Into the [Macalania] Woods [Active/Closed]
Character(s): Riku, Link, Mao and Yorda
Content: SPIRA EXPEDITION later to be joined by Kairi, possibly.
Setting: Spira floor, Macalania Woods
Time: Morning. Ish. (How early do you expect Riku to get up?)
Warnings: MONSTERS, EXPLORATION, ADVEEEEENTUUUURE
"Just inside the door to Spira." That was what the note Riku'd sent everyone said. Close enough to the safety of the door anyone waiting could escape and just barely far enough in to satiate curiosity until the others arrived. Or at least his own curiosity.
So he'd thought.
He stood there, looking around in awe. At first glance he thought it had been night in this world, but as he examined his mysterious surroundings, he found no true stars amongst the shimmering lights. The forest itself was thick enough to blot out any sunlight, leaving the natural phosphorescence of the place to let newer growth emerge. Crystals and trees alike sprang from the earth to the point it became clear the growth was one and the same. The trees themselves seemed frosted in their own crystal. The trees twisted and intertwined amongst themselves to create eerie walkways through this serene place. Stranger still were the light trails that rose gently through the forest. It was as if the light from the crystals themselves simply rose away from their homes to create glittering ribbons stretched across the bows of the trees.
Riku leaned against the doorframe to wait, absentmindedly toying with his new keychain as he gazed at his surroundings.
[Yes, he's playing with a thick chain with an angry button attached to the end.]

Once the message came up on the screen, Link put his journal away, made sure to grab everything he promised to bring, and headed straight for the church outside the dome. It wasn't long before he arrived to see Riku in the doorway. It looked like he was the first one to meet up with him.
"You don't think the others will keep us waiting for long, do you?"

He had been careful to keep an eye on Yorda, half-expecting her to go wandering off in some random direction the second he took his eyes off her. She was getting better about that, he supposed, but still... It wasn't like he was worried about her or anything. She just had a history.
But the moment they stepped foot into the new world, any thought of Yorda was instantly shoved out of his mind. "The... The trees!" Mao exclaimed, seeming not to see Link and Riku nearby. What was this crystalline substance? Was it the flora itself or did it just work in some kind of symbiosis? Were these things even alive?! He would definitely have to take a sample back with him!

Now was no different. When they'd stepped into the woods, the princess stood wholly still, looking about her in awed silence. The city was gorgeous, but... truly, this was the most beautiful place she had ever seen. The girl looked straight up, hands clasped in quiet joy, a look of pure wonder lighting up her face. She was so enraptured, she simply couldn't speak.
Again, Riku has Link wrong...
It was only a moment later when his awe was echoed behind him. Riku didn't turn around at first, but simply replied. "I know. Nothing like back home." The chain still jingled in his hand. After a pause, he finally turned back to Mao and...
A glowing girl. That's new. Definitely not human. She seemed speechless with the surroundings. Too bad he'd have to break the silence. Riku gave her a quizzical look, brows raised, before asking, "...Yorda, right?"

It wasn't the new guy with white hair, although meeting another person who looked so young with such hair was a bit surprising. No, Link was surprised by the girl that was following him. She was glowing. And Link didn't see anything on her for her to use to defend herself. He remained quiet though, as perhaps this young woman could have magical abilities he had yet to see, but he had to admit that she didn't look like the fighting type.

It wasn't long before something else managed to catch Mao's eye, a tiny glint of gold amongst the varying shades of blues painting the crystalline forest. The demon's eyes widened a fraction and he immediately pulled the sides of his coat closer around his shoulders. "Where did you...?" he asked Riku, finally noticing an empty spot on the coat where a button should be. And did Riku have it on a chain? What the hell would he do that for? Was it some kind of trophy?

"Is this why we have come?" she asked Mao, indicating the beauty of the forest.

Riku shook his head to Yorda, but the question wasn't for him, and he was more interested in the crystals. Wonder if they'd still glow if I break one off? With that he took his Keyblade to the base of one, trying to see if he might get a useful tool for later.

Riku managed to sort of answer his question not too long later when he attached it to his weird wing... key.... sword... weapon thing. To Mao's surprise, the weapon changed form, switching from the weird combination of wings to something that looked a lot like his sword. Mao stared for a moment, unsure how to react, but soon took out his own sword, looking between it and the weapon Riku now carried. "How...?" he asked. "What did you just do?"

Evidently, Mao didn't know, either. That, she knew, was unusual; even if Mao didn't know abut something, he didn't seem to want to admit it.
I RETURN!! /Crawls up
He wasn't sure about the Mr. White-hair. There was something...weird about him. Still, Riku seemed to trust him, so Link wouldn't complain. He would keep an eye on him though.
Yorda was also weird, but a different kind. She seemed so...naive. Even more than himself. Much more.

The teen shrugged at the questions, but still kept his smirk. "When you change the keychain, the Keyblade changes. It draws power from the keychain." He held up Way to the Dawn's keychain as much as a gesture as an example. "If an object resonates with the wielder and the Keyblade, if it's attached the Keyblade'll change shape."

Mao put his sword away and crossed his arms, staring intently at the blade that looked so much like his own. He made a small "Mm," to show that he had heard, but otherwise his mind was focused on trying to work out exactly how a blade could change shape like that. Was it magic or material? Chance or will? Was this just a hero thing?
After awhile it seemed that Mao had forgotten that there was anyone around him.
