It's a jungle out there [Active]

Character(s): Ma, anyone who wants to find a hysteric meerkat...
Content: Ma arrives, on the continued search for her son.
Setting: Vanaheim Gate
Time: Midday, week 27 erm. It's a week...
Warnings: Hysteric meerkat, valiant defender of Timon.

“Excuse me?” The motherly meerkat climbed her way up the counter, looking up at the keeper with determination. “I’m looking for my son, have you seen him? His name is Timon and I just know he’s gotten himself into trouble!”

The gate keeper looked down at her uneasily. She jabbed a finger at him, not at all threatened by his size. “I need to find him! My little Timmy… this is all that monkey’s fault!” What she wouldn’t give to hit him over the head again for sending her little baby after metaphors. Metaphors! Who did that? She pulls away quickly when he puts an animal journal in front of her, and she can’t help but begin to be suspicious. “What’s this? What am I supposed to do with this?”

“The little rodent. You can find him with th –”

“Little rodent? My son is not just some little rodent! He is a grade A meerkat, and you will do well to remember it!” She lets out a loud ‘hmph’ but snags the rock (journal) anyway, jumping down from the countertop. With her head held high, she enters the city… soon after breaking down in fear with this crazy little… rock.

"Well, well, what do we have here?" Axel's attention was definitely pulled in the direction of the mention of the name 'Timon.' Of course, he landed his eyes on another meerkat. And, how about that -- did she say son?

Normally, new arrivals were usually of little interest, but this one... This could definitely go somewhere. If Timon had Roxas on his side, it was only fair that Axel should level the playing field...

With a grin, he attempted to get her attention. "Excuse me ma'am, did you say Timon?"

:>

"No need to worry, your son is just fine," he used his best attempt at a reassuring tone, even going so far as to bend down to get closer to her level. Building rapport and all that. It was important with new acquaintances.

"In fact, I talked to him myself just earlier in the week. Nothing to worry about. I'm not entirely sure where he is at this moment, but I can certainly show you where he's been keeping himself these days."

[identity profile] explosionism.livejournal.com 2010-12-17 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really, really." The grin extended across his lips now. "And it would be my pleasure, ma'am. After all, winding up in a place like this, when you find someone close to you -- makes it just that little bit more bearable."

Axel lifted himself up from his position on the ground. "Now if you'll just follow me, before you know it, you'll be reunited with -- Timmy again, in no time."

The Nobody began his steps at a slow pace, so that she could match it. "Of course, there are a few things you should know about this place, too..."

"Sure is something, isn't it?" he egged on. "But y'know, with all the wonderous things Paixao has -- there's always the shady underbelly to be aware of. Like the people who are responsible for keeping us all caged up here, for example. You definitely want to be aware of them, the bunch of no goodniks."

[identity profile] explosionism.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
"That's right. If you look up," he pointed towards the sky, "you'll see that the fiends are keeping us all locked up in these domes. Like a bunch of cgaed -- uh -- guys in cages," Axel caught himself. He wanted to be on his best behaviour. "Anyway. Best to try and steer clear of them. I hear they're nothing but trouble."

He looked down towards the newest arrival, "But other than that, Paixao isn't too, too bad. Heck, you might even find more familiar faces here than you realize."

[identity profile] explosionism.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, that's easy. Everyone says they wear these tell-tale black coats. So a word to the wise -- be sure not to trust anyone with that sort of description," he brought an arm up to point to his temple. "Got it memorized?"

"Of course..." he continued, "meerkats didn't really strike me as the type to want to get involved in trouble though. Am I right?"

Sorry, Ma.

Toboe had been exploring the Vanaheim area, just so he could understand the layout of the city. With Blue and Tsmue's attitudes, it looked like Paixao really would be his home for a while at the least, so why not learn what's around?

And then, he caught it. There were two odd scents he had never encountered before. One was of an animal, probably one that burrowed because he could smell some fresh dirt too. The other scent...he couldn't even describe it, but it had to lead to something interesting. Toboe followed it, and soon, ran into a human with a rat-thing walking next to him.

There was prey around here! Without so much a thought, Toboe dropped his illusion and yipped, running straight for the little rat. He'd catch it, and bring it to Tsume to show that there was something to hunt in this city, and that he was capable of getting it himself.

[identity profile] explosionism.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Axel spun around just in time to see the device launched in the wolf's direction. Those animal instincts, they sure were keen weren't they? After a slight moment of awkward pausing on his part, he looked down at the meerkat. "Nice aim," he complimented, turning his attention again to the wolf.

"This guy really came outta no where, eh?" He leaned down slightly, nodding towards Ma, and in a low tone offering -- "Hide behind me if you need to," as he started addressing the newest addition.

"Yo there. Hello? You one of those animals that can talk, too?"

[identity profile] tsumesrunt.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
The rat-thing's aim was pretty damn good, and the journal hit Toboe square between the eyes. He skidded to a halt. It..it talked! He couldn't eat anything that talked! That, and he certainly hadn't expected it to throw something at him. He expected it to have done what other rodents did and run, and then there'd be a chase, and then he'd catch it. He just sat there and stared at the little thing in shock.

That is, until the human talked to him. He got back up and stepped back, obviously afraid of him. The odd smell. the one he couldn't identify. It was coming from him. What did that mean?

Toboe froze, not sure what to do. This human didn't seem dangerous. He didn't have a gun or anything, but he was the first to acknowledge that Toboe was indeed there. He gave a slow, silent nod, muscles tensed, ready to run.

[identity profile] explosionism.livejournal.com 2010-12-19 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
"All right. Either you're shy, or those vocal chords aren't of the complex variety," Axel waved it off. "Either way," he motioned towards Ma, "you see this? Not food. Got it memorized? Talking meerkat equals not dinner."

He leaned forward, grabbing the journal that belonged to her and offering it back to Ma. "Yours?"

And then he turned back to Toboe, "If you're hungry, I'm sure there's got to be some creatures of lesser intelligence roaming in one of the forests. Maybe you oughta try there, lassie."

[He's still in his wolf form]

[identity profile] tsumesrunt.livejournal.com 2010-12-19 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Y-yeah, ok." He was still frozen in place as the strange-smelling-human reached down for the journal, and was glad that he had just stepped back to give it to the...meerkat? Whatever that thing was.

Toboe laid himself on the ground and gazed at the little rodent. "I'm sorry. I won't eat you. I won't let my friends eat you either." He ignored the statement from human. He didn't know what a lassie was, so he didn't know if it was an insult or not. Besides, he was much more interested in the meerkat thing, even if he wasn't going to chase it anymore. He had never seen one before, and he wanted to know more about it.

[identity profile] explosionism.livejournal.com 2010-12-28 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wonderful," he clapped his hands together, "glad that's been resolved." And then he thought a moment... "Oh, and while we're at it, there's another one of these guys around. Like I said, meerkat. M-E-E-R-K-A-T. Got it? Probably not a good idea to eat that one, either." But for a moment, the idea had crossed Axel's mind.

[identity profile] tsumesrunt.livejournal.com 2010-12-30 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, there's another one? I won't eat him either, promise." Toboe was a wolf, and thus, chasing after animals weaker than himself and eating them was part of his nature. Still, after being raised by Granny, he didn't like to make others sad. He could control himself, right? Right.

Toboe was still gazing at the meerkat, cocking his head as he stepped forward a little. "Are you looking for the other one? Maybe I can sniff him out for you!"

[identity profile] explosionism.livejournal.com 2011-01-10 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's right, Toucan Sam," Axel cracked. The possibility of the wold coming along posed a slight threat to the plan -- but not an indefinite one. After all, the more witnesses there were to his kindness, the better off he sat in the future. "But the offer is appreciated."

[identity profile] tsumesrunt.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Toboe got back up, his hanging limp. He supposed he couldn't count on making a friend out of someone he tried to kill and eat, but it was still disappointing.

"Oh, ok. I hope you find him." Toboe turned to leave. Looks like he would be coming up empty-handed to Tsume. Hopefully, he'd still be able to find something that would catch his friend's attention and respect.

"Huh?" he looked down at her, as though momentarily forgetting his whole plan. "Oh, right right, won't be much further now. Guess we'll have to be a little careful from now on, eh?" Axel shrugged his shoulders, the closest he'd get to a fake apology right now.

He turned on his heel, continuing on in the direction of Timon's hideout. "And how rude of me, I didn't even ask what I should be calling you, miss?"

/BY THESE POWERS COMBINED, I AM CAPTAIN SORRY! also, cool~! i can sum this up pretty quick...

[identity profile] explosionism.livejournal.com 2011-02-25 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Ma. How sweet." He added, complete with a smile to top it off. "At any rate, it's not that much further," Axel urged, continuing onward.

As he led, he took the opportunity to explain the 'rock' object to her -- detailing the journal system and how to use the device. The more people that made use of it, the easier it was to spy on them, anyway. Win-win situation as far as the Nobody was concerned. And then, before he knew it...

"Ah. Here we are," they stood before a large building, the apartments, and hideout of certain troublemakers within the city. "I'm sure your Timmy will be glad to see you, Ma."

He took a step backward, extending an arm in indication for her to proceed. "Shouldn't be too hard to find him. And be sure to let him know... his pal Axel is always looking out for him~" he added with a grin.
