King in Exile

Who: Simba, and anyone who wants to meet him! *Looks at Timon*
What: Simba ariives in Paixao.
When: Morning-Afternoon.
Where: Joutenheim Gate
Warnings: Unless Scar shows up, none.

Simba woke up slowly, just like every other day he had spent in the jungle, so it took him a little while to realize that he wasn’t there anymore. The large lion rolled to his feet, stretched, and yawned.

He was much more awake once he realized that he wasn’t in the jungle anymore, and that Timon and Pumba were nowhere to be seen. He wasn’t too worried about them though. They could take care of themselves. He was mostly surprised that he woke up in a place so much different from where he fell asleep.

Simba looked around, but the only place to go was toward this odd gate, the only opening in what looked like a large dome. Curious, the lion strolled over, and discovered a line of...things. He had never seen these bipedal creatures before. They had strange patterns of fur, and odd faces. Still, he was more curious than uncomfortable, and he approached the line and waited like everyone else.

There was another bipedal thing standing at the entrance. It held some floppy things in its…paw, and handed one to Simba. “Welcome to Paixao,” it said.

“Thanks.” Simba didn’t take the pamphlet, as it didn’t smell like something he should put in his mouth. The thing talked to him again before he was allowed into the city. “What’s your name?”

“Simba.”

The thing nodded, and let Simba pass, where he was just confronted with yet another one. It immediately handed the lion a strange blocky devise. Simba took it in his mouth, and walked away. He didn’t know what it was, but he didn’t like the taste of it. He spat it on the ground and pushed it here and there like a kitten with a possible new toy, but he lost interest, and left it on the ground.

Simba took a moment to look around. He had no idea what this place was, but it was filled with strange structures, and the bipedal creatures were literally everywhere. He spotted a few animals here and there, but found that they were either fake or dead when he approached them, which was a shame since he was starting to realize how hungry he was. He continued to roam the streets, trying to follow his nose on a small quest for food.

Culotte had entered the gate not so long before Simba had. He hadn't really gotten far into the city however. The boy just couldn't figure out just how he'd ended up here. As far as he knew, the Dark World couldn't send you to other places entirely, right?

He'd been training with his sister when he'd blacked out only to find himself in a field with a large structure in the distance. Culotte had never seen anywhere quite like this. He wasn't sure what to make of any of it really, much less the rectangular object he'd been given at the gate. If he'd ended up here, had Priere too?

He kind of hoped so, not that he couldn't look after himself, of course, but what would Priere do without him? Or more to the point, what trouble would she get into without him?

Nothing good, that was for sure.

There was really only one way to find out if Priere had ended up here, and that was to ask. So the boy had begun to question various people along the street, but thus far none of his conversations with any of the townsfolk had been productive.

"Um, excuse me? You haven't happened to see a girl with hair kind of the same colour as mine around here have you?" he asked someone who looked rather like another gate guard who was heading back towards the gate.

"A lot of people pass through here, kid," was the rather unhelpful response.

"Oh. Well, uh, thanks anyways."

Watching the man walk off, Culotte sighed. Were they really ALL like this? He really hoped not, or finding Priere was going to be really difficult.

...A lion? That...was new. ...Sort of. Then again...Timon was a meerkat...and...there were...other...things...in the city...too...

Roxas gave a curious glance over to the lion, and something about the red mane struck him as familiar. Great...more things he remembered because of Sora. He saw the lion's journal sitting on the ground a few feet away. Well...if he was remembering this lion because of Sora, maybe the two of them had been friends?

The Nobody shook his head, and went to pick up the journal. He went to hand it to the large cat, then jumped a little when the lion...spoke to another boy. "Hey, lion, you dropped this..." he said, holding out the device. He gave the other boy a sidelong glance, trying not to look suspicious.

Now, Culotte was used to monsters and beasts. He'd seen a lot in his short life, being a demon hunter and all, but usually he had his sister between him and the monsters. In this case, he did not, though it didn't seem like it wanted to hurt him, but Culotte was still nervous as it approached.

Now, one thing Culotte wasn't very used to beasts suddenly talking to him like this. Sure, some in their world could speak, like the Eringers, but not usually the big beasts.

"Um. Ah. S-sorry? I don't know. I-I just got here," he managed, only noticing the other boy a moment later.

"It's not supposed to be food," Roxas said, giving the lion a curious look. He...wasn't as smart as the Nobody'd been expecting. "You use it to talk to other people in the city." Roxas didn't venture any further information to the lion, because he'd probably just get confused.

It was very strange, being the one to tell someone else about something. Roxas had so many questions for everyone, and he felt like he really didn't know anything at all. But then...in the grand scheme of it...he still knew almost nothing. The lion's question brought him out of his reverie, though.

"There are one or two places...let me get a map." He took out his own journal--basically identical to the one he'd just tried to hand back to the newcomer--and pushed a couple buttons, making the screen flicker for a moment. A map of the city came up, and Roxas zoomed in on the Joutenheim Gate, then picked out a few spots that were marked as restaurants.

"They're all only a short block from here," he said, showing the map to the lion and the other boy.

He left introductions alone, wanting to avoid them if at all possible. He didn't have a fake name like some of the Organization did, and he had no way of knowing whether they'd recognize his real name or not.

Culotte watched Roxas use the object with great curiosity. He hadn't known what to make of it, much less even begun to figure it out. (Of course, he'd certainly realized it wasn't food.) He'd had no idea there was a map on it, but had to admit, that was pretty useful. A lot better than the map scrolls he carried around.

"Wow, that's pretty neat!" Food wasn't really Culotte's concern, however.

"Hey, um, you haven't seen a girl who looks... well... kind of like she could be related to me around here, have you?" he asked, mainly directing his question at Roxas, but would be happy for an answer from either of them.

Roxas' eyes went wide at the "little" comment. "Hey, I'm not--" But his voice trailed off when the lion asked for a name. The Nobody couldn't really answer. He wasn't about to tell this lion who he was, because if this was one of Sora's friends there was no way to guarantee he didn't know about the Organization...and wouldn't try to kill him immediately.

He had the same concerns about the red-headed boy, too. "We're...humans," he said, trying to fudge an answer that would keep them from asking more specifically for his own name.

[identity profile] no-kitchen-sink.livejournal.com 2010-02-02 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
'Little' made Culotte twitch too. He wasn't THAT short... Sure he was under five feet, but...

"Yeah, humans, and my name is Culotte," the boy offered, being more forthcoming it seemed than the other boy. He was disappointed the beast hadn't seen his sister, but it had been a lot to hope for to begin with. "And thanks! I'd appreciate it," he added in response to him keeping an eye out for Priere. He'd take any help he could get at this point.

"Can I come too? I'm getting hungry myself." The nearest place was still a couple blocks, but if this lion had been one of Sora's friends, wouldn't it be a good idea to get to know him? Maybe...he could learn more about his Other from him. Or maybe he hadn't met Sora yet...that was just as likely.

He looked at his journal again, needing an excuse to keep his eyes turned from their faces. "There's a good place not far, and I can make sure you don't get lost."

[identity profile] no-kitchen-sink.livejournal.com 2010-02-02 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh... okay. Uh... Bye then," Culotte offered, before the lion turned to leave.

While food sounded good, finding his sister was more important to him at this point. Not that he still knew how exactly he was going to do that, but still... He had to at least try. Not to mention how hard Priere would probably hit him if she found him sitting around eating lunch instead of looking for her.

((OOC: Just thought of this--Roxas doesn't smell anything like Culotte does, and all the people milling around smell kind of like...nothing--literally. Important, since Simba can actually pick up on that stuff.)

That word bit Roxas hard. He should have thought of something else. He wasn't human...humans had hearts. It took a moment for him to realize that Simba had asked him a question.

"Huh?" After another second to process just what the lion had asked, the Nobody followed Simba's head up to the roof, spotting a handful of stone figures on the tops of buildings. "Oh...those aren't real. They're statues. Someone carved them out of rocks."

Again, Roxas saw the irony that he was explaining anything.

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-02-03 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Probably. I don't really know." ...Just like everything else. Roxas barely knew anything about Paixao, really. He was going to be a horrible tour guide.

But he stopped in his tracks. Timon...Timon had smelled Roxas, and been scared out of his mind. Simba didn't seem scared, but...what if he found out who Roxas was? Would he be so forgiving of the strange scent then? Not that it mattered. The lion was Sora's friend...not Roxas'. What difference did it make if the animal liked the Nobody?

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"It's...nothing," Roxas answered quietly. He heard the lion's stomach, and decided that continuing on their way was a good idea. Simba wasn't pursuing Roxas' name, so he probably wouldn't ask anything about what was really on the Nobody's mind, either.

Nonetheless, it was time to change the subject. "So...what kind of world are you from?"

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
The jungle? Roxas had never been there before. He wondered what it was like. "I've never seen a jungle...what's it like there?"

Again, Roxas avoided giving an answer to the more personal question. He didn't...really...know where he was from. He couldn't remember a thing from before he'd been in the Organization for at least a week, so where he was from was a complete mystery to him.

But thankfully, the restaurant was just up ahead. "That's it, with the big sign out in front."

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Wish I could go there," Roxas said as he held open the door for Simba.

Thankfully, the place wasn't too crowded, so a lion walking into the restaurant wasn't as much of an event as it could have been. "You sit down, and they ask you what you want from the menu. Then they bring it out to you."

It was probably going to take some time for a lion to get used to the idea of a sit-down restaurant.

"Lionesses? No..." Roxas didn't get what Simba was talking about, since he didn't know anything about how lion society worked.

"Yeah, th-we do." He caught himself, though not quite fast enough. "You don't have to use all that stuff, though. I don't think you could if you wanted to." The Nobody walked over to a table and pulled out a chair for himself, while moving the other chairs away to give Simba room. "We have forks and knives because we don't have claws like you." He pointed at the utensils that were sitting on the table. "Someone will be around soon to ask us what we want to eat. Hopefully they have something big enough for you..."
