He really hadn't expected Flonne to suddenly vanish. She'd been here almost as long as he had. Laharl had come to take it for granted, but the city--castle? Whatever this place was-- it had once more proven that nothing could be taken for granted.

So soon after his mother had disappeared, the effects of someone important to him vanishing were upon him again. Just... why did it have to be Flonne?

It was for the best! It was better she wasn't here. It was a fact he had to keep reminding himself of.

Flonne had been injured in more ways than one here, much like himself. If she could forget that, it would be better for her. It was things she shouldn't have ever had to even experience, after all. Not to mention this also would free him of that stupid confession. He couldn't decide if he regretted it or not, but he certainly hadn't been ready in the slightest. He still hated being backed into a corner like he had, and repeatedly wondered why he hadn't held out.

Well, then 'Mid-Boss' would have revealed it instead, wouldn't he? At least, that was the impression he'd gotten.

Oh well, whatever. It was all moot now. Flonne would forget it all, and that was that.

Still, Laharl felt miserable inside, for reasons he just couldn't fathom. She was gone, but he really still wished she wasn't.

Sighing, he looked down over the city below him. The sun in the fake sky was vanishing, but it was still clear enough to see, especially from his vantage point, high on a stone arch that was one of many that supported the gigantic domed ceiling.

"Ugh... stupid feelings..." he muttered to no one in particular, resting his head on his drawn up knees. The prang of loneliness just didn't want to go away, and it annoyed him no end.

Etna's facial expression turned serious. She immediately made a note to herself to watch out for these black coat guys. Obviously, anyone who messed with Flonne had to pay, but if Laharl has been having trouble with them, they must have been really tough to get to. And with herself being, well, weak she had to make sure she kept herself from getting into trouble.

"Huh. I sorta expected you to just bust everything down finding Flonne. You sure these Organization guys don't have her this time too?"

In her mind, Etna felt a bit sad to know Flonne's been subjected to whatever Laharl meant by 'did crap to them.' Flonne was the most harmless person she knew, and really wanted to know why anyone would want to kidnap that Love Freak.

At some point during the demon's conversation, Urd had casually begun repair the damage the earlier bout had caused. Not moving from her spot in the sky -- in fact, she got a little more comfortable by crossing her legs and leaning forward like she was sitting on a chair -- she lifted one finger and directed the cast off rubble back to their place on the arches and buildings. Small stone pebbles, huge chunks of rock; it all flew around them as they talked.

"Flonne is definitely gone," she finally spoke up, the last of the repairs finished with a crunch of a large portion of an arch sliding into place. Floating down to stand next to them, Urd added, "There are ways of knowing."

She glanced down at Laharl, eyebrow raised. "Don't forget to tell her about your fath--"

"Wait, hold on, what was that? What about the King?" Etna quickly asked, jolting her head towards that woman. Why would she come out about that so suddenly? Etna haven't heard about the late king in so long, it was weird hearing it for the first time in a while from some woman with melons.

"What's going on Prince?"

The barest twitch of an eyebrow was the only reaction Urd gave in reaction to Laharl's near meltdown. So that's how it was? This little demon just got more and more interesting. She broke her gaze from the prince and smiled at Etna, waving a dismissive hand. "It's not a big deal," she said lightly before Laharl had the chance to try to answer for himself. "An illusion of the former Overlord was seen awhile back. There are some people around here who like to use your memories against you." Her smile turned sweeter as she reached out and patted Laharl's head a little too roughly.

"Isn't that right, Laharl~?"

Unfortunately for the two of them, Etna did not completely buy it. Sure, Laharl did have memories of his dad and sure, it could be used against him, but something seemed... off about that exchange. Like there was more to it than that.

"Uh huh... an illusion of the king. Well, if you say so," she said in an uninterested tone.

"Well, I'll let you two get reacquainted," Urd said, changing the subject. "Laharl has just been helpless without his vassals," she whispered conspiratorially (and audibly) to Etna as she walked past her. With that, she turned and walked backwards, giving the demon prince a significant smile over Etna's head.

"We'll talk later, little prince." Then, she stepped off the building entirely, floating up into the night sky and into the shadows.

"Helpless without me, I'm so sure~" Etna watched as, ah, the goddess floated away and just idly listened to Laharl yelled at her.

"So you were fighting with a goddess, huh? Funny, she certainly doesn't seem too much like one." Whether that was an insult or a compliment was anyone's guess.

Powerful, enough so to walk away from a fight with the Prince. Etna must admit, she was a bit impressed.

"Mm hmm~! If you know where, anyway. Since you've been here for so long." At least, she would think he'd know, since even if he didn't eat her pudding he'd want to find a place to eat some. She didn't figure the different timelines thing into her assumption though.
