Enter Toph
Character: Toph Bei Fong
Content: The Blind Bandit Arrives
Setting: Around Muspelheim Gate
Time: Late morning/Early Afternoon
Toph Bei Fong was not one to get lost. Thanks to her earthsight through her earthbending, she could always 'see' where she was. This situation though, was a little different.
The twelve-year-old remembered very well that she had fallen asleep in a cave with her friends, Aang, Sokka, and Katara. When she awakened however, they were nowhere to be...felt, and the area around her was much different from where she had slept the previous night.
Toph immediately got herself up, noticing hat she was outside of a large city that seemed to be encased in a large dome. If her friends were anywhere, it would be inside. Toph approached the gate, which she felt as an opening in the dome. She also felt heat and heard the crackling of fire, but she had a very strong feeling that this wasn't the Fire Nation. There was a line waiting outside, and she joined it, not trusting anyone to ask where she was or how she had gotten there.
It didn't take long for Toph to get to the front of the line. A person cheerfully asked her name while handing her a flyer, which she immediately threw on the ground. It was hard to read when your eyes didn't work. "Why does it matter to you?" She didn't receive an answer, but was pushed along, and a rectangular object shoved in her hands. The person who handed it to her said something about an 'electronic journal' and being able to use it to communicate. Toph was then shoved out of line, just inside the dome of the city.
"Great." Toph tumbled the object in her hands. If she really could communicate with it, maybe she could get a hold of Aang or the others. Not knowing how to work it, she yelled at the journal. "Hey, Twinkletoes! Where are you?!" She waited to get an answer, and tried yelling again after a while, but nothing happened. Frustrated, Toph picked a road and to walk down and started to search for her friends.

Enter nutjob, stage left.
And who might you be? he thought to himself while tapping against his kneecap in a rhythm of four. Tap, tap, tap, tap. Tap, tap, tap, tap.
:D
Toph could also tell that he was looking at her. She approached him as if he was as harmless as a sack of potatoes. Perhaps he could be of some use. "Hey you!" She pointed to him. "Who are you, and what is this place?" Toph had long ago abandoned any manners or decency.

She scowled as she listened to his excuse. Perfect. "Can you at least tell me how to work this thing?" She held up the electronic journal, which she had attempted to use seconds before. "I'm looking for my friends, but they're not answering me." Toph wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, but she knew enough to keep the details to herself.

He rose slightly from the ground and put his face inches away from Toph's own, breathing heavily as he quietly delivered a statement, "Give it time. You'll see the only friend you have here is me. You'll come to know everything: my laws, my philosophy, my power. Most importantly, you'll know my name."
no subject
He crossed the line by getting up in her face though. She wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior. Toph moved as if competing in a martial arts tournament, commanding the earth underneath the asshole to move away from her and taking him with it. She then remained in a stable stance, ready to earthbend and kick his ass should he choose to preform the wrong actions. "I wouldn't try that again if I were you. I'm the greatest earthbender there is, and I wouldn't mind kicking your ass!"
no subject
"Earthbending? That's new. Using the elemental power of solidarity as a weapon of propulsion and brute force. I'm not entirely unfamiliar with the concept, but not this execution. Oh, you're good. But you're no Master," he said with some amount of respect in his tone. "I'm sorry," now changing to a much more sarcastic attitude, "I'm just, I'm just so hungry. I could eat so much right now. I'm starving."
no subject
"If you're so hungry, then go find something to eat. I don't have anything for you." It was obvious that this guy wasn't going to fight back. At least, for now. She turned her back on him and walked down the street. She had more important things to worry about than some crazy hungry guy.

As she began walking away, something clicked inside The Master's head. Rather, something boomed in his head. She is blind, idiot.
"Your other senses are improved, beyond human. You could hear them!" he yelled as he chased her down and grabbed her by the shoulders as his breathing became frantic like an emotional breakdown. "You can hear them. You can hear them, can't you? Please, hear them!"
no subject
When he came up to grab her, Toph immediately stomped on his foot and punched him in the stomach. "Get off me!" Once again, her movements became fluid, and the rock below Mr. Crazy moved again. This time, it came up and trapped his ankles so he couldn't move from his spot until he broke free from the rock. "I don't know what you're talking about, but if you don't leave me alone, you'll be really, really sorry." Next time, she'd crush the crazy bastard with a boulder.

He began rubbing his palms together and built up a strange energy between his fingers that crackled sharply like wood snapping. Suddenly, a single palm extended and shot a small bolt of blue lightning across the ground Toph began walking toward and ignited a row of flame. "JUST. LISTEN!"
no subject
She cracked her knuckles, and almost sent him a nice large rock to the face, but then, something clicked. Maybe this guy had some information. Maybe he knew something about the Fire Nation that she didn't, and could maybe relay that info to her friends...when she found them. Toph kept her guard up, but decided to humor Mr. Crazy. She commanded the earth just behind her to rise and make a sort of bench, in which she sat down and started picking the dirt and grime from between her toes. "Fine. I'm listening, but I don't got all day."
no subject
He crouched in front of her and put his eyes on level with hers, even if the image would be lost on Toph. "When I was your age, my elders had me look into the heart of time itself. It swirled in my mind and all I could see and hear become meaningless. There was only this." He held up his hands to the temples of his head and pressed his palms against them like a vice. "They never ever stop. They've been their all my life and they'll never stop."
no subject
She reached out and put a hand on his shoulder. "I don't think I can help you there Crazy-man. This is a pretty big city though. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone to help you with your mental problems." If only Sokka was here. She was sure he'd be able to come up with a better comment.
no subject
He began to notice he was tapping the rhythm that was in his head through his hands on the edge of the rock bench Toph had constructed. "That. The drums. Can't you hear them? You have superior senses through your blindness. You have to hear the drums. You hear them, don't you?"
no subject
"You talk like you aren't human yourself. You feel perfectly human to me." Toph poked his shoulder. Yup. Flesh, bones, and blood all felt human to her. Maybe he wasn't as crazy as she thought, but he still seemed pretty unstable. "Look, I told you. I can't help you. I just want to find my friends, help Aang with his earthbending, and kick some firebender butt."
no subject
"I was human once. A miserable excuse of a man. They were the worst years of my life. Fiddling with existance and wishing the answers would come to me. Humans are disgrace to the whole of time and space. They destroy. They kill, maim, slice, consume, and offer nothing in return. I am greater. I am greater than those who are great," he said as he placed his own hand over his chest. "I possess the two hearts of the eldest race in history. You'll feel it, you'll hear it...if you only listen."
no subject
"You know, being human isn't all bad." Toph was still sitting on her make-shift bench, and she went back to picking her toes. "Are you sure you're not just hearing your heart beat?" It was obvious to her now that he certainly wasn't human, but that wasn't an excuse for his behavior.
no subject
"They don't hear the drums, calling them back to the battlefield. Calling them back to service. I hear it every day of my life. The drums of the greatest war in the whole of time. That is my heartbeat. The noise in my head is something different. It's who I am, it's all that I'll ever be." He rose in front of her, enforcing an intimidating presence as much as he could. "It's more like a ticking bomb. A time bomb. And you know what?"
He smiled and chuckled through the next sentence. "I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO GO OFF! HAHAHA!" The last laugh created a tear. With the sound of fabric tearing, The Master's flesh became translucent and exposed a skeletal face with deadly eyes staring down the young earthbender.
ooc: here (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NvhnTb-4j3k/Sz6WBoISEjI/AAAAAAAAFFo/BGeUg4dYiaw/s400/2.jpg) is what he looks like during his "flashes."
no subject
The earthbender hopped up from her little bench and commanded the rock that made it to go back to how it was previously. "Yeah. Have fun with that. You know what? I'd like to go find my friends so I can tell them about this little revelation of yours. I'll see ya around."
no subject
Another leap into the air, and any trace of him was gone.
no subject
Since The Master was kind enough to leap into the air before he disappeared, Toph couldn't tell that he had disappeared. For all she knew, he would come back down. She waited to feel and hear a thump from his hard landings, but it never came. She had no idea where that crazed asshole went, or how he managed to disappear, but in the end, she really didn't care. At least he had left her alone so she could look for Aang, Katara, and Sokka.
