King in Exile

Who: Simba, and anyone who wants to meet him! *Looks at Timon*
What: Simba ariives in Paixao.
When: Morning-Afternoon.
Where: Joutenheim Gate
Warnings: Unless Scar shows up, none.

Simba woke up slowly, just like every other day he had spent in the jungle, so it took him a little while to realize that he wasn’t there anymore. The large lion rolled to his feet, stretched, and yawned.

He was much more awake once he realized that he wasn’t in the jungle anymore, and that Timon and Pumba were nowhere to be seen. He wasn’t too worried about them though. They could take care of themselves. He was mostly surprised that he woke up in a place so much different from where he fell asleep.

Simba looked around, but the only place to go was toward this odd gate, the only opening in what looked like a large dome. Curious, the lion strolled over, and discovered a line of...things. He had never seen these bipedal creatures before. They had strange patterns of fur, and odd faces. Still, he was more curious than uncomfortable, and he approached the line and waited like everyone else.

There was another bipedal thing standing at the entrance. It held some floppy things in its…paw, and handed one to Simba. “Welcome to Paixao,” it said.

“Thanks.” Simba didn’t take the pamphlet, as it didn’t smell like something he should put in his mouth. The thing talked to him again before he was allowed into the city. “What’s your name?”

“Simba.”

The thing nodded, and let Simba pass, where he was just confronted with yet another one. It immediately handed the lion a strange blocky devise. Simba took it in his mouth, and walked away. He didn’t know what it was, but he didn’t like the taste of it. He spat it on the ground and pushed it here and there like a kitten with a possible new toy, but he lost interest, and left it on the ground.

Simba took a moment to look around. He had no idea what this place was, but it was filled with strange structures, and the bipedal creatures were literally everywhere. He spotted a few animals here and there, but found that they were either fake or dead when he approached them, which was a shame since he was starting to realize how hungry he was. He continued to roam the streets, trying to follow his nose on a small quest for food.

"No...we let people who are good at it do it for us. Most people couldn't hunt their own food if they were about to starve." Though most of the people brought here to Paixao were an entirely different matter, there weren't any animals to hunt anyway. He was missing the part where humans often got sick if they ate food that wasn't cooked right, but...he'd never been sick before, except for those few weeks a little bit after he joined the Organization.

Roxas looked up at the waiter and shrugged, giving a half-smile. He was sure they'd had stranger in here before, since he'd seen so many weird creatures just on the journals. Simba wasn't even the only lion who'd just entered the city. The Nobody ordered his meal, then looked to Simba.

"You'll probably have to keep asking until the waiter says they actually have it. I bet they won't have many things from the jungle on the menu."

Roxas blinked. "I...hope it's close to zebra?" He couldn't really describe it, since he didn't know what kinds of things the lion had tasted. "It's meat from an animal that people keep a lot of, though, so maybe you'll like it." What the heck did zebra taste like, anyway?

Roxas looked around the restaurant for a moment, but didn't see any familiar faces at all. He had a strange feeling that Timon would like this guy...

"It's not burned, it's cooked. People would get sick if they ate a lot of stuff raw." Roxas thought for a second about what food he liked best. It was a no-brainer, really. "I don't know about everyone else, but ice cream is definitely my favorite thing to eat. I'll have to take you to try some after we're finished!"

For the first time in a long while (and definitely the first time Simba had seen), Roxas seemed excited and enthusiastic. And for the first time, he wasn't worrying about the fact he wasn't human. Or that he still didn't have answers to so many questions.

"It usually takes longer," Roxas answered. They'd only been in the restaurant for a few minutes. "That's one of the problems with restaurants, you have to wait for your food." The Nobody was starting to get a little impatient himself, probably because the lion was getting antsy.

So, to keep conversation going, he decided to talk about his favorite treat. "Oh yeah, ice cream is a really cold food, but it's good! It kind of depends on what flavor you get as to how it tastes, though. The one I like is sweet, but really salty too, and I used to eat it with my friend all the time. I wish they had it here..."

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Roxas...didn't know how to answer that. "I...don't know how to make it. I just buy it from a store. I guess it has milk and sugar...but I don't know what else."

Thankfully, their wait wasn't too long this time, and the waiter brought out a big chunk of beef for Simba. Roxas stared at it until his own plate was put down, because the slab of meat placed in front of the lion was bigger than Roxas even knew they could get. The Nobody's meal was rather plain, though it was probably all things that Simba had never seen before. Burger, carrots, and french fries.

Roxas ate much slower than the lion, but then...it was pretty hard to eat as fast as something that could probably swallow half your head in one go. He also wasn't nearly that hungry.

"What do you think of it?" the blond asked between bites of his burger. It was standard fare, just like everything else in the city, but Simba seemed to be tearing at his raw steak with gusto.

The Nobody chuckled at Simba's answer. "Glad you like it," the blond said with a smile. Then his eyes went wide when Simba was done eating only a few minutes later. Roxas wasn't even half done with his own meal. Not even Axel ate that fast, wow.

"Do lions always eat that much so fast?" he asked, taking another bite of his half-consumed burger.

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh...it's just a cheeseburger and fries. And some carrots." Roxas looked at the shredded carrots, not really sure if he was going to eat them. They just came with the meal. "The burger is made from beef too, but it's way different from what you just ate."

"Sure!" Roxas tore off a piece of his burger, and set it on Simba's empty plate. Then he took another bite himself, and chuckled a little. It was nice sitting down to eat with a stranger, now that he thought about it. At least...Simba wasn't so bad to have a meal with. Maybe someone else might be worse.

"...Fun?" Roxas had to take a moment to think about that question. "Oh...uh...I guess..." What had Axel said about fun? Wasn't it supposed to be when you were laughing, and with your friends?

"I'm...not like most people, but...I usually eat ice cream." He looked toward the window, thinking of days talking with Axel on the clock tower in Twilight Town. They would stay up there for hours after missions, teasing each other and enjoying themselves while they ate their favorite ice cream. Most of those days were the same, going on missions and then getting ice cream, but some of them still stood out to him. He missed them...he missed getting to hang out with Axel, too. But...Axel was keeping something from Roxas, and wouldn't tell him anything about it at all.

Roxas sighed, completely lost in his thoughts. He'd forgotten Simba was even there, and a melancholy gloom had settled over him.

"Huh? Oh, right." The prod got Roxas back to the real world again, and he tried his best to stay there this time. "We have to pay for the food first, though. They don't give it away." The Nobody pulled out a pouch full of shiny bits and pieces from the flowers and trees outside, and then looked around for their waiter, waving him down. The waiter handed Roxas the bill, and then accepted the gems as payment, seeming completely oblivious to the fact that they could have been picked up right outside the cafe's front door. Roxas looked back at Simba when the waiter left, and shrugged.

"The paying part is easy, since no one who sells stuff seems to realize you can pick these up just about anywhere in the city." He held up the pouch of gemstones for Simba to see, then pointed out the window to a bunch of sparkling flower-shaped objects whose petals were just like the ones in the pouch. "Leaves, petals...just about anything that sparkles will work. They're not picky. Anyway, let's get some ice cream now."

He got up with a smile, and waited for Simba to start heading toward the door. He'd take the lead once he was sure the lion had enough room to leave the restaurant.

"I'd be surprised if anything here was natural," Roxas said, almost with a bit of a laugh. He pulled out his journal to check where the nearest spot with ice cream would be, then changed his direction a bit to get the straightest path to it.

It wasn't very far, thankfully. It was a pretty festive-looking place, with lots of weird detail in the building, and a big ice cream cone sign on top. Roxas ordered from the person behind the open-air counter. Again, he handed over some petals and leaves, and then he was handed two chocolate ice cream bars. He took them and came back to Simba smiling. "It's not my favorite, but these are still pretty good."

He held one out for the lion to try. "You have to bite into it to get to the ice cream, the outside's just a chocolate coating." Right after saying that, Roxas took a big bite of his own.
