In Search of a Door... [Active/Closed]

Character(s): Prince of Persia, Genie, Balthier, Sara Sidle, Rinoa Heartily, Jecht, Urd, others
Content: An expedition group meets up before setting out for Destiny Island~!
Setting: Niflheim, then St. Destino
Time: Week 14, mid-morning
Warnings: None that I can think of!

Although Prince had never been to Niflheim before, as he arrived in the area he was struck by its familiarity. It greatly resembled Joutenheim, the first place he had ever seen in Paixao, and he looked around with sudden, reignited homesickness. The gates here were ice, unlike Joutenheim's, and Prince scrutinized them from a distance, eager for the distraction. Why did they not melt? It was warm, and the sun was blaring above.

Well; no matter. He had seen stranger things. The 'door' in St. Destino, for instance. He had explored the area before, briefly, with a curious companion called DEATH, and had found the islands, but no second door within them. Hopefully, this would soon be rectified.

What futile thoughts. You will go, and search, and fail or succeed; there is little point thinking about it. Irritated, the Prince crossed his arms over his chest. His inner voice might be right, but that didn't mean his anxious mind was going to listen. In any case, his patience was fast being eroded, and he found himself hoping that the others would arrive soon.

Sara walked nonchalantly towards Niflheim, looking forward to getting out of the city for a while, and more than likely finding out more information about this city. She had an idea of who had been the person to make the announcement about the city being in Castle Oblivion. She wouldn't have put it past Marluxia, now that he wasn't a member of the Organization anymore.

She sighed, clicking her journal closed and looking around for anyone who looked like they were ready for a journey outside the domes. She didn't see anyone near the gate, so she took a seat on a bench and waited, still distracted by her thoughts.

Balthier arrived not long after, gun resting casually on his shoulder. He glanced around the gate area, "Hmm"ing to himself quietly before approaching the gate. "So this is where the bold adventurers are to meet, isn't it? Everyone remember to pack the necessities?" he asked lightheartedly. "Wouldn't do to go all that way and find someone forgot something. It sounds like it would be a dreadfully long trip back."

"Now, what sort of group are we to expect to come along?"

Not surprisingly, Fran arrived close on Balthier's heels, bow slung across her back. Group though there was already, she would not leave him to search alone. Someone had to make sure there was an eye on his back, and it might as well be someone who was used to doing so.

"One to match the city, no doubt."

A ragtag group of determined people. It would do.

Rinoa walked through the streets towards Niflheim, and though she had managed to explore much of the city, Nifleheim was still a new area to her. Depspite that, she had still managed to find the designated meeting place, and as she saw the group of people that had gathered so far, she smiled.

"Well, looks like the group is starting to come together already."

Squall's own opinion of the slowly gathering group - if he even had one - was something he would most likely be keeping to himself. They might have all been willing to take care of the problem but that didn't mean that they'd actually do alright at it. But he wasn't in charge of things anyway. No need to worry someone else about it.

"Looks like it."

"So when can we get the party started?" Urd's sultry voice called as she descended from the sky, seemingly out of nowhere, her long white hair flowing around her as if it were as unaffected by gravity as she was. She landed gracefully by the growing group, one hand on her hip, a small smile curving her lips. There was a lot of potential in this group already. All of them so desperate to find a way out.

She wasn't as passionate, but she was curious...and she felt it her duty to protect the mortals should they need it.

“Oh my, fur and whiskers! I'm late, I'm late I'm late!” A rather distressed voice suddenly rose from behind the group. Before they could turn to find the source of all the commotion, an oddly familiar looking white rabbit appeared before the explorers. “Oh, I'm so late! I'm so very, very late!” He shook his pocket watch in front of the small crowd and pointed to it franticly. “What the Hatter said must have been true; this clock is exactly two days slow. Oh goodness…” The rabbit’s eyes slowly wandered back to his watch. “What… Is that sound?”

Without warning, the pocket watch burst open, jam, butter and tea spilling everywhere along with its parts. “M-m-my wheels! My springs!” The rabbit cried in horror. He knew his precious watch was far beyond repair. “It was an unbirthday present too…”

As yet another surprise, the little white rabbit disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke to reveal the ever so late Genie. He chuckled sheepishly and shared a wide toothy smile with the group. “My apologies for being so late. Youtube is sooo distracting. Maybe not as much as tvtropes, but it certainly sucks you in. One Rick Astley video just isn’t enough. I had to watch all of them.”

It then occurred to him that none of them probably had the faintest idea of what he was talking about. Well, other than Urd. Maybe it was better if he didn’t explain. “But please continue! You mentioned weaponry, didn’t you? Called out the thunder! Let’s see what’s gonna go boom!”

"Sure am!" Jecht hollered from the back, holding his sword up above his head. "Anyone whose more of a mage, or, y'know somethin' like that -- I'll provide some cover for ya if you figger you could use it!" he volunteered. Having fought alongside Braska had taught him a wide range of protective stances, especially when it was just him and Auron doing most of the physical damage.

Urd glanced over her shoulder and smirked flirtatiously at Jecht. "Feel free to cover me, Jecht," she called out invitingly. "That is if you think you can keep up," She laughed, tossing her hair off her shoulders. She didn't really think she'd need much in the way of defense, but she couldn't pass up the opportunity to lighten the mood a bit more. To her, this was a curious expedition and not the life-threatening battle the Prince seemed prepared for.

Someone knew how to make an entrance, didn't he? It was... interesting to say the least, but having encountered the djinn once before, there was considerably less confusion and significantly more amusement than there would have been.

Balthier set his gun next to him, fishing through one of the pouches at his thigh for a bag of shot. "I've a firearm and a few magicks at my disposal," he replied to the Prince's inquiry as he began to change out the ammo in his gun (Wyrmfire seemed as though it'd do well). "Though should the need arise and one happens to have the weapon at his disposal, I've also a fine swordarm. My partner here and I have also made a short trip to the islands before. Expect to have a veritable swarm of the creatures rallying for our demise."

An entrance to almost match some of Balthier's more flamboyant efforts, indeed. It was almost refreshing, if not a bit confusing.

"We call to them, it seems," Fran offered, shifting her stance slightly so as to be able to rest a hand on her hip. No surprise there, given they seemed to be highly aggressive and quite predatory. A problem indeed if they were to grow to a size beyond the comparatively small size they'd seen on their trip. "As for weapons, I have both bow and some manner of magick."

((I don't mind popping up to Darkside right now. Since, ah, it's been a long time since the thread was put up and everything. o.o;;))
