Time: Week 8, Morning

"Good morning and welcome to the first annual Genie Golf Classic. It’s a beautiful day just outside the city of Paixao here on the mysterious but equally as gorgeous island. Unfortunately due to legal purposes it is to remain unnamed for the time being so for those of you watching our live feed at home put the maps away and find yourself another vacation spot. I suggest Abu Dhabi, someone needs to bring Nermal back home.

The sun is out and it’s hitting you at total of seventy five degrease Fahrenheit. Wind’s coming at you at three miles an hour, just south east with a relative humidity of thirty percent. Whoo! Hope you brought your sunscreen kids, it’s gunna be a hot one. For those of you who forgot to bring a beverage we do have a stand set up at the checkpoint with both free food and drink. That’s gunna be the sixth hole, just outside the Niflheim gate. Get ‘em while they last. Back inside the domes it looks as though we might be seeing some thundershowers this afternoon with a high chance of belligerent Org. members. Do be careful out there and don’t hesitate to call if you run into any trouble.

Things are about to get underway. We ask that all golfers that haven’t already please report to the first hole for full registration to receive maps, clubs, and more. The game will be underway in a few moments from now. So far we can look forward to seeing such notable personalities out on the green today as President Naja Salaheem of the Salaheem Sentinels and Urd, Goddess of Love. We also have the Doctor accompanied by his lovely lady friends, Jecht, Ivan, and more! Who will you meet on the green today?

Here’s a reminder for all you out there that the winner of today’s game will be awarded our super awesome ultra fantastic secret grand prize. What is it? Win and find out!

Before we begin a quick reminder of the rules is in order. We have a lot of new players with us today so we want to do our best to help play the game as well as enjoy themselves. It also never hurts to refresh yourself. A complete but brief explanation of the rules of the game can be found at the first hole along with all the necessary course maps. To be very, very brief, your objective for today is to get your ball into all the holes on the course using your clubs in as few swings as possible. Count your clubs before you begin; you are only allowed a total of fourteen. Also, remember to play the ball as it lies. This is very important. Respect your opponents and practise good etiquette. Most importantly HAVE FUN!

As a closing note, I feel I need not remind anyone that there is no tolerance for endangering another player’s wellbeing. Anyone who does so will face very strict and harsh penalties by me. If you run into any trouble on the course today don’t hesitate to summon me by either the alarm found on your cart or golf bag. I have several scouts spread out across the course and will also be patrolling the area to ensure safety to all our players.

Following this interesting turn of events a bright blue coloured ball flew down from above the goddess, whom at the time still stood with her arm raised above her head. It bounced on the green, drawing near the hole before slowly circling it multiple times. Its speed increased drastically as it drew closer and closer to the hole then finally decided to fall in. The player to make the shot could not be seen but could certainly be heard after their success in sinking the ball. They cried out for joy, cheering proudly from a distance.

Suddenly a familiar genie appeared at Urd’s side, clothed in a checkered sweater vest, hat and pleated golf shorts. “Whoa, what happened to the flag pole?” he asked, pointing to it in disbelief.

Even once Genie appeared, Urd was frozen in the same position. She quickly brought her arm down, tossing her hair off her shoulder. Her carefully composed manner was shattered by an embarassed flush. "I...may have become a little...frustrated," she grudgingly admitted, avoiding his eyes.

Suddenly she turned away and crouched down at the hole, retrieving their golf balls. "Anyway," Urd said brusquely, tossing the blue ball back to Genie, "that was a pretty good shot." It was hard to tell if she was impressed or annoyed by this.

“A little?” the genie repeated in disbelief as he poked at the pole. “Somehow I get the impression it was otherwise.” Well, at least no real damage had been done. The flagpole was easy enough to replace. He scratched his head and observed it further. How she had managed this was beyond him. It looked as though the pole had been struck by lightning or something.

Noting Urd’s sudden movement closer to the hole his eyes followed her before he found his ball flying at him. He tried to catch it but clumsily struggled not to drop it. In the process he managed to knock his bag over and spill his clubs across the green, lose his hat and in the end drop the ball as well. He smiled sheepishly at the goddess. “Uhh, thank you.” The djinn replied, oddly posed in a position he had frozen into when he had dropped his ball. He straightened himself and chuckled. “You should have seen me at the first hole.”

Urd chuckled, relaxing visibly at Genie's clumsy display. "Oh? I had a pretty good shot at the first hole too." She leaned down to retrieve his hat and the bright blue ball. "It's this curve that got me," she sighed, pouting. Lifting the hat, she tugged it down on the djinn's head as she spoke. "When I was practicing, I never prepared for this little bit of trickery."

She paused, looking down at the golf ball in her hand. Glancing at Genie coquettishly, she lifted the ball to her lips and kissed it. It came away from her lips with a lipstick mark so perfect it seemed to be drawn on. Even as her thumb brushed the mark, it stayed intact...and the ball itself seemed to momentarily shine with unnatural light. "There," she said grinning wickedly, taking Genie's hand in her own and dropping the ball in the palm of his hand. "For luck."

A good shot? No, that wasn’t it. Genie had actually racked up all his points at the first hole. It wasn’t nearly as troublesome as this one yet he couldn’t possibly manage to get the ball into the hole, spending at least ten shots putting around the green while another fifteen off course in the field of tall grass. If Urd thought he’d been doing well however he would not prove her wrong. At least, not yet. He smiled and nodded until he found his hat over his face.

The djinn removed his hat and placed his back on his head, positioning it blindly to his liking while he watched the goddess examine his ball. He was surprised by her actions, even more so by the balls to her kiss before immediately growing suspicious. Genie knew Urd wanted to win as greatly as he did. To help each other out simply unheard of on the battlefield. The wicked grin that spread across her lips when she handed him the ball only seemed to seal the deal. He narrowed his eyes suspiciously, raising the ball into the light to inspect it.

“Thanks!” Genie replied with a smile, tossing the ball in his hand. “I wish I had something for you too.” Too bad he had returned the Klopman diamond to the set of a popular Saturday morning cartoon show. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, looking around him for anything that might spark an idea.

"Oh, don't worry about it. I make my own luck," Urd said lightly, tossing back her hair haughtily. In the wake of her rather unskilled attempts at this very hole, it was a bit of a ridiculous claim, but she was in full gloating mode now. Gathering her own club and ball, she started floating lazily towards her cart as she spoke. "C'mon, blue boy. Why don't you show me your skills at the next hole?" She glanced at him, purple eyes glittering with challenge. "Unless you think you can't perform."

“Don’t be ridiculous, I’ll be there!” he confirmed, quickly attempting to gather his clubs together and place them back in his bag. Oh, he was always up for a little challenge. After all, this is what they’d been waiting for. The chance to test their skill again once another and find out who truly reigned supreme. He wouldn’t dream of backing down. A wild grin spread across his features. “I don’t see why you’re in such a hurry to lose though because you are going DOWN GIRL!”

Urd laughed, tossing her things in the back of the cart. She turned around abruptly, hands on her hips. "You're pretty confident. That eager for some home cooking? Or maybe you don't want to embarrass yourself when I see your own cooking skills?" She poked him lightly in the chest, grinning up at him with undeniable cockiness. "It's time I showed you just how skilled I am. Feel free to run away if you feel it's hopeless!"

She turned back around, her long hair fluttering in his face as she strutted to the cart, hopped in and sped away to the next hole, melodious laughter ringing across the green.

And she said he was full of himself. She was one to talk! He folded his arms across as she continued provoke him. Genie was more than confident in his cooking abilities and knew full well he could prepare a full gourmet meal with only cutting one of his limbs off in the process. Victory would taste sweet when Urd, a completely unskilled cook to his belief, served him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in shame. Especially after the way she had acted.

Convinced he still had this little competition in the bag Genie grabbed his golf bag and raced after the goddess. He would show the goddess she was definitely messing with the wrong Genie.
