After meeting with Simba, it had taken the three of them lot of trouble to truly figure out just where exactly they had to go to get to this other island. Getting there rather defied anything logical to the lioness' mind.

Kiara just could not wrap her mind around how they could have gone through such a strange cave (it was still her best description of the odd dwellings the humans lived in) to end up, well, where-ever this was. It was so different from the place they'd been before. Far more warm and sunny. The sand felt real beneath her paws and the smells smelt... real. Everything seemed more real here. Maybe it was too soon to say, but she already preferred this place to where they'd been; that Paixao place.

Still, it was nothing like home.

At least some of her 'home' was right here with her. She just hoped she wouldn't make them regret having her along. She hadn't been able to practice much of what Kovu had tried to teach her and even then, their last lesson had been interrupted. But that's why she was coming along, right? For them both to help teach her more.

Kovu let the thing flopping around in his mouth fall onto the sand, and twitched with some annoyance at Simba. "All right, oh fearless leader, you go find something for us to chase. At least that was still fun."

He knew that his "clever" little quip really didn't mean anything to Simba now, since the lunkhead hadn't gone back to the Pride Lands yet, but Kovu felt insulted when Simba said that.

He looked over at Kiara. "Yeah, it's a fish. Sometimes, in the Outlands, it was the best we could find to eat. There's not exactly much decent prey, so we had to learn to get by." The last words had the undertone of a growl, and were directed more out of the side of his mouth at Simba than Kiara.
