Just another walk through the park in the dark (Active / OPEN)
Character(s): Celes and OPEN
Content: Celes goes for a walk
Setting: J5 or so
Time: Week 8, Night
Warnings: possible battling of Heartless later?
It wasn't the first time Celes had gone somewhere alone and blind. She supposed she was lucky to get so far without incurring many scrapes or bruises even with the number of Heartless things running around and amok. Still, it was good practice and rather satisfying to churn her way through the massive amount of things in her way. Every so often, she'd let loose with a spell so she could see her way through, but for the most part the glow of their eyes provided enough of a light source that she wasn't very worried about hitting anything she didn't want to hit.
Cutting through a particularly obnoxious one, Celes thought about the last time she'd fought anything or anyone and scowled slightly, earning her a scrape on the arm from one of the little shadow things. Kefka had been her last encounter and even though he'd ended up depleting his magic supply so he had to flee, she didn't consider it a true victory. That was why she still had to train... that and who knew what other things would turn up in this strange world, place, city, whatever it was.
Grumbling to herself inwardly, the ex-general sliced around with both blades, happy for the fact that she at least hadn't lost her touch. With any luck, she never would. That would be a rather embarassing headline: "Former General Gets Ousted By Shadows." She shuddered to think of what a field day Kefka would have with that. Twirling herself around like a dancer, she stabbed one that had been trying to sneak up on her from behind, before wheeling around and aiming at a sound on the other side.
At least she still had a good spar to cool her off.

Comparatively, these ones were tame. Annoying, but that was about it. And with them being too low to the ground most of them time his usual tactic of hitting them with his zapstick wasn't exactly the best. So it was on to plan B. After all, no Turk had just one sort of weapon. It was part of the training and he could at least rely on that if nothing else.
Besides, there was a certain enjoyment to be found in lighting them up with Thunder spells.

"Ohohohohohoho!"
Fire exploded in the middle of a group of heartless, obliterating any caught in it's wake. Darting along the large rooftop, the figure surveyed the area once more. While some were being annoyed, she was rather enjoying herself. However, she was sure there'd been several more clusters of heartless around only a short time ago. Where had they gone? Making her way across the rooftops the figure stopped, peering down at the female hume below who was busily dispatching heartless after heartless. And she was quite certain she was seeing some thunder spells not too far away too.
It seemed she wasn't the only one to brave the darkness.
Another movement caught her attention out of the corner of her eye. Ah! More heartless were approaching. Promptly she began to cast once more, magic lighting her up in the darkness. The spell would take several moments to cast, so Shantotto took the time to call down from her roof perch at the female.
"Well well, what do we have here? You picked a rather strange time for a walk, my dear."
Kaboom!
The flare spell promptly took care of the heartless. Well, at least that group. From what the tarutaru had observed so far, there were plenty more where those had come from.

"Perhaps that was my intention," she answered evenly, glancing around for the source of the voice as she made notes about it as well. "I could say the same to you."
As for the source of the thunder spells, she wasn't going to address it until it addressed her. Whether that was by voice or attack she didn't know, but her guard was up anyway and she muttered, "Runic," under her breath as she took another swing, hoping the ability would take hold.

Thus the comparatively simple solution of coming out to zap Heartless to death. Hell, he hadn't even really had any plans for where he was going, apart from 'outside'. But given what he'd seen so far, he'd picked the right direction. People to talk to and explosions. A good place to start, even if he did have to keep an eye out for attacking shadows.
Like the batch creeping up from one side, dealt with in the same way as the others - a bright flash of lightning.
...*headdesks... tracks thread*
Lightning seemed rather popular now, so Shantotto cast a powerful thundaga spell amidst another group of heartless, strikes of lightning hitting all in the group and lighting up the area for a moment, before darkness once more took over.

"If you're going to be blind, you may as well get some use out of it," she agreed, dispatching another heartless or two. At least the lightning wasn't being aimed at her so she didn't need to worry about Runic acting up again here.
"If I find a training ground, I use it. Why let it go to waste?"
no subject
"Name's Reno, by the way." The comment was punctuated by another crackle of lightning. Whatever the things were, they certainly had the 'advantage' of numbers, although that didn't really mean much with them so easy to kill.
no subject
Light formed around her yet again, as she released a blizzaga into yet another group of heartless. These things were so simple to kill. Almost too easy.
"Professor Shantotto," the Tarutaru informed them, since it seemed an exchange of names was now taking place.
no subject
"Celes," she answered. "At least I know the names of my comrades now." Even if they weren't much for conversation. Like she could talk, though.
no subject
But on the other hand, what could it hurt to have a little more conversation amidst the flickers and flashes of light.
"You wanted somethin' more?"
no subject
Would there ever be an end to the flood? Even she did have her limits, not that she'd reached them at all yet, of course, but eventually she would need to rest. For now the Tarutaru remained almost silent, but for the odd chuckle, having nothing at the moment to contribute.
no subject
"Didn't really expect anything of the sort, considering the current situation, but it's useful all the same."
Hey, heartless, hope you're ready for Drain and Rasp. At least Celes was certain she wouldn't be running out of energy or magic any time soon.
no subject
"Lookin' for anything in particular? Or just somethin' more than th' sounds of Thunder?"
Like the one he sent at the Heartless. Why change what had already been working?
