in words, not roaring--what about, he felt unable to guess at.

"Yeah...that's pretty much it, I guess. Do you want to go back with me and meet with Kiara? You two should probably catch up too." Kovu stood and turned to lead Vitani, but stopped when he smelled a human. Before all that stuff on the journals that his Mother had caused, maybe he would have just walked right by without worrying. But this guy was staring straight at both of them.

Kovu planted his front paws firmly on the ground and bared his teeth.

[identity profile] jakethetigerboy.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Mostly, his gaze was on the male lion who was looking pissed. Not good. The lioness--Vitani, had to be--spoke to him warily. He certainly recognized her voice.

He nodded to her, his own voice not with him during that very moment. The sack he found for her could be easily seen, as he was holding it in front of him. ...I somehow doubt she'll let me become lunch meat. From what he first noticed, they looked like they seemed to know each other.

That didn't mean he couldn't unglue his concerned focus on the unknown lion--that might have looked a little familiar. The mane on the guy lion looked as dark as a certain villainous lion Timon had mentioned was here. The body fur too. Yet, for the sake of staying alive, assuming anything wouldn't be wise.

"So...who's your friend," Jake asked, not even trying to conceal the nervousness in his voice. He's been in several terrifying situations, but the risk of being attacked by a male lion while exposed as his true self happens to be way worse than being around a kid as a male lion while transformed into a Siberian Tiger.

Kovu's gaze flicked over to Vitani when she said a name, and then he backed up a few steps when the human responded. At least this was one human he wouldn't have to worry about. Any lion could smell how scared he was from a mile away.

"I'm Kovu," he answered, even though Vitani was the one who'd been asked the question. He was slowly letting himself relax, but he was still on edge. He'd heard about some really weird stuff that some of these humans could do over the journals, and that kept him wary.

[identity profile] jakethetigerboy.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Jake relaxed, at about a hair. The fact that they were talking was a little better, rather than having to try and outrun the both of them.

He felt a slight smile coming on, and it felt weird to him. That nervousness around Kovu in particular wasn't going away just yet. This was partially because of his respect toward the big cats. And seeing the amusement on Vitani's expression? Well, Vitani never exactly has seen a human before. Jake had a guess as to what she could be thinking; how odd and weak looking he was by appearance in contrast to herself.

And how is it that he couldn't be falling over without having a tail to balance himself? Ax, a very bizarre cross between a blue horse, human, and a scorpion, had pondered aloud about that before.

"That's good. You have family around here... Some familiarity is better than none." He ignored how slightly higher than usual his speech sounded. "Nice to meet you, Kovu."

He let the potato sack drop to the ground between him and both lions. "This should be of some use to you, Vitani. Make some things a little easier in Paixao."

"Speak for yourself," Kovu muttered under his breath. This place would be far better for him if his mother had never shown up. And Scar...was definitely worse. It still felt really weird to him to think of Vitani herself as family, but then...family meant something much different in the Outlands than what everyone else seemed to know.

He looked at the bag Jake put on the ground. "What's that for?"

[identity profile] jakethetigerboy.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"It can be used to carry other items, too," Jake suggested, gradually adjusting to having a conversation with two talking Disney lions. "It's what a lot of humans have been doing, using whatever glitters or shines as payment for food, medicine, and other things."

...A thought came to him out of nowhere. I think... Didn't Timon mention some of the lions' names besides Simba that one time through their communication over the journals? The awareness of that only flickered through his brown eyes. Nothing very noticeable.

Kovu hadn't spent much time around humans, but Kiara had told him about the leaves. Not that it made any sense at all. Why would you take something that was just sitting there right next to you as payment for anything? It's not like there was anything keeping the people in the stores from going out and getting all they wanted on their own.

"You're going to look pretty stupid carrying that around with you," he felt the need to point out. Not like she wouldn't have done the same anyway.

[identity profile] jakethetigerboy.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Marco would have said the same thing Kovu said. Both ways, he felt he could agree. There were no cops or any kind of law enforcement around that prohibited stealing--but Jake knew better than to just take something.

He didn't just accept his share of Paixao currency from Kida without saying he would pay her back. That's just how he was. Whenever someone helped him, he would make sure to pay him or her back later.

"It doesn't matter much to me if you decide to make good use of it. I didn't want to just throw it away either."

He only decided to do this for Vitani for a purpose better than to go out and only answer his curiosity about her as well as the other lions, and Timon.

[personal profile] thescaronhisface 2011-03-14 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Your choice," Kovu said with a shrug. "I just always grab them as I go inside, if Kiara isn't the one getting stuff." The humans didn't exactly like having lions in their stores...

He'd never had to carry that much stuff around with him at one time that he would need something like that.

[identity profile] jakethetigerboy.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Jake listened with interest, knowing during circumstances in which he had to go out and buy something, he hadn't noticed any of the lions. Didn't see Timon or Pumbaa either. (Fairly soon, he'd have to ask Vitani and Kovu about Timon.)

He'd never been around anyplace long enough to. By now, in constantly being on the move during the day, he has seen all there was to see in this city. He morphed as little as possible to prevent unwanted attention, since he still didn't know for sure if there were Controllers around.

[personal profile] thescaronhisface 2011-03-15 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"I never go in with her. I just wait." That shouldn't sound too out of the ordinary for Vitani, since Kovu had pretty much always been brought his food even in the Outlands, being the "Chosen One" and all. That didn't mean he wasn't good at getting food for himself, but unlike his brother he could afford to be more lazy about it, like most males would be.

"Whenever I do it I just ask them to bring me some meat, and give them the leaves. It's not too hard once they stop being scared of how easily I could kill them."

[identity profile] jakethetigerboy.livejournal.com 2011-03-16 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Another lion had recently killed and eaten one of them," he explained. "I'm probably one of the last to know about it. Do either of you have any idea who could have done this?"

Not that he wanted to get directly involved--but knowing the identity of the culprit would sure be for the greater good of keeping himself and Marco safe. Possibly others, too--like this kid he chatted to through the network earlier. Toboe was feeling very worried over what happened.

Also, knowing the good lions from the bad ones wouldn't be such a bad thing either.

Kovu cringed, but said nothing. He wasn't about to tell some random human that he was related to the lioness who'd attacked someone. Just the mere fact that he was a lion was making things hard enough. Letting everyone know he was Zira's son? That wasn't going to happen.

He held his breath, hoping that Vitani didn't know, or if she'd learned already that she'd keep her mouth shut.

[identity profile] jakethetigerboy.livejournal.com 2011-03-16 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Jake noticed Kovu cringing when asking the question, but he didn't press it. Something about that told him Kovu knew who it was, but he must have his reasons to be silent about it. One of his brows slightly rose for a moment, but then he let it be. That didn't mean he was okay with that--but hey, he had bigger things to worry about.

Could always ask someone else, or just wait and find out the info, Jake concluded.

So, change of topic? "...I have one more thing to ask, if that's all right. Just something I'm a little curious about, but it's no big deal if none of you are not up to that." He might as well try to end this meeting, for his part, on decent terms.

Kovu breathed a sigh of relief. He was more than grateful to have that subject glossed over like that. The last thing he wanted was some human prodding him about his mother.

"What is it?" He didn't sound very enthusiastic, but then, it would probably be hard to get him to sound enthusiastic about anything at that moment.

[identity profile] jakethetigerboy.livejournal.com 2011-03-16 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
He at first thought to ask Kovu directly, but then again, maybe asking the both of them would be okay. "Do either of you happen to know a meerkat named Timon? It was a while back when he and I went into a conversation over the journals..." He chose to be a bit careful on how to mention a bit of what they talked about. "There was a rather close call I experienced, having to do with a really unnatural fog that used to appear every night."

Jake could have brought up Scar, but to have a confirmation about Timon being somewhere in Paixao would be enough. It was decided right then and there to only go further into a false alibi when there's no dodging around it.
