A Return to Justice [active; open]
Character(s): Gabranth
Content: Gabranth clomping around in full Magisterial armorand ignoring the giant monster.
Setting: J7
Time: midday
Warnings: none, yet
It hadn't been any sense of danger or wish to announce his allegiances that had driven Gabranth back to the outfit he'd worn when first he'd arrived to this strange place. Rather it was the fact that acting as the kingslayer who dared yet call him brother chafed after so long a time. And until a better plan was found, he would act as his kin no more.
True, the law he served was not the law here; or not as he'd seen but that mattered not. Law was law the world (worlds?) over. The blade of the law therefore could find place wheree'er he went. And if what he'd seen was true, this city could profit from a little law.
Therefore, his hand would mete out what the law deserved, as best he could without direct orders. Small things, but perhaps enough - and more than enough for him.

Besides, wouldn't it chafe? Like... a lot?
Zack would very much like to have little Zack juniors to drive Spike and Aerith nuts in the future, thank you very much. Then again, no one really figured out what mako did to the system.
"Unless you're trying to attract a certain kind of character?"
no subject
Not that he entirely expected the man knew what the armor and helm signified, much less the insignia on the cape at his back, but that was of less importance at the moment. What mattered was that the other spoke of things he did not know of. And that was something that Gabranth would not allow to stand.
"It is not for misplaced desire that I wear this," he snapped, voice echoing and booming out of his helm. "All Judges Magister wear such."
As was only appropriate.
no subject
"Sorry, man, I didn't know. Did no one else want the job?" That's such a pity. The armor didn't look comfortable, and with the two horns proclaiming 'COMPENSATION' louder than bolded billboard letters with accompanying red arrows, Zack wouldn't be surprised if this new person had problems picking up women.
Then again, Aerith had found the strangest things cute.
no subject
As for women, there was no room for them in his life. Why should he bother carrying on a bloodline he no longer chose to associate himself with.
"You know not of what you speak. The Judges Magister are the Law of Archades."
Normally he wouldn't have bothered to mention the duties of a Judge Magister, but without he doubted the man would have had understood had he not.

Honestly, it reminded Zack a bit too much of what SOLDIER had been like, or at least, ShinRa by extension through SOLDIER. Being the 'law' of something had it's drawbacks, though Zack's beginning to get the picture that wearing five hundred pounds of pure armor with a fetish for swirls wasn't one of them, according to this fellow.
"So I guess you're judge and jury in your world, huh? Don't tell me you're also the executioner." Zack kept his tone light, bouncing in place once before starting to circle the other man. He'd stood still long enough. It also didn't hurt to get a concept of the armor's potential weak points.
no subject
Which was, of course, a lie - the judges had always been far closer to executioner than judge or jury. But there was no reason to mention that. He'd let someone else bring that up - most like those damnable pirates.
As for the armor itself, while it is designed to to be perfectly functional it does not cover the entirety of Gabranth's body. Most notably, it leaves the inner portion of his thighs open as well as part of his arms - although the thoroughly impressive elbow guards make up for some of that.
no subject
"So one guy gets to let loose the ax, huh? Sounds like a dictatorship to me." Not that Zack wouldn't know, having worked for one such organization himself. "But eh. How's that working for ya?"
no subject
"It is not my place to argue with the Emperor."
Or at least not the current Emperor. Not with his position and perhaps his very life at risk.
no subject
And Zack was far from what they'd considered obedient. Or at least, that's what Angeal liked to say.
"So where's your ruler now?" Zack finished his lazy circle trip around the other man, folding his arms and jutting out a hip as he stopped in front of him. It looked like he was settling in for a good conversation.
no subject
"He rests yet in Archadia." Or so he could only assume.
no subject
"I guess it depends on your definition of loyalty, and of who deserves it." Zack tilted his head. "So is that where you're from? Archadia? Never heard of it."
no subject
"Archadia is but a part of Ivalice."
He wasn't going to get into the serpent's nest that was Landis just now. Landis was dead, let her lie. Archadia was his home now, regardless of any bitterness that actually speaking those words might leave in his mouth.
no subject
"Either way, looks like you're far from home." Like Zack. "Say, you wouldn't happen to know anything about this place, would you? Good bars? Good eats? Maybe even a few...weaponry smiths?" Zack asked the last, grin wrinkling the corner of his eyes as he pointedly looked at the man's armor.
no subject
"Can you not find them on your own?" he asked, shifting his stance slightly in his annoyance.
This was the first time he'd worn his armor since his arrival, and he was only passingly concerned with 'good' places to eat or drink. He had no one to do either with so why bother?
no subject
It took skills.
And possibly Zack high on sugar.
"Yee~aah, but where's the fun in that?" Zack asked good-naturedly. "I'd have to suffer through bad food, horrible service, and possibly chicks thinking I'm trying to pick them up. Which I'm not, by the way," Zack added, in case this stranger had any doubts. "And besides, a good smithy is always found by word of mouth. Would you let just anyone touch your hard self?"
no subject
Nor was he interested whether or not the man was interested in picking up women. It was, after all, precisely none of his business.
"It is hardly in need of repair."
And on Ivalice at least, most would think twice about attacking a Judge Magister unprovoked.
no subject
"Doesn't mean you don't keep it regulated with proper up keeping," Zack stated, though his tone took a more questioning sound near the end of that. The stranger did try to maintain his armor. Right? Any fighter worth their salt would be doing so.
no subject
"I do that which is necessary."
Not that there's been much need so far.
no subject
"You need to get out more, you know that? But hey! We can work on that."
no subject
"I do not require your aid. Nor do I desire the same."
no subject
Zack speaks from experience!
no subject
And as the living embodiment of the law there were very few he saw as worthy enough to see through to the man underneath. One of them he'd killed at the request of another, and yet another was dead of (presumed) natural causes.
Not exactly a favorable outlook, even should he bother to care.
no subject
Admittedly, that last was thrown in just for quirks, but Zack didn't imagine that the two had no connections.
no subject
Certainly there were those among the Magisters who simply were every bit as cruel and merciless as the law they served. For his part, he simply hardened his heart as best he could and bent his head to the yoke of that which he must serve.
It was all he really could do, after all.
no subject
Normally, Zack would offer his services here for the common greater good (though many back home would argue there was nothing good about becoming Zack's project), but the man (was it a man? Could be a woman with a really deep voice- Zack wasn't about to ask) probably wouldn't appreciate it.
no subject
But he had no good answer to Zack's comment and so for the time being, he'd simply fall silent.
no subject
...Speaking of which.
"Hey, pal. Aren't you a little hot with that thing on? I mean. We're indoors, if you know what I mean. There's no elements you've got to protect yourself against." The request for the armored man to remove his helmet was as subtle as a Zolom doing the chorus line in the middle of Loveless Square.
no subject
"It is not solely for protection that I wear what I do."
It was, perhaps, a bit warm in his armor, but he'd been to warmer places than this in exactly the same thing. Nor was his wearing it indoors uncommon. The garb of a Judge was his or her armor regardless of whether it was inside or out.
