Content: Quina meets the Beast and encounters the Heartless
Setting: In the Joutenheim area, near Cid’s shop.
Time: Night time
Warnings: Possible violence?

Quina wandered through the streets after its day’s work finished at the restaurant feeling, as usually, very hungry. It had not been a very good few weeks for the gourmand – the darkness that occurred a few weeks before was such an inconvenience for the Qu. Could see anything that it could eat. And it missed that party that the strange red-haired man was talking about. It was quite grateful when the light returned to the city. Quina would not mind eating up whoever was responsible.

As it was hunting for food, its path was stopped by one of those things with yellow eyes. Quina had seen quite a number of them. It was not completely sure what they were - only that it heard somewhere that they were called Heartless. Quina was not completely sure if they were edible or not. They had attacked it a few times but they disappeared before Quina thought that it was weak enough to eat. It also recalled Zidane’s journal mentioning that it was not a good idea to eat them although being Quina, it could not help but wonder…

Beast had no appreciation for the shadows that had fallen over the city, nor for the strange creatures they brought up from the dark. He hated the way they smelled, and he'd had to defend himself from them more than once. They were weak, but there were always enough of them to make him furious.

Beast still couldn't read the map, and didn't know where he was. He could find his way back to his room, though. He'd fought a number of the dark creatures on the way, as he had been forced to over the last couple weeks. He spotted one standing in his way ahead, in front of someone whose features were indistinguishable from so far away.

With a roar that shook the streets and knocked the small shadow over, Beast leaped forward, raking into the wispy darkness with all his strength. It dissipated quickly, leaving Beast standing by himself, shoulders heaving with his ragged panting.

These creatures were definitely different than the fiends of Spira and Zanarkand; they seemed to crawl right out from a horror theater or something. That and the big guy didn't seem all too friendly. Well, and the other big guy... girl... thing?... didn't look as menacing as it did clueless. But the enemy of my enemy is my friend, right? Taking that in mind, getting rid of the Heartless together with these dudes didn't seem like a bad idea.

Running toward a larger Heartless enemy, Tidus jumped on it and kicked himself away from it, charging up his sword. "Energy Rain!" The energy beams from the Brotherhood sword temporarily lit up the enemy, but caused a rather prominent group of Heartless to melt away like a snowball in Hell. Of course, much like ants, there were always more to take their places.

"Hey, big guy!" He called out to Beast. "You got any special moves to help mow through these pests?"

Before Quina had time to react, the Beast appeared and in a moment, the Heartless was gone. Quina could not help but be slightly annoyed – it did not have time to decide whether or not to eat it yet!

However, before it could say anything, more Heartless appeared, some of which sprang towards Quina straight away. The Qu did not have time to think and so began to swipe at the incoming creatures with its fork. The creatures disappeared quite quickly. However, more came at Quina before it had time to think and it had to defend itself. It did not even notice the appearance of Tidus.

Beast had no idea what the blond boy was talking about, and was nothing short of astonished at the way he destroyed so many of the Heartless at once. He roared a second time, this one so powerful that some of the Shadows were immediately wiped out. With another great leap he slashed into the crowd of darkness, putting all his might into every sweep of his claws.

"... that counts as a special move to me!" Tidus grinned. Taking out a blitzball, he figured showing off another one of his moves would look impressive as well as getting rid of several of the Heartless. Throwing the blitzball, it ricocheted off of a Heartless as Tidus jumped up in the air, performing a back flip as he kicked the blitzball back at the group of Heartless, once again defeating a number of them. "Jecht Shot!" As much as he had issues with his old man, he certainly did make a hardass technique that was useful for situations such as these and not just in the sphere pool.

Quina saw the blitzball destroy several of the Heartless. It was still annoyed that it had not even had the time to even have a taste of the creatures. However, it had no time to complain as more Heartless were coming towards it. Quina put itself in a defence stance and started to slash at the Heartless with its fork once again. However, even though the Heartless disappeared reasonably quickly, more of the creatures appeared and approached it.

((OOC: Okay, so...I really can't think of a post for Beast for this spot, so...skip him for now, I guess? I'll throw him back in at some other point, just assume he's taking out more Heartless or something. x.x It's not even that the muse is dead, I just can't post for him right here. X.X *headdesk*

"I knew I should have gone and learned Ultima or Flare from the Sphere Grid, but noooooo I chose to go through the other sections first..." Tidus sighed, as he continued slashing away at the legion of heartless which approached the group. "Do these things just keep on coming, or is there actually an end to them?!" He shouted, hoping that somebody had an answer.

How many more of them were coming? Quina was starting to get tired. And hungry. It even started to wonder if it really was worth wanting to try and eat them....

Just then, when the Qu was not looking, a shadow came up behind it, about to strike...

((OOC: Not sure about this one. Was thinking of Quina getting hurt but I'm not sure if it's appropriate since this is a backlog!))
