Winged Heart [Completed]
Character(s): Urd, Xemnas
Content: As Urd contemplates her time in Paixao, the Superior finally makes his move.
Setting: Elysian Fields
Time: Week 25, night
Warnings: Xemnas is a douche.
Everything was going well. At least, as well as could be expected. Though Urd was still affected by the new mayor's stringent dress code, such a thing was a triviality to her with her sister and Genie around. Yorda was being cared for, her friends were safe and plans were being made to fix the city's attitude towards the visitors. Neirenn had vanished, unfortunately, but Urd had determined that she must have been brought back to her dimension. It was hard to be sad knowing the girl was back where she belonged.
Urd sat surrounded by the luminous glow of the Elysian Fields, surrounded by gently waving strands of silken, blue-white grass. Lifting her hand up, she caught one of the many soft orbs of light that perpetually fell over the fields. Smiling gently, she held the light with a careful, reverent touch.
She'd lost track of how long she'd been in this strange dimension. It felt as if she'd been here forever, with so much that had gone on, but she knew it hadn't even been a year. As she manipulated the orbs of light around her, her long silver hair floating in the gentle breeze, she closed her eyes and remembered.
Genie baking with Belldandy. Yorda and Ico meeting her at the park for ice cream. Tricking Laharl and Vyers into reconciling. The pool party. Exploring Destiny Islands, Halloween Town, Christmas Town. Helping Timon after he was attacked. She had met and grown attached to so many people in this city, from all walks of life. And it had happened so quickly.
Urd opened her eyes and leaned back, gazing up the night sky. It had no stars, but with the light falling down around her, she could almost feel as if there were. Filled with hope and affection for all the people still inside the city, she smiled.
Everything was going to be alright.

Preparations were complete, if a little unusual. The Dusks lurking in the darkness weren't quite cooperating, nor understanding the plan Xemnas had in mind, but they would not mess things up - even Dusks knew of consequences.
"You've forgotten, haven't you?" Xemnas asks as he steps out from a portal behind her, a grin on his face. Too caught up in her thoughts, perhaps? Did she not remember the nothingness that could encompass this world, all the time, simply waiting?
If she were to attack him, the Sorcerers would make themselves known in an instant, boxing her the same way they had done in the past.

"I was just waiting for you to make your move," she shot back, narrowing her eyes. Immediately and by instinct, she stretched her hands out, summoned spirals of flame flaring towards him. So caught up in her desperate need to put him down, she didn't even consider the presence of the Sorcerers until it was too late.
Wasting no time, she flew up into the sky at a break-neck speed, her clothes changing from the casual dress to her battle uniform: a skin-tight red suit with the usual flare. She spun around in the sky and immediately flew toward him, hands into fists aimed right at his face.

Before the fists can connect, he's sliding into a portal, again reappearing behind her, his expression never changing. "I wonder what memories have had you distracted so. Perhaps I may have a look?" He raises a brow. Yes, he's mocking her. Even he would not taunt a goddess if he didn't have her weakness known. Now he was certainly confident.
Was she?

She knew the sorcerers were coming any second, but if she could get a big enough spell off before they subdued her magic, maybe she could end this. She flew past where Xemnas was, shooting higher and higher into the sky. As she flew, she began the recitation, her hands making the requisite movements.
"Spirit of Thunder, who races in the sky and shakes the ground and the air!" She just needed to stay away from him long enough to summon the spell...a little further... "With your great power, become thunderbolts in my hand, you the power that smashes everything!"
Storm clouds quickly formed in the empty sky, rumbling with promised violence. Urd turned to face the ground far below and raised her arms high. Light blue mandalas formed above her, intricate and complex. Thick bolts of lightening arced down from the heavy clouds, covering a large expanse of ground and air.
"Destructive, booming thunder!"
The sky outside of Paixao was a light show as the lightening focused on her attackers.

- but then, how many of this city really knew of his existence?
His body was surrounded by Nobodies, dying instantly as the magic surpassed their barriers and erased them from their so-called life. Xemnas shields himself with an arm over his face, feeling the grind of the spell breaking beyond his protections and cutting against him. He grits his teeth.
Enough.
As other Nobodies continue to take the brunt of the magic, Xemnas disappears. In his hiding, he observes his flesh, scorched from where lightning licked against his side.
"Go," he tells the Dusks.
Urd now faces the eye of the storm, where nothing stands in her way - not an enemy in sight. That calmness will not last.

The lightening had faded, but the wind was still fierce, thunder still rumbling in the dark, heavy sky. Hands clenched, she stared upwards...and that's when a great force hit her from behind. She hit the ground and bounced several times, rolling from the surprise attack, but she was quick on her feet, wincing at the pain.
Coming from seemingly nowhere were several Nobodies she'd never seen before, pale creatures that had blended into the white brightness of the field. One had apparently smacked into her from behind. The question of how such a thin, graceful looking thing could accomplish such force was immediately answered as one of them stretched themselves to an inhuman length behind her. It snapped back into position, taking her with it and flinging her upwards into another one.
She couldn't get a spell off fast enough. They kept coming, they seemed endless, and she felt her energy draining. "No..." she gasped, a cry she had intended to be a shout but ended up a whisper. Her angel was trying her hardest to protect her, but she was getting injured in the process. Urd was able to cast a fireball from her hands, incinerating the two closest Dusks, but more were coming from the shadows.
It was only a matter of seconds until she found herself wrapped by several of the elastic Nobodies, World of Elegance similarly subdued above her. As the pale flesh of a Dusk slipped over the bottom half of her face, Urd felt a wave of revulsion and complete, consuming rage.

He holds a hand out to his side and a new portal opens, two Dusks jerkily snaking outwards. Between their limbs is what appears to be a more compact version of the journals. They fumble awkwardly with the device, shaking at it and making gestures as though they've already forgotten their instructions - until Xemnas sends a glare their way.
Not more than a second later, they push a button and an... eerie sound drifts into the air. It isn't... quite right. There's something very wrong about it, and there are several different attempts on the recording, waning from one to the next until the closest akin to 'polka' can be recognizable to the goddess.

As her vision started to tunnel, the music instantly putting her to sleep, Urd cast one final, unfocused glare at Xemnas. I should have known better... she thought as his smirking face weaved in and out of the encroaching shadows. The brighter the light...the blacker the darkness... She struggled as much as she could to shut the music out, but it was too late. Her head drooped and unconsciousness took her. Belldandy...Genie...
I'm sorry...

If any were to come and check now, they would find nothing, except for perhaps a static still lingering in the air.
The Dusks were already beginning to misbehave, and with a glare he sends them all away, leaving the music device on a countertop in his lab of choice.
The array of tools were already set up in preparation for his task, but he leaves them for now in order to fasten the goddess to the table, not that he knew how good it would do, but it would be enough to give her a jolt of panic if she were to wake fully, or rather... when.
He picks up the small device, and the music comes to a halt.

She narrowed her eyes as Xemnas came into view. Electricity began to crackle around her, fire in her gaze. "I'm going to destroy you," she hissed, the restraints cracking under the force of her power, even diminished as it was.

He tilts his head and frowns, and then chooses to turn the music back on, watching her succumb to slumber.
When she wakes again from the music stopping, she'll find her left arm hooked to an IV line that disappears out of sight. Perhaps, normally, she would be able to simple struggle to get it unattached from her, but this line was feeding her darkness.
Xemnas checks the bag hanging on the pole behind her, then he raises a brow to look back at her. "That should suit you much better."

But the pain was unbearable. This wasn't like the demonic subroutines or possessions in her own world. This was completely alien, an infection that her body was completely rebelling against in every way it could. It took everything she had to focus on fighting that darkness. A very inelegant snarl escaped her gritted teeth as she glared directly into the Superior's eyes, even as she was writhing in agony.
Urd would not allow herself to become a pawn for Xemnas. She would not let the darkness take her.
no subject
"No longer talkative? No threats to my very nature?" He grins. "How disappointing. There are always other way to pass the time..." He raises a brow, unaffected by the pain she's displaying. Of course, his idea of passing the time is by taking another sample of her memories - after all, she still had not answered his earlier question of where her thoughts lay.

They kept coming, these glimpses into the life she'd lead up to this point, and as they were viewed, Urd's heart was contained in darkness. It was not corrupted, but held separate from the rest of her, cut off. She stopped struggling, her eyes glazing over as everything that made her who she was became locked. World of Elegance, the reflection of her heart and the mirror of her soul, was subdued and locked as well. It was as if Urd was deeply submerged in the darkness, surrounded by a protective bubble.
She finally stopped moving all together and stared up at the shadows above her.

"Black wings," he repeats once more. "This shall keep you contained for now, hm? Try not to find anyone who will tamper with my results... I look forward to the progress a body like yours makes. Can you cleanse yourself? You are a more unique specimen than I am accustomed to... magnificent."

Moments later, the Elysian Fields, which had grown calm and quiet as usual in the interim, was disturbed again by a shadowy portal. Urd stepped out, slowly floating down to the grass as the door to the shadows closed behind her.
The night calm and peaceful, a changed goddess slowly made her idle way back into Paixao.
