A Little Rendezvous Around the City [Completed]

Character(s): Wolf, Raspberyl, open to anyone else
Content: Wolf takes a walk with Raspberyl to explore the city
Setting: In front of St. Destino's Hospital
Time: 10 in the morning, Week 20
Warnings: Not much

Wolf leaned against the building of St. Destino’s Hospital. He folded his arms and watched people walk around, minding their own business. Wondering if this place is even used, it’s so run down. Wolf guessed someone had to be running it. He did occasionally see some people walk in there. He reached down picking up his brown bag of breakfast goodies, still ecstatic that the cafes here had meat products. Wolf took out the bacon and eggs burrito then proceeded to chow down on it. Egg pieces flew everywhere in the process, but he didn’t seem to notice his animal behavior on eating.

After Wolf was done, he put his trash in the bin near the pillar, and walked back to lean against the wall. He wondered what other food they might sell at other places. He took out his beaten up brochure map and proceeded to look at the different type of places. Observing, some of the sights, what would the little demon girl like? Perhaps she’d be interested Folios Weaponry or The Glass Bonsai? Wolf seemed more interested in some of the places where they had food, although, he noticed the St. Destino church that was out in the open of Elysian Fields. That’d be a fun place to explore…if they can get to it. He continued to look at the map in interest, occasionally looking up to see if he spies Raspberyl.

Was that pun intentional xD

Little did the Wolf know that he was being watched from across the street. Carefully spying on him for the past five minutes, Beryl wanted to know just what the person she was going to meet was like. "A bit of a pig," she thought to herself as a small chuckle left her lips, "but at least he's mostly harmless. This should be pretty fun." Cautiously, she began to move weave her way past the two trash cans. Waiting for him to turn the other way, she popped out into view before proudly ambling her way over.

"Howdy!" she exclaimed, wanting to get the first greeting in. "You might already know this, but I'm Beryl!" As she came up to him, she began to realize just how big their height differences were. Her partner for this evening was more than twice her own height! But oh well, that didn't matter. She was big in her heart, after all. "So, are you ready to go?"

Beryl blinked a little. She wasn't used to people kneeling down to talk to her, most of the time they would just look down and talk. She was a little unsure how to take it at first. She quickly decided that he didn't mean anything insulting by this gesture, and smiled realizing he was just trying to see eye to eye. It was a little polite maybe? At least she hoped it was.

"Well, that's sort of why I accepted your date," Beryl explained, "I don't really have any ideas what this place is like besides little brochure blurbs, and everybody knows those are always better than they sound. I want to go out and see what the city is really like."

"And... maybe check out the school here," she added with a sheepish laugh. After all, she did grow up in that environment for well over a thousand years...

Beryl trotted alongside her companion, taking a look at the city. Everything was like a serene version of her home: the fake trees swaying calmly, the delicate archways and floors bathed in sunlight, the lining of lamps for the night time. Though it was still soon to be homesick, everything in this new city reminded her of home. Yet, at the same time, reminded her that she was far away from anything that she was used to.

This thought was a little unsettling. "So, tell me a little bit more about your home world," she said quickly, hoping to get her mind on something else. "What are all of the nine kingdoms?"

Beryl listen intently. After all, it wasn't every day that she got to listen talk about other worlds. She wondered about what Wolf's world look like. Breathing in the story, she imagined a large area with grand spaces, deep woods and snow-crested mountains. Towns, cities and castles littering the landscape, with designs and and structure that the Netherworld could never come up with.

Suddenly her musings were brought back to the walk, and the street and her companion. "Oh, my world? I come from the Nether Institute Evil Academy. It's a place where demons learn to be like demons -- skipping class, pulling pranks, that kinda deal. But not only am I the number one delinquent of my world, I'm happily one of the three to students to ever graduate!"

She plodded a few steps before adding, "I'm still deciding what to do now, seeing as the threat of brainwashing demons into delinquents is over and Mao has become dean, I guess I've been thinking about teaching, though. That might be fun. Of course that's after I go home. What do you do?"

The demon listened intently, curious to hear how he would respond to her open-ended question. She was a bit disappointed at his response. How could what he did not be important? Of the many ways to answer, why did he choose to deflect? She puzzled over this as they approached a slight incline which lead to the school.

"Looks like all types of kids go here," Wolf answered merrily.

"Yeah, sure does," Beryl responded as she peeked cautiously over a small slate wall (though to her companion this was probably more like a rather large step). Her eyes quickly darted to the students. Students carrying bags and walking together. Talking about trivial things as they returned into the school building from lunch. The building itself was spotless, and had the glistening glow of academia. The little demon had never seen anything so grand, so perfect in all of her life.

"Is this really a school?" She asked, looking up at Wolf. "Is this how humans go to class? It's so... so..." her voice choked up in noticeable awe, "...badass."

Beryl scoffed. "Of course not. The current dean is only, like, one of the biggest slackers that ever crawled out of the Netherworld. He's the number one dean of the school and is rude and lazy and all-around jerk. He'd never actually ask anybody to clean the Netherworld, and only weird delinquent demons would ever be caught dead doing actual work." She smiled a little as she said this, her eyes leaving the school around them for a second.

"He's here, you know." Beryl added finally. "I'm actually staying with him for now. At least until I find another place to stay."

Beryl didn't mind the inquiry. "For now," she answered, "or for however long it takes for me to get adjusted... or when he kicks me out. We're rivals, but that means that we're pretty close. I'm pretty sure that before long we'll start bickering--I look forward to it, actually--but I do hope that before we really get on each other's nerves that I have a place lined up. Just in case."

Being thoughtful, she decided that it was a better question to ask... just in case his royal Maoness got irritated early. "Where do you stay?" she asked, "I've got the brochure about the places, but some of them seem a bit... pricey."

Beryl flustered mentally. Stay with him? Sure he was a nice guy and all, but it was still too soon to be staying in the room of another guy. And Mao would never let her hear the end of it...

...still, he was being very hospitable, and the offer seemed to be out of good faith. Maybe her doubt came from the fact that she wasn't used to this kind of charity? Sure she gave it to others all the time, but seldom had charity offered. She smiled a bit. At the very least, she should acknowledge his totally badass act of kindness. "Thanks, I just might have to hit you up on that," she said with a grin.

Her attention returned to the children entering into the building, and she was suddenly reminded that she hadn't eeaten saw one finishing his apple core before throwing it into a wastebasket before entering a building. "Hey, are you hungry? I could totally go for some lunch now, if you're up for it."

Beryl stared for a moment as she's left behind. Who would have thought that mentioning food would have such a huge impact on Wolf?

Suddenly the realization hit home. "H-hey! Wait for me!" she bellowed as she began to chase down the rampaging carnivore-man.
