What in Trader Koma's name is THAT? [Closed]
Character(s): Daja Kisubo, Tris Chandler, Briar Moss, Zaraki Kenpachi
Content: On the way toMoron of Lesbians Morem o Lisboa! Tris, Daja, Chime, and Briar find a place to sleep for the night. ...And run into Kenpachi along the way.
Setting: [M4] - Outside, on the way to Morem o Lisboa
Time: EARLY Sunday2
Warnings:Liz can't keep Tris and Daja from bleeding into one another's posts, and Chime is a naked... thing. None, really. Yet.
It was generally considered a good thing that Tris could divert rain. Daja wouldn't've minded rain all that much on her ninteenth birthday, but Tris always made the weather easier to deal with. The redheaded weather-witch yawned, following sleepily after Daja. The first item on their little group's agenda was an actual place to sleep. They'd walked from the train station, a quiet and sleepy party. It was Tris who had showed Daja that there were lodgings near the train station.
So they walked. Chime made occasional screeching complaints, pointing at her feet with the 'hand' that wasn't carrying her tail. Tris seemed to be trying to face away from the wind, and Daja was singing in her native tongue. It was something she'd learned in her childhood. The smith-mage twirled her staff as she walked, keeping an eye on the citizens and things.
She paused, looking around and tilting her head. At the same time that Chime let out a trill that both Daja and Tris knew was her 'curious' noise, Daja commented aloud. "What in Trader Koma's name is that?" Tris blinked, grey eyes going wider.
"...I can't see it. It's just blurry."
Daja was inches from snorting at her sister's tone.

He hadn't killed anyone (yet), but he'd gone above and beyond the call to terrify some of the residents. No doubt there'd be rumors circulating about some giant white and black beast who was prowling the area. Not like he cared, really. But whatever fantasies they dreamed up would be hilarious to hear.
Kenpachi smirked briefly, turning from a side street onto the main drag of sorts, his hair un-belled and un-spiked, hanging in his face like a great black curtain. (He was suffering from a headache powerful enough to kill a Menos at the moment, and the tightly-pulled spikes did little to help it.) Unfortunately the wide berth he was given thanks to his size and appearance was currently being blocked by three strangers and a peculiar-looking critter. He wasn't quite on top of them yet, but in about 20 steps he would be.
Not like that mattered, Kenpachi just kept on plowing towards them, one hand resting quietly on the hilt of his zanpakutou, the other swaying idly at his side.

Daja twirled her staff casually. So this kaq has a blade? You forget who you're standing next to, Tris. Tris rolled her eyes at Daja's statement, smiling a little. Well, there was always diplomac---
Both girls reached out after Chime at the same moment, but the glass dragon was intent on the large man before them. "CHIME!" Tris snapped, yanking a hanging lightning braid loose. In a practiced motion she had started using in Thairos, the weather-witch made a cage out of lightning and started reeling the creature back toward them, Chime held by the lightning in her 'veins'. Chime made a low note, giving Tris an annoyed look.
"Sorry about that," Daja said. "Chime's... a very curious little thing."
no subject
Cocking his head down at the held creature and the trio, the Shinigami shrugged. "I don't mind the whole curious thing ... matter of fact I'm feelin' a bit curious myself. Just what in the hell is that critter and why can I see through it?"
no subject
"A glass dragon," Tris explained. "A magical construct with her own life." Chime trilled, aware that she was the center of the discussion. "She was made entirley of glass, last time I saw her."
"...She was glass back in Emelan, too, but I dunno what in Oti's name she is now." Daja frowned.
Tris made a face. "I'm Trisana, and this is my sister, Daja, and my brother, Briar." Tris eyed Kenpachi, heading closer. "And you are?" She had a headache, and it was growing steadily worse, but she was used to them.
Daja, meanwhile, was attempting to see if her brother was awake. "Hey, theif-boy. Are you awake?" Daja poked at her brother, an eyebrow raised.

The plant-mage yelped when Daja poked him. "No," he replied, "I'm sleeping. And I ain't really here, either."
Of course he was awake! Would he be standing here, otherwise? And no, don't answer that from Tris' perspective.
"Just because I ain't talking doesn't mean I ain't paying attention."

Like an old machine finally running smoothly, the recollection that had been tickling his brain at last slipped into place. Kenpachi motioned towards the redheaded-girl ... Trisana was it? with his chin. "I think you an' I talked before." With his right hand he withdrew the black journal, holding the slim box up in reference. "On this thing. 'm Kenpachi. The dead guy." He beamed a little with smug pride, pleased with himself for retaining the memory.

Briar, do you have any clue what he's talking about, or am I not the only one confused here? This place was strange, Oti log it. Very strange.
"...DEAD?"

Chime, meanwhile, was busy heading back to Kenpachi. The glass dragon voiced a soft trill, staring up at Kenpachi. Tris snickered. "No, Chime, you can't climb on his shoulders. I doubt you'd get very far." Chime made a disappointed noise. "She was smaller, back... uh, yes. And not very humanoid at all... She used to sit on my shoulders all the time, but... I doubt that's possible now."
Chime made a disappointed noise, poking Kenpachi with a finger.

If he's talking about that journal-thing, sort of, he told Daja. Tris showed me how to access a map on one of those, but I haven't tried to figure out anything else with it. Considering that the map seemed to know where I was and where Tris was, I would imagine that there is some way to linking all of them, like how we have our bond. The plant-mage shrugged visibly. Not that I know anything about them.
Briar raised an eyebrow at Daja's exclamation, Kenpachi's words sinking in following his sister's outburst. Really, after the whole being-turned-into-an-animal thing, and the thing with the guys, and stuff, Briar was just tired of being surprised. He didn't have the energy for it anymore.

Daja again raised her eyebrows. Briar, is it just me, or has Tris been meeting weirder and weirder people? First the guys on the train...
"...Daja, you know I can hear you." Tris shot an annoyed glance at Daja. Marluxia is not that weird, gods curse it! He-- Tris paused, turning an interesting shade of pink in the face. "Shut up, Daja! SHUT UP. Briar, not a word."
"I didn't say anything."

Tris... and... and... Cue mental laughter to mimic the vocalized version. Gods, he was going to get it, but he was sure that it would be worth it. This was an opportunity that he just couldn't pass up. There was a good chance it was just a reaction to all the insanity of the past few days. However, that wasn't going to save him when Tris decided he made a good lightning rod...

"...'pparently I'm missin' somethin' here, eh?" The Captain shrugged. "I'm used to it by now, but judgin' by the way you're red in the face, I'm bettin' it was somethin' y' think I'm better off not hearin'." Kenpachi smirked, using one of his massive hands to slick the hair away from his face.
((ooc: THREE TIMES I had to check myself to not call her Sparky. *falls over dead*))

Briar was a dead mage walking. So very dead. Daja was fighting not to bust a gut at Briar's impending doom, covering her mouth with her metal-covered left hand. Chime was looking very confused by it all and had decided that Kenpachi's coat would be an interesting snack.
Tris's hair was sparking. A lot. The grey-eyed mage was glowering at Briar. "Shut. Up." Her attention was focused on her brother for the time being, but that soon changed. The mage turned her attention to Kenpachi, little bits of lightning clinging to her hair, eventually flickering out and dying as she took deep breaths- in through her nose, hold, out.
"...You wouldn't lose any money on that bet," Daja said before her sister spoke. "Most people do miss something with us, especially when Tris makes it a point to keep what she's saying in our heads."
Pause.
"That will never sound right," Tris added, cheeks still bright pink.
[...That should be another thing for the drinking game. Any time Kenpachi calls Tris Sparky. XD]

Tris... he spoke mentally. If the weather-witch was expecting an apology, it would be a long time coming. What she would find herself faced with, instead, was an image of how red her face looked. No, Briar didn't have a death wish. Really.

He turned his attention to the boy, and grinned like the cat who ate the canary. "I'd watch out, kid. Sparky here looks like she's pissed enough to eat steel and shit bullets. ...if her gettin' all lightning-like is what I think it means."
((ooc: AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA.))

Tris's hair once again set to sparking, and the sparks started crawling along the rest of her body. She glared. "Briar, do you honestly think I am in any sort of mood to put up with this... juvenile behavior?" she snapped. "I'm tired, half-naked, I don't have my glasses, and if you don't stop laughing? I will make sure you have a scorch mark on your behind you won't soon be losing."
Daja snorted, heading over to stand further away from Briar and Tris. She eyed Kenpachi, leaning on her staff, metal-wrapped left hand in full view. "Never seen a weather-witch or lightning-mage in a bad mood? She used to scorch the roof off our house when she got annoyed."
no subject
Threats to his behind were enough to sober Briar, for a while anyway. He held up his hands in a gesture of surrender. "Tris, unlike Daja over there, we're still kids and entitled to be juvenile on occassion. I'm just as tired and half-naked as you, if you didn't notice, and I ain't sparking." Nevermind the fact that he couldn't spark. "Why don't you lighten up a little bit?"
Open mouth, insert foot.

"Ain't nothin' wrong wit' bein' half naked." Granted, the girl looked like she had about as much of a sense of humor as Genryuusai-dono had, but it was worth a shot. And if she could zap people with lightning like she was threatening ... well that'd be fun. He shrugged carelessly at Tris, still wearing the grin. "Where'd you loose your specs an' yer clothes, Sparky?"
...
Not like he was volunteering to help find them or anything.

"...Y-y-you!" Forget Briar, Tris was gonna shock the hell out of this man. She made a face, shaking her head. "A place I'm not going back to. In any case..." Tris closed her eyes, sliding into her power and adjusting her eyes.
By the same process she used to fidget with her magical sight, she was working with her eyes. Though she preferred to save her power in this regard, not being able to see was getting to be a headache.
Daja raised her eyebrows at Tris, whose sparks were all but gone. Tris tossed the remnants offhandedly in Briar's direction. "That's better."
no subject
You know, despite the fact that that kind of hurt, I think I'm glad you didn't shock that guy, the plant-mage told his weather-working sister. I'm not sure that he'd have liked it very much.
At least this time he wasn't laughing at his sister. After all, Sparky had just sparked him.
