Disposable Fun [Complete]

Character(s): Morrigan & a Lumen
Content: She talks a stroll through the Paixao streets, becomes aware that she's being followed and...
Setting: Joutenheim area, K8
Time: Late Night
Warnings: Lumen biting, scratching, possible blood?

How many men had fallen to her charms now? How many more would succumb to her wiles? As long as she remained there, both of those numbers would only continue to grow. And that was fine with her. It was how she sustained herself, after all.

It was how she survived.

But ensuring her survival was not enough. She wanted more.

Excitement. That's what was missing.

Things were far too cyclical in this city for her liking. Rest during the day, venture out at night and meet new faces. Throw in the occasional devouring of a man’s soul and that was pretty much what Morrigan had done since being taken here. Maybe it was her own fault. A fun new location to frolic in and an abundance of food... It was enough to keep her satisfied.

At first.

By now, the novelty had worn off. She had decided to take things into her own hands. If nothing interesting was to happen on its own, then perhaps she could lend a “helping hand”. There was nothing wrong with that, right?

After dressing herself and leaving the house of her latest "victim", she pondered on what would be a good way to begin this new task.

Although she hadn’t encountered many of them, Morrigan knew that beings from different worlds and dimensions had also been brought here. Getting to know those who were in the same position as her… Hmm, why not? It would give her the opportunity to obtain information on the others while revealing nothing truthful about herself.

Deception had always been one of her favorite games, after all.

With these thoughts in mind, she continued to walk through the streets, but stopped shortly after realizing something.

“It’s been a while since I’ve played a game of cat and mice.” She turned around, a smile on her face. “Won’t you come out already? I know you’re there.”

It had been following her for quite some time now. Ever since the woman leaving a distinctly dark trail behind her left that particular house, it had trailed her. It had been waiting quietly for the right opportunity. It knew how to stalk well enough. And now the stalking was over with.

A lumen came out from a bunch of jeweled bushes. It was catlike in form, but a little bigger than a typical household cat. It slunk closer to the dark one, and sat down on its haunches at a good distance. It even made a sound like a cat, a sort of twangy meow. It twitched its glowing ears and tilted its head, looking demure and innocent. If the lady would pet it, that would be wonderful. If not, it had powerful back legs for a reason.

Its glowing tail twitched impatiently. What would the woman do?

The Lumen-cat ate up the attention. Or at least pretended to. It turned its head, leaning into her pettings, stretching its body as the woman’s hand passed over its body. But as the dark woman continued, the Lumen couldn’t help but get rankled. It couldn’t hide its natural reaction of distaste. It felt threatened by all the darkness around this woman, and it reacted slowly. First its back got stiff and formed itself into an arch. Then its white fur started standing on edge. Still it did not hiss.

Finally the little creature could take it no longer. It was being suffocated by the darkness. It had to do something! So it turned its head during one of the woman’s strokes and opened its mouth wide, prepared to sink its teeth into her petting arm.

It had been working! The lumen was accomplishing its goal. The darkness was receding already. With its teeth in her flesh, the lumen had begun transferring the light to one who desperately needed it.

But that hardly mattered now. It had gotten a few good seconds in, anyway. And now the fist. The fist was hard and angry and it smashed into the lumen’s face with intensity. The lumen was only a cat, of course, and the punch was enough to send it flying. It landed a few feet from the dark woman, stunned and laying on its side. It would take a few moments for it to regain its bearings again, and to ignore the staggering pain in its nose and the few broken teeth. It might have left some behind in the woman’s arm.

[OOC: Then one more bite it is!]

The world ceased to be a pattern of shimmering stars for the lumen as everything went back into focus. Pain still flowed like a river from the creature’s nose, but it was able to ignore it for the time being. It carefully got back to its feet and looked at its target. She seemed to be succumbing to the bite’s effects already. One more bite would get that pesky darkness to recede further. She would need that bite. It was for her own good!

The cat coiled and pounced, aiming for the woman’s leg. It clung on with claws and sunk its battered teeth into her thigh. The light flowed into the woman once again.

The lumen tried desperately to pump as much light as it could into the woman. Unfortunately, it didn’t have that much time to do so. It was so focused on sharing the light that it did not see, nor could it avoid, the piercing black tendrils that came for it. The sharp tips of them ripped through the lumen’s being, effectively ending the bite, along with the lumen’s life. Impaled, it hung lifelessly from the tendrils, its blood seeping down along their length. After a few moments, the lumen disintegrated, fading away into a few sparkles of light that faded quickly.
