Let's start flying now ♪ [Active/Open]
Character(s): Kanata, and whoever else happens by.
Content: Yet another Overlord joins the ranks of those in Paixao.
Setting: Muspelheim Gate.
Time: I wanna say afternoon-ish?
Warnings: None thus far!
It wasn't uncommon for flotsam with people and aliens to drift by every now and then, so Kanata had gotten past the people at the gate with little concern. Sure, how they acted was kind of weird, and he certainly wasn't expecting them to give him something. But Kanata was far more distracted by all the other sights past the gate. (Though the gate itself was pretty neat too, it had such cool flame designs.) He had yet to see any flotsam this big and extravagant drift by, oh, how his heart was pounding at the thought of exploring all this! "Whoaaa, look at how huge this place is! There must be all kinds of new things to see here!"
But when there was no reply, no other comments, no "Lord Kanata, please stay focused"--it finally hit him. "Tsubaki?" Kanata called out tentatively, glancing back over his shoulder.
No one was there.
That was more than a little worrying.
Equally as worrying, was how the lighting of the place caught his eye upon second glance.
Kanata turned his gaze upward, confused and starting to feel a little panicked. Something was definitely off here. Where was everything? The dragons? The stars? Shooting stars? All the items and flotsam floating around? Where was the sky itself? "What's going on?" he muttered quietly. With his brow furrowed in concern, Kanata marched forward towards the crowds. Maybe he had just missed everyone back at the gate?
"Heeeey! Tsubaki? Etna? Pamela-?"

So, with a cigarette in hand - because she'd actually just come out of mindlink (gotten thrown out being more appropriate) - she wandered around. People were coming and going as though this happened all the time, though she couldn't help but notice the one who was striding purposefully forward and calling out like he either had lost someone or was brand new. Grace was banking on the brand new part.
Remembering vaguely how it had been useful to have someone walk up to her and offer to help, she stood for a few minutes, sucking on the cigarette as she debated figuring out what was going on. Eventually, she moved a little closer in the name of gathering information, and called out to him.
"Lose someone?"
no subject
"Yeah, I think so." He frowned, wrinkling his nose at the smell of the cigarette smoke. "You didn't happen to see someone with long hair and-" Kanata pulled both his ears upward, straightening them and trying to make them a little more pointed. "-tall ears, did you? Oh, or maybe a ghost or mascot-looking penguins?"
no subject
"Nope. No one around like that, though I've only been around for a few days myself," she replied, letting the hand holding her cigarette fall back to her side again. "Sounds like you just got here. Welcome to the city from hell. At least the air is breathable and there isn't native wildlife looking to try to kill you."
She was such a ray of sunlight when she wanted to be.

"Mm, thank you though. Could you let me know if you see them? I thought they were right behind me, but I guess not, geez." Kanata didn't mean to be rude, but at the same time he couldn't help but let his eyes wander around the area. Part of him wanted to find the others, but the other part? Really wanted to look around more too. All the buildings looked so different from the ones back on...
"Hey, what happened to the sky?" Focusing his attention back on her, he continued, "Where did everything go all of a sudden?"

She shrugged in response and took another puff from her cigarette, making sure to blow the smoke away from her companion. "Doubt I will, but if it will set your heart to rest, I'll look." Grace was feeling a little helpful today.
"Wouldn't know," she answered dryly. "Looks like they built a city within walls meant to keep us in. Almost like a prison. Imagine that."
Aghh, I'm SO, SO SORRY it took me forever to get to this. D:
Like I have room to talk about being slow XD
Not that she held out much hope on that matter.
I AM STILL INCREDIBLY SORRY I mean drat this tiny tag is omega late too
... then promptly skidded to a halt and turned back towards her. "Wait, what do you mean by 'journals'? Aren't those supposed to be a private kind of thing?" At least, that was how Suzaku had explained his to him that one time.
I HAVE NO ROOM TO TALK XD IT'S OKAY
"Depends on what you want to do with them," she answered, balancing her cigarette between her fingers so that it didn't drop ashes on the journal. "This thing is the journal device and it's used as communication here." A second later, the network came into view and she moved so he could see over her shoulder. "You can make entries other people can see and look through entries they've made."

Once she was done showing him the journal, she shut it and slipped it into its carrier. She would have liked something that did a little more than simply display what people were talking about. She could have used something biological, something that would take samples would be a huge comfort. No such luck, though. She was stuck with a place without even the barest hint of botany and nothing to do. Yet anyway. She could only hope it would get better, even if she didn't expect it to.

Myths?
"That's not true!" Kanata clenched his fists and looked at Grace fiercely, childishly. She was wrong! And with all the pride of a little kid who knew something their science teacher didn't, he was going to tell her so. "They're very popular back home! I mean, how else would everyone get around?!" Well, rockets, ships, or magic probably. That aside, they were common. Really!
"Ah! And thanks for showing me how the journal works, even if it's pretty disappointing," Kanata said, calming down and nodding to the journal. "But I guess it still sounds useful." Despite the frown, he was determined. He would definitely figure this all out and find someone yet!
no subject
"Right." So planes and space ships and that sort didn't exist then? She wasn't in the mood to argue about it. That was just asking for an explanation Grace didn't feel like giving. Her own technology from home was far more advanced than anything she'd yet to see or hear of and trying to explain it had proven to be too much of a pain in the ass so far.
"Sure, kid. Keep outta trouble." That was about all she knew of and it seemed he had a lot else to do, so unless he wanted to say anything else or ask another question, she was just going to stand there and take another breath of the cigarette smoke.
