Dragoon and Gunner [active]

Character(s): Cid, Vincent, and Lara
Content: Friends getting together for a little talk
Setting: Cid's shop
Time: Shortly after this thread
Warnings: Cid.

If you asked Cid, it was about damned time that someone else showed up. Or well. Someone who wasn't ShinRa, or that weirdly young Cloud Zack had hauled into that one meeting. Even if it was the damned spook of the bunch.

Still, better a spook than no one, and he had been missing the rest of them lately. Hell, maybe it would even help make up for the lack of a sky, or any of his ships. But before that, there were a few things to grill Vince on. This 'Omega' thing for one. And possibly also this army thing.

But first he had to wait for him to show up...

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-06-10 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Trains had always been uncomfortable to ride in, but he managed somehow, making his way to the desired location fairly quickly and into the part of town where Cid had been waiting. There were things had needed to be discussed, explained to him, and he'd allowed someone to accompany him to his friend's place. This woman claimed to have known just about everything there was to know about this city, and he knew straight from the get-go that Cid wouldn't be much help in that department. A couple swears, unprovoked anger, and something about tea.

Sometimes, he had the strangest friends.

The front door opened slightly, the Ex-Turk's crimson gaze trailing around the room for any sign of the mechanic. If he knew Cid as well as he did, he wouldn't have gotten too far. The man was impatient, sure, but he doubted he'd leave when he knew of his arrival. Making sure to hold the door open for Lara, he called out.

"Cid?"

Lara had arrived at Cid's shop before Vincent, her guns strapped to her thighs, ready for adventure as always. She'd never been to this shop, nor met its owner - although she'd meant to drop by in the past. She simply hadn't had the time, in between researching the city and paying close attention to events that unfolded over the journals.

When the red-eyed man opened the door for her, she smiled in thanks and stepped inside. "Vincent Valentine, I presume," she said as she walked inside, then turned back to look at him, waiting for Cid to respond.

*f-fails so sorry for the holdup*

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Vincent nodded solemnly, not opting to speak more than he needed to. There was the off-chance he would wind up revealing too much to a semi-complete stranger, and he wasn't about to take that kind of risk. Call it paranoia, or simply using his head, Vincent Valentine wasn't a trusting idiot. But he still remained polite, expression devoid of any suspicion or uneasiness as crimson eyes trailed up at the sound of someone approaching.

Cid, who didn't remember the whole Deepground situation, or Omega, or... anything, really. Perhaps upon the Weapon's defeat, the memories of those who'd encountered it were erased, to prevent it from happening again. And he'd only been preserved because of Chaos. But still... it didn't seem quite right. Something was very off about this entire thing...

"...good to see you, old friend." He added quietly, before nodding to the woman at his side. "Lara. Though I'm not sure if you've met. You both know more about this place than I do."

It's okay! <3 No worries~

[identity profile] livingalegend.livejournal.com 2009-06-16 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Lara understood Vincent perfectly. While she was friendly to people, it didn't mean she'd just tell them her whole life story. After all, it had taken Zip and Alister quite some time (a few years), and even then, they'd only learned because of the camera set and Lara's own confessions of her past. She smiled at Cid and Vincent, nodding politely at the apparent owner of the shop.

"It's a pleasure to meet you," she greeted, but said no more for the moment; she'd allow the two men to get to the basics before that. She was here for input, true, but she wasn't about to go butting into anyone else's business where she wasn't needed. She'd read up on both of them over the journals, of course; and it seemed they were quite capable, which was good in a place like this (or, indeed, any place). And maybe Cid knew as much of the Organization and the goings-n in the city as she did - or more. One never knew.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Not ShinRa? Truth be told, once you had been a part of ShinRa for so long, you never truly left it. It remained a part of your life for years and years to come, haunted you with nightmares and hallucinations and gods knew what else after having to make so many suffer under your own hand. It was... almost depressing to think about, but it had been a good thing he couldn't exactly get 'depressed'. Made things far more easier.

But the other organization...

"Speaking of which..." He began carefully, not exactly wanting to pry. "What organizations are you familiar with so far? From back home?"

He'd already clarified that over the network, but he just had to make sure.

[identity profile] livingalegend.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. ShinRa sounded like a company. If it was relevant to what was going on within the city, Lara would have to look into it - but she wasn't about to go poking her nose into other peoples' business for no good reason. That sort of thing tended to get one into serious trouble, if not outright killed - and frankly, Lara was not in the mood to deal with assassination attempts at the moment. From what she'd read over the journals, however, ShinRa hadn't been mentioned in the city's troubles, but she'd keep an eye out nonetheless. It never hurt to be cautious.

For now, Lara would listen, and fill in any holes she heard in Cid's story with what she knew. There was no need for two people to be chattering about the same thing all at once, after all.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-06-24 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
WRO? While there had been some mentions of the organization in the past, did Cid remember being a part of it after all? His best guess was 'no', and prying into the matter would only make things more and more complicated. AVALANCHE was AVALANCHE no matter what the situation, and even seperated, him and Cid were better than nobody. "And only members of ShinRa and us two are here?"

Great. This was looking rather hopeless, wasn't it?

Sighing, the red-cloaked man leaned against a nearby wall. Might as well get comfortable if this conversation was going to take awhile. "Have there been any attempts to willingly leave the city? Any movements formed here?"

[identity profile] livingalegend.livejournal.com 2009-06-25 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
So there were groups of people from the same world stuck here. That was interesting. Lara thought she'd heard something about that before, over the journals. The question was, how did they get here? There were many other questions as well, of course, but Lara was concerning herself with the "whys" and "hows" of this place before concerning herself with the rest. Of course, if more answers presented themselves, she certainly wouldn't complain.

She did, of course, know the answers to Vincent's question, but once again remained silent, seeing how much Cid knew before she stepped in. And who knew? She might not be needed at all.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
The... Resistance? That was a new one, alright. Sounded a lot like what AVALANCHE had been those years ago, but he knew right off the bat the two weren't the same. There was some other kind of Resistance here. Perhaps some higher power calling the shots in hiding, and bringing them here for purposes unknown.

This... Organization. Huh.

Even if he didn't like the answer, he would find out anyway. Not all truth was sunshine and rainbow Chocobos, especially if it involved some shady group called the 'Organization'.

"No. Who are they?" Straight to the point. He was going to find out everything here, whether people wanted to tell him or not. And if Cid didn't have the whole story, well. That was also why Lara was here as well. "What happened to you both since you've been here?" He tacked on, hoping it would help.

[identity profile] livingalegend.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Lara thought she'd heard something here and there about the Resistance and thought they might be worth looking into. From what she'd heard, they were indeed working against the organization - but she wasn't in the mood to ask around, as that might be mistaken for interest. Lara preferred to work independently, if not alone, whenever possible (and although she'd teamed up twice here, now, she would still work by herself if she could).

"I'm afraid I don't know much about the Resistance," Lara replied, "but I've been to St. Destino a few times and helped in the discovery of Destiny Islands. I also had the... shall we say, distinct pleasure of attending Hades' party." She chuckled a little, remembering the Heartless. "Needless to say, there's been quite a lot going on in this city."

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-06-27 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Hades. That name had appeared once or twice over the network, but it wasn't a Summon. As strange as it was, it couldn't have been stranger than being dumped in a foreign world and apparently having been there before with no memory of it. Turning his attention to Lara, the Ex-Turk sighed a little. Looked like his work was never done. "Who exactly is this 'Hades'?"

Someone they knew? It could have been a number of people, if it was mostly those they didn't like. Rufus Shinra, perhaps. If he was the one Cid was referring to by having ShinRa-types here. Or it could have been someone else. As much as he dreaded finding out, he turned his attention back to the pilot. "Should I be afraid to ask who it is?"

Then there was the Organization; from the decription, it seemed a fitting name for people like that. Ruthless, relentless, with a vague and 'mysterious' title. Nothing he hadn't handled before. "How many reported kidnappings have there been so far? Any successful attempts at knocking a dent into the group?"

[identity profile] livingalegend.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hades," Lara explained, "is the Lord of the Underworld and the God of the Dead. He's not a particularly pleasant being, either; he's been causing trouble ever since he got here, along with his cohorts. They're named Maleficent and Jafar, but right now, Hades is the only one who's overtly causing trouble." Of course, Lara didn't fool herself for a moment considering the matters of those three (especially as she hadn't the foggiest as to what they were up to), but for now, Hades was the only one who was threatening people openly.

Lara was silent once more as Vincent's attention was drawn back to Cid. She wanted to hear more about the Organization, too, especially after what Larxene had done to her and Sonic. One could never be too careful, after all.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-02 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Who these people actually were, or what group they were involved in was some he did not have experience with in the least perviously. The names were all completely new, though he still found it strange for one to be called... Maleficent? Huh. Almost like they were trying to be threatening. But Hades was a familiar face. Or... at least to him. The Hades he knew always had and always would be just a Summon in battle. Nothing more.

Seemed this world had more ways of twisting things than one.

"Then I don't think he's the one you should be keeping an eye on." The ex-Turk adviced carefully. "How do you know he's not just a distraction? Have there been any movements to hunt down the other two?" A surprise attack was worse than a frontal attack, after all. More people wind up dead.

'Nuts shortly followed by dead'. Oh, wonderful, if it was the person he was thinking about. A resistance movement formed in the city, and he's leading it. Things just seemed to be getting worse and worse in this place, hadn't they? "...Sephiroth's here?"

And the group was hiding out in broad daylight. That raised the red-cloaked man's suspicions some, as crimson eyes trailed back to Lara not too far off. If it could have been anyone, and she had seemed so eager to join them in this meeting...

Maybe it was best they didn't say more.

[identity profile] livingalegend.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Lara raised an eyebrow at the mention of kidnappings. "I've only heard of a few since I came here," she said, shaking her head in slight disbelief. "Does anyone know why they're doing this?" What could they have to gain? Something, that was for sure, but what in the world could it be? The woman's brow furrowed, a concerned frown on her face as she mentally went over what she had done and learned within the city since her arrival. Unfortunately, nothing really came to mind, although she would definitely keep an eye out regarding the Organization - not that she hadn't been already.

She listened patiently, taking in the information... and then Vincent gave her that look. Lara was rather used to that by now; that "I'm watching you" glance that said everything. Lara sighed at him. "You don't honestly believe that I'm one of them, do you?" she asked im, amused and mildly offended at the idea. "If I were after someone, that someone would most likely know it." Lara being after something was another matter, but they didn't need to know that.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-04 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It was easy to be suspicious, when the situation called for it. And being suddenly dragged into a domed city with no way in or out definately qualified as 'suspicious' in his mind. He would not be accusing people right off the bat and hunting them down, but if they seemed a bit... off, he would keep an eye on him. Maybe Lara could be trusted. Maybe not. It wasn't like he could see into her head and tell, after all. "It's best to keep an eye out." He explained simply. "I've just met you, after all."

It wasn't like they could believe anything Sephiroth would tell them - there had been that bullcrap about Cloud being nothing but his clone, after all. - but who was to say here, if people were from different times? He'd heard the reports, that Sephiroth actually had a calm, coherent mind at one point, so maybe he was ripped from that time. If so... this could work to their advantage. Though he knew the guilt of having the-son-that-could-have-been would be a problem for him. "If people are from different times here... who knows? Sephiroth on our side would be... interesting, at least."

Thirteen. Huh. Maybe there was some kind of clue in their appearance of behaviour that led them on. "Have there been any... slip-ups yet? Any clues to try to weed them out?"

[identity profile] livingalegend.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Lara nodded in understanding. With the way things were going in the city, it would make sense that everyone would be at least a little suspicious. She wondered who this Sephiroth was and what he wanted. Was he just pulled here like everyone else? Whatever the situation, she'd best keep an eye out, as usual. She was getting rather bored here, anyway.

As for the Organization, well, Lara had her own ideas about them - but it was better to remain silent on the matter until they revealed anything for certain. There had just been the kidnappings as well as Larxene's own pointless attack on Lara... but there had to be something else beyond it all. Of course there was.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-09 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Trust was something that would need to be earned, in Vincent's opinion. And, quite frankly, it was a long and trying process with him. Acting was easy and deception was far more common than it needed to be in any world. Sephiroth would need to work his ass off if he had any possible hope of convincing the ex-Turk, as terrible as it sounded. Oh well. Better safe than sorry. "We'll watch him. And stop him again if he decides to pull anything on us again. That's all."

He nodded once, taking in the information and dreading the fact that this was going to be far more difficult than it needed to be. But he would manage. There was always a clue to anyone trying to blend into society that gave their position away. Even if it was the smallest puff of breath, there was always something. "We need to drive them out of hiding somehow. What can you tell me about any of their behaviours?"

[identity profile] livingalegend.livejournal.com 2009-07-13 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. It seemed that Lara had learned all she could at the moment. "Well, gentlemen," she stated, "if there's anything else you need to learn from me, you can always contact me over the journals. I'm afraid I must be going." She turned to leave, her mind full of what she had learned - and still being mildly amused at Vincent's suspicious, she smiled back at them. "It was lovely to meet you."

With that, she left, her brows drawn together in thought. If this kept up, Lara might not be able to remain as neutral as she wished.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Being a new arrival himself, it was difficult to differenciate who had been here the longest and who had just arrived. And as Cid mentioned, the journals were not something to be trusted. They could be hacked, broken into, and manipulated to serve more untoward deeds; he wasn't taking any chances. If someone wanted to speak, he'd drag them for a face-to-face meeting, no questions asked. "Who's been around here the longest? ...that you can trust, of course."

He trusted Cid. They were good friends, and that would never change.

Blinking a bit, the ex-Turk turned to find Lara opting to leave. While it was a bit surprising, it was also... something wasn't right here. She left as soon as they started talking. She claimed to have not been with the Organization, but it seemed like she had gotten the information she needed. Shit. He should have known better.

He turned back to Cid. "...more privacy here is good. Let's work on that."

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-16 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe he was simply jumping to conclusions. Maybe he was right. They had no way of knowing until someone or something slipped up, so he'd simply bypass the matter for now. That was all.

On to business.

"...Timon?" That had been a new name, anyway. Better this man than a murderer they all knew, and it would be easier to speak with this man rather than one able to drive a ten foot sword through your head. "Who is that?"

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-19 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Vincent offered Cid a bit of a sideglance at that remark, laughing if he had been able. Someone who thought they were the boss... hearing it come from this certain mechanic was a bit ironic, and slightly amusing, though he kept his mouth shut and simply nodded at the statement. Then again, the man had been hesitant the first time he'd been appointed 'leader', so... maybe not so much ironic.

"You can find anyone on the journals." He shrugged, sighing a little. "Is there anything specfic to note about this guy so I can keep an eye out? Aside from being a loudmouth."

Gods knew there were probably more where he came from, anyway.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-20 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
So were Nanaki and Cait Sith, but that had been beside the point. If this... Timon, whoever he was, had any information about the city, more than Cid could give, then he would make it a personal goal to try and track him down. He had to know, had to be informed of anything happening behind the scenes in this place, and the ex-Turk wouldn't have even cared if it wound up being a two-headed, six-foot mog on a unicycle.

"He could be found on the journals, right?" He asked, after a few moments. "I should start looking sometime soon. Arrange a meeting if we can. We can't just sit here and twiddle our thumbs."

He was never truly finished with things, even after death, was he?

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Then it was agreed. Find this Timon, call for a private discussion. It was the best he could do in a place like this, other than sitting and waiting for something to happen anyway. If there was going to be a storm, he didn't want to be caught in the middle of it unprepared. It was that simple.

...shadow-spooks? 'Last time'? Just what exactly had Cid been up to lately? "You've been having fun without me?" He added flatly, meaning to be in a joking manner. "What happened, Cid?" He realized he should have left to find a computer by now... but there was quite possibly a part of him that hadn't truly died. A part that was... concerned.

Cid was a friend. He wouldn't stand by and let anything happen if he could help it.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least he hadn't been alone in the arriving-with-an-apparent-double department. Seemed like a common theme for people to deal with here, and the thought of a second Cid was enough to keep him occupied for the rest of the day. Gods knew their pockets would be scraped clean of gil with double the amount of cigarettes.

But then that faint joy deflated at the mention of that name. "What'd he do?" Slipped accusingly out of his mouth, like an annoyed parent with disobedient children.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Since when had anything with Rufus ShinRa ever been fun? Sucking the life out of the planet, failing at stopping Meteor, laying waste to more defenseless towns and ultimately the holding of Jenova while the Remnants ran amok. If there had been some kind of meeting, and he was there, this particular ex-Turk was content on not being there and never wanting to be there. "What happened, if you don't mind my asking?"

Chaos, panic, trouble, pain, annoyance... some of the many words flowing through his head at that moment. But what else could he say?

...oh my god that icon dude. <3

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-23 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Sephiroth, a SOLDIER, Rufus ShinRa, and a Turk. And Cid. Yeah, that sounded like a joyous time right there. Maybe there was even tea and fancy music.

...he really hoped it was just left at sarcasm.

But there was the mention of that Resistance thing again. Ignoring the fact that it was apparently being led by Sephiroth, it sounded like a good idea to pitch in and try to find some way to break out of their prison. If the attempts failed, they could at least say they tried. "By the way... how does one go about joining this Resistance?" He asked, though the next part was more muttered than anything, "...without having to ask Sephiroth."

He just arrived. He didn't want to have to deal with that again so soon.

[identity profile] hellgun.livejournal.com 2009-07-25 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
He was making a list in his head for when they were done here. Get on the journals. Find this 'Timon'. Ask more about this... Resistance. Find out how to become a part of it while simultaeously avoiding Sephiroth. Didn't sound too hard; maybe they could even avoid violence.

There wasn't really much more they could go over, so he offered a silent nod of confirmation, beginning to head for the door. "I should get started, then."

But then he stopped, back still turned towards the other man. "Cid. Thanks."
