An unexpected and abrupt disturbance. [Closed]

Character(s): Axel, Kadaj.
Content: Axel and Kadaj... turn into animals!
Setting: Savage Garden.
Time: Thursday afternoon.
Warnings: ...knowing them? Who KNOWS what.

After Axel had completed Kadaj's "transition" they had spent quite some hours just talking, with Kadaj's body held close to his. Axel greeted the comfort of someone else with enthusiasm; it was a missed comfort of having someone fawn over him in that means. He'd told him about the Organization, their mission... but he hadn't mentioned to Kadaj that he had not originally been a Nobody. Of course not.

But all things must come to an end. It had happened abruptly; Axel felt their bodies shifting slightly, when he hadn't been aware he had chosen to move. He looked down at Kadaj and his eyes had widened as large as saucers, and instinctively he jerked backward, the fur bristling on the back of his neck.

Wait, what?

Never mind Kadaj, Axel looked down at his form and let his jaw hang open in surprise, letting out a surprised yelp. He wasn't human anymore! What was this?! He didn't understand it at all, how could this be happening...? Animals had been disabled in Paixao... and he hadn't even been one in the first place!

Axel made note of the long stretches of black and red fur up and down his legs, felt the way his hackles raised tensely on his back. He looked over his shoulder and behind him, narrowing his eyes on the tail idly swaying back and forth from his behind, and down at his long... very long back legs. His pants, which had previously been worn on his hips, were on the ground beneath him, as well as his shoes. The redhead looked ahead again, and focused on Kadaj – who seemed to be having a similar problem.

"Well I'll be damned. Something fucked up."

Kadaj hissed softly, stepping away from his shed clothing and staring down at himself. (http://www.alicewoodrome.com/images/FishingCat3560987.jpg) Silver fur... black spots... what? Paws? He looked up at Axel and his eyes widened. He hissed again, fluffing up his fur so that he appeared as large and intimidating as possible.

Wait... this was Axel, not an enemy! What had come over him? He forced himself to calm down, laughing softly to cover his temporary loss of control and venturing a little closer to examine him. "Seems like someone did," he said in amused tone.

He stretched slowly, curious about this new body. It seemed like he had at least some of the instincts to go with it, or at least was using that as an excuse to get closer to Axel and start licking his fur into place, grooming him. What? It seemed like a good idea after all. Besides, it would probably calm him down too, and having an angry canine after him didn't sound like an attractive option at all.

Kadaj purred loudly, pleased that Axel was returning the favor. He shifted closer, having to stretch a bit to reach more areas to groom. It wasn't nearly easy enough, since his new form was so much shorter than Axel's... those damned long legs. It was strangely comforting, doing this, and he almost forgot that it was supposed to be an inconvenience. Almost.

He paused just long enough to ask, "Shouldn't we... do something about it?" before immediately going back to slowly running his tongue over the red fur, eyes closing lazily. Being a cat seemed to suit him just a bit too much.

Kadaj peered over the screen with him, nudging his head against Axel's side thoughtfully. "Simba, huh? How is this Simba effecting things like this?" He still wanted to lick him but restrained himself, aware that now wasn't quite the time for that. That didn't mean he had to stop rubbing against him, though.

The journal intrigued him. He actually felt like batting at the screen, something that was really starting to aggravate him. His ears flattened against his head slightly-- how long was this going to last? It was kind of interesting, sure, but the novelty was starting to wear off already. Well... sort of. He nudged his head against Axel again, purring.

Kadaj stared at the spot where Axel had buried the journal, ears twitching. After a second's pause, he gathered up his things in his teeth and started after him, carefully filing away the location as reference for later. Axel would probably remember himself, but just to be prepared in case he didn't...

His ears flattened back against his head as he followed him, and he kept his head slightly down as though trying to make himself seem as small and unassuming as possible. He wasn't even thinking about it; he was actually just wondering why Axel's almost dismissal of his actions had hurt so much. It was probably just some animal thing...

Kadaj climbed up after him easily, keeping up with Axel's longer stride with relative ease, aided in no small part by a few jumps here and there that his new body performed without a second thought. He followed him back over the river and to the waterfall, feeling something almost like... deja vu? But not quite. Maybe it was just his imagination.

He didn't really mind getting wet, at least not when he moved under the waterfall after Axel, and he quickly stifled a small laugh at his expense before following him to the entrance of the cave. Unfortunately, he didn't quite realize Axel was going to try to dry himself off like that, and he backed away just a little too late to completely avoid the flying water. He dropped his clothes and shook himself off too, unable to stop himself from giving Axel a dirty look before starting to wash himself-- the right way.

"So how will we take care of the intruder?" he asked, glancing up at him as he licked his tongue down his side. The action felt so natural that he didn't even realize there was anything wrong with doing it until a few moments later, and he paused for a second before continuing, pretending like he meant to do that the whole time. Right. He stopped rather quickly though, facing Axel again and scratching at his neck with one hind leg. This was getting kind of annoying...

The growling was making Kadaj a little nervous, and even after Axel had stopped he was a little reluctant to get close to him. He half-heartedly scratched at his neck again, staring off at nothing for a moment, before sighing softly and padding over to his side, nudging his head against him slightly.

"The two of us should be able to handle it, right?" he asked, starting to groom him again. He slowly licked away the droplets of water still clinging to Axel's fur, unable to stop his purr. It was harder to be intimidated by him when he was acting so... pathetic, almost, or maybe that was just the cat talking. Either way, Kadaj nudged him slightly again, trying to get him to move. "We just have to track him down and kill him. Come on. He's just an animal after all."

... Well, so were they, at the moment. It was still true, though.

That reassured him somewhat, but he was still a little bothered by the fact that Axel didn't seem to share his confidence. There wasn't really much he could do about it, but still.... It was all Simba's fault, whoever that was. All his fault that Axel's mood was ruined. Kadaj's eyes narrowed as he stalked after the wolf, starting to think of all of the ways he could get the lion back for that.

Then again, as nothing but a little fishing cat... how much damage could he do? ... A lot, hopefully, because he wasn't going to let this trespass go unpunished.

He crept softly through the cave after Axel, ears pricked forward and eyes sweeping the area cautiously. It didn't seem likely that Simba would just pop up out of nowhere like the slightly paranoid actions seemed to suggest, but it never hurt to be cautious. At least his eyes were much better at piercing the darkness than his usual ones... but they'd be back to normal sooner or later, so there wasn't much point in dwelling over it now. Even if it was fun.
