The Merrymakers [Completed]

Character(s): Belldandy, Genie
Content: Definitely Not Plotting Of Any Sort
Setting: Iriela Apartments
Time: Week 10, Unknown
Warnings: None.

Her name had a ring to it (pun intended). Belldandy, he thought to himself. Even after being introduced to the goddess by her elder sister he was still, if not more so now, eager to meet her. Urd had told him quite a bit about Belldandy and her situation - or rather what it had been given Paixao’s intrusion and all. Keiichi, living on Earth, Heaven… It was all quite touching though equally as worrisome when it threatened to unbalance things. He was curious as to what her thoughts were on all this however would do his best to restrain from asking such personal questions. After all, such matters were not his business.

Genie wondered how Urd had taken her sisters arrival. From what he remembered she had been rather relieved she hadn’t been stuck in the city. Perhaps she had felt Belldandy was safer at home, he knew he certainly felt the same. Although, having Aladdin around would have certainly helped. The boy was a lot smarter than him when it came to plotting against a villain. If he were there he would already have a plan all laid out and be half way through it by now where as the genie was beginning to feel doubts. His plan only went so far. If he had to he would overpower Maleficent but it was only a last resort, one that he wasn’t even sure he could pull off. Who knew how powerful the witch was. After all, she was the ‘Mistress of All Evil’.

With little light to guide him through the streets, the genie found himself making a number of sharp turns to avoid flying into any buildings. He would have simply followed the string to the ‘telephone’ he had given to Urd but Belldandy had not made it clear or not whether or not she still possessed it. She did not leave far from him though, so going without it he was sure he could find his way to her apartment. The only trouble was finding her room again.

He's here. Belldandy felt an energy signature unfamiliar to her, but it had a warm feeling to it... obviously it could not have belonged to a corrupt soul. Certainly, with an aura that was on par with a first class god, Belldandy's being almost shivered at the thought of the power he must have felt behind that energy signature... they were on the same power level, at the very least, though it wasn't set in stone. It was almost as if she wanted to some day compete with him in some manner to test their abilities against each other, but now was not the time for it. Putting on a smile, she stood up, dusting her lap off, and opened the door to the apartment, following the trace of Genie's energy signature as to greet him.

"It's a pleasure to be able to meet you in person, Genie-san!" A sincerely warm smile made itself known on her face, as she made out Genie's figure in the dimly lit hallway.

He certainly was a sight to behold; to Belldandy, he seemed almost reminiscent of Keiichi-san's senpai duo, but he had a charm all to himself that made her gasp in awe. No wonder why Nee-san was speaking so fondly of him! Bowing, she then handed Genie-san her business card, as a formal procedure of a Goddess First Class, after all. "I could sense your energy waves, and they were warm and glowing, much like yourself." She smiled at him, tilting her head. "You are indeed powerful and mighty, on par with those in our world's Heaven; it truly is an honor to be able to meet with you and speak with you like this." She explained.

Opening the door for him, she invited him in. "Would you appreciate some tea, or some other snacks while you're our guest, Genie-san?"

Setting down some jasmine tea and two cups, Belldandy knelt at the table and smiled once again at the djinn. If anything, he was quite entertaining and comical to the point where Belldandy found herself tittering quite a bite; no wonder why Nee-san took a liking to him; the woman did love watching her dramas on the television and such, and Genie-san definitely seemed like a lively sort of person.

"Now, as to not waste your time, I believe we should discuss what to do about this darkness." Belldandy poured Genie some tea, though her face was just as sweet as ever despite the somber topic at hand. "I don't mean to be rude, as a newcomer to Paixao being so bold, but if Maleficent-san is causing trouble for everybody, I as a Goddess First Class as my duty must face her."

"Not yet," Urd's low voice came from behind them. Her silhouette formed out of the shadows that descended from a hallway. The warm glow of the candles in the main room lit her face, revealing the serious expression on her face, making her eyes appear black. She passed by them, walking into the open kitchen to retrieve a rather tall bottle as she spoke. "We imbued an item with our combined power," she explained. "It's probably the only way to cut through the thorns around the city."

She joined her sister and Genie at the table, sitting down with casual grace to pop open the sake bottle and pour herself a generous drink. Glancing at Genie, she smirked before taking a drink. "Now we just need ourselves a hero."

If their abilities were able to meld together despite different utilizations and schools of magic... that was amazing. Or perhaps it was because they were somehow in harmony with each other; either way, it proved to be a valuable asset, thought Belldandy. However, if it took two of them, a djinn and a second class goddess' powers combined to combat an essence of Maleficent-san's powers... then that was only a precursor to things to come, wasn't it?

"Is a hero necessary?" Belldandy blinked as she tilted her head. Certainly that was the way things were in faerie tale books, but perhaps... "If we undo my seal, I may be able to access more power, and we may stand a greater chance." Certainyl it was a breach of regulations, but they were outside of Yggdrasil's jurisdiction.

"Things work differently here, sis, you know that," Urd said quietly after listening to Genie. "I don't think it'd be that simple...this is power we've never experienced, after all." She sighed, taking another drink of her sake and leaning back. Sora was on the other side? How did he manage that? This was just perfect.

"...maybe I can find a way to bring him in while you two have your peace talk with Maleficent," she mused. "It won't be a problem for me to get out. Getting back in, though..."

"If Maleficent-san has dealt with this before, then dealing it in the same manner as before will just as she expected." Belldandy solemnly stated. "Following the 'script' so to speak, may be more of a dilemma than anything else. If Sora-san is who she is expecting... perhaps we must either appoint somebody else or take an alternate route." The younger sister offered.

Urd glanced at Belldandy, mildly surprised at her insistence. Her focus shifted to Genie once more, listening to the plan with equal solemnity. Reaching out to take the wrapped club on the table, she nodded. "And what if your 'friendly chat' turns unfriendly? I know you guys will be okay, but..." She trailed off, looking down at her cup of sake, worry not quite as hidden on her face as she would have liked.

It felt a bit odd, with out of the three present Belldandy being the one out of sync with the other two almost on the same wavelength. In any case, Belldandy then reverted to her smiling self. "In that case... isn't there a reflective surface on the other side of the thorns?" Belldandy inquired. "If I have a clear idea of where he is, I should be able to transport myself there... I may not be able to leave Paixao, but I've found that I'm still able to travel through mirrors." She offered. "I could very well bring the Club of Truth to Sora-san, eliminating a few steps." Obviously Genie wouldn't be aware of her teleportation abilities, and Urd wouldn't be able to use hers since there were no televisions in Paixao as far as Belldandy knew.

"And if our chat with Maleficent-san turns unfriendly..." Belldandy looked down at the table at her tea cup between her hands. "Well, I will use all of the power at my disposal to buy Sora-san time."

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-08-21 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure you two will have your hands full dealing with Maleficent and whatever else she may decide to throw your way," Urd replied after finishing the sake in her cup with a deep swallow. She glanced sidelong at Belldandy, the expression on her face grave. "It's not a good idea to underestimate the other powers here. We may have been unrivaled in our own worlds but Paixao works differently. Let me bring the Club of Truth to Sora while you guys talk to Maleficent...if we time it right, she won't notice something is wrong until it's too late."

[identity profile] my-blessedbell.livejournal.com 2009-08-21 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Belldandy simply nodded. "All right." But Urd was right... Belldandy was so used to the power levels in their own world that she was underestimating the people here in Paixao. If nobody at all, even the deities that they were, could get out then things were obviously on a different playing field. A bit humbled, Belldandy sighed. "We'll go with that plan, then." She agreed, and poured some more tea.

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Funny you should mention that," Urd replied, the mischievous smile on her face erasing all traces of her earlier solemnity. She reached delicately into the belt of her dress and withdrew what appeared to be a small, pearlescent pink marble. "Why don't you two just save yourselves the trouble and slip the witch this?" She placed it on the center of the table and leaned back, smirking. "The Virtue Volumizer would make her a lot more receptive to your pleas. I don't think she'll have a change of heart otherwise."

Of course, having no way of knowing what Maleficent's biology was or how it worked, the likelihood of the pill working as predicted was pretty low, but Urd didn't seem to think about such a small issue.

[identity profile] my-blessedbell.livejournal.com 2009-08-26 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Nee-san's potions always work when they're supposed to." Belldandy smiled. She hadn't heard of the Virtue Volumizer before, but certainly nobody could outclass Urd when it came to the pharmalogical arts. "But... I don't think it would mean anything should she not listen to our pleas and act on them if it's not out of her own volition, Nee-san. Perhaps it should be more of a last resort...?" Always the one to value one's own choice first and foremost, Belldandy's expression grew a bit solemn; her hesitance in Urd's plan was fairly obvious.

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-08-27 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Urd sighed, a small smile on her face. Their reaction wasn't exactly surprising, but it left her feeling a bit bemused. And concerned. To think that they actually thought Maleficent might change of her own accord seemed incredibly naive to her. Then again, Belldandy's faith in the good of others had sometimes yielded surprising results. Sometimes Urd suspected that her little sister's faith in others was what generated the desired result in the first place.

"Okay," she said now, gently taking the concealed Club of Truth. She stood from the table, glancing between Genie and Belldandy. "I'll bring this to our brave hero now."

[identity profile] my-blessedbell.livejournal.com 2009-08-29 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Please be careful, Nee-san." Belldandy wished her sister well as she stood. "If anything happens, please do not hesitate to alert either of us."

She then turned to Genie. "A fruitcake sounds like a wonderful idea! I'll go ahead into the kitchen and begin baking one up right away!" She smiled, as she happily made her way to the kitchen.

Urd watched Belldandy's retreating back with a wry half smile, but turned to gaze at Genie quietly as he spoke. She tilted her head and gave him a confident smile, patting his hand on her shoulder lightly. "You too, handsome," she replied easily, the casual tone of her voice at odds with the dark glimmer of some unspoken emotion in her eyes. Without words, both goddess and djinn seemed to convey some secret communication between them. But the moment was gone as soon as it appeared and Urd turned away at the same moment Genie turned to join Belldandy in the kitchen.

As the Club of Truth thrummed with magical might in her hands, Urd left the apartment and headed out into the darkness in search of a hero.
