Not for the first time since he'd arrived in Paixao, Squall found himself wandering. It made everything easier to think about, and there was plenty of that do be done. He'd been alone for... he couldn't even remember how long it had been since he'd arrived, and that was almost what worried him the most. What was going on back at home? Were people right that no real time passed between now and then? Or was it just a pleasant lie to comfort those stuck here?

More to the point, did it have anything to with the fact that no one else in his world stayed for any real length of time? Or was he just lucky?

Questions and more questions. It seemed like that was what his life had become lately, and he sighed to himself as he turned into the park. There just... wasn't anything he could answer about this place.

What wasn't he thinking about, really? That had been why he'd come out to wander really. To try and see if he couldn't make some sense of everything that was running around his head. So far, it hadn't really worked, but at least he couldn't say he hadn't tried. Besides, maybe something would come up later. It was far more likely it wouldn't, of course, but he couldn't really discount that slim possibility just because it was unlikely.

Not quite the truth, but close enough, at least by Squall's thinking.
