So an Al Bhed and a Nightmaren walk into a bar ... no, that's the joke.

Character(s): Rikku, NiGHTS
Content: Obligatory intro post! And this weird purple thing.
Setting: Vanaheim Gate
Time: Day...ish
Warnings: contains NiGHTS

This whole thing was just... way too weird.

Rikku got to the gate and hesitated, trying not to flip out. Was this some kind of dream? One second she'd been in Luca with Yuna and everyone else, and then on the way back she'd tripped over something and found herself... here, wherever "here" was. The people in line had called it Paixao, but she'd been all over Spira and never heard of the place - which meant something was seriously out of whack here.

But really, there was only one way to find out what was up, and that was to keep moving forward. Something about the whole situation gave her an odd sense of déjà vu, though. It was like... when she'd fished Tidus out of the Baaj ruins, come to think of it. Only now she was the one getting fished, so to speak.

Well, he found someone to help him out, right? She'd just have to keep going till she found something, or someone. Even if the locals did seem a little unfriendly...

Just as NiGHTS had thought; the city was still boring. Really, he had to get out and explore; from the sounds of it, more worlds had opened up - and honestly, it couldn't be as boring as the city. He floated to the gates, glancing around to see if anyone looked interesting before he decided to head out and explore. Who knew? The nightmaren always had his most interesting encounters on the outskirts of the city.

Sure enough, there was a blonde girl looking looking around, bewildered. "Hey, there!" NiGHTS called out cheerfully, floating a little above her. "You look lost. You're new here, right?"

NiGHTS chuckled. "I've been here for awhile, and people who end up here usually have the sort of look you've got right now," he replied. "I'll bet I had it, too." He lowered himself until he floated a few inches off the ground and tilted his head to one side. "This place is pretty weird, at first, but then you get used to it." Eventually, he thought, and then it gets boring. Brushing his idle thoughts away, he grinned at Rikku. "So where are you from?"

NiGHTS had never heard of Bikanel Island, but he had heard of Spira. "Hey, I've heard of that!" he replied. "It's not far from here at all! A friend of mine mentioned that place." He smiled. "Of course, it's not the real Spira, since we're... hm. I don't know how far we really are from our homes." Maybe he could find out, given the time - no, that sounded like too much responsibility, at least for the moment.

"I don't really know," NiGHTS admitted. "I've heard the worlds around here look like the worlds out there, but they're not really. I've also heard that this place is really just a castle called Oblivion." He shrugged, interested but not really troubled by the news. "If you're really confused, you can try the message boards, or just go and look around. I've been planning to do that, myself."

"It's pretty confusing, huh?" said NiGHTS, crossing one leg over the other in mid-air. "I'm still trying to puzzle it out myself. I'll just have to take a look or something later." Or not-so-later; he had been wanting to go outside anyway. The nightmaren looked over to Rikku with a shrug. "The message boards get pretty good results, I've found. And yeah, that's a journal. You can write your thoughts down, communicate with others - pretty much anything like that. It's quite useful.

"Why don't you give it a try?" NiGHTS smiled at Rikku. "I'll stay with you. There's no way I'll just leave someone here to get lost." Or worse, he thought.

[Sure!]

NiGHTS chuckled. "I'm glad to hear it," he replied, flying after Rikku. Once she sat down, he floated a little away from her, looking about himself idly. This city never stopped being boring, but at least the people in it were interesting. He watched Rikku set up her journal and opened his own. Maybe she would know someone he did in here...
