Outside my comfort zone [Completed]
Character(s): Chris and Wander
Content: Zexen's top knight finds herself in unfamiliar territory.
Setting: Muspelheim Gate
Time: Saturday Afternoon
Warnings: None
This wasn't right... Never before had she experienced something like this. Was it the rune's doing, or something else? It was still a blur and she couldn't remember much except arriving at her home in Vinay del Zexay at taking a nap shortly after. Nevertheless, Chris stood outside a most strange structure. It was spherical in shape with a single entrance in which there were people lined up. Seeing that she wasn't completely alone was comforting. Maybe one of them would be able to tell her what was going on.
Heading over there, Chris approached one of the many blonde-haired men and spoke to him.
"Excuse me but... Could you tell me where I am?"
"What? You don't know? This is Paixao."
His response left Chris nothing short of confused. "Pikesow...?" Chris had never heard of a village named like that before. It was obvious that she was no longer in Vinay del Zexay, or the Grasslands for that matter. But just how far away had she been sent to?
Dunan? Toran? The Island Nations?
There was no way to tell unless she got more information on this 'Pikesow' and where it was located.
"Hmmm, I see. Thank you, I must be off."
Clearly ignoring the rest of the line, Chris made her way to the front but was cut off by yet another blonde-haired man.
"Sorry, but if you want to enter, you need to make the line just like everybody else."
"Line...?" Chris over her should and took notice of the disgruntled looks some of the people where giving her for cutting in front just like that. "A-Ah, my apologies, but I'm afraid I'm in a bit of a hurry."
The blonde man sighed. "You young people are always in a rush, never really taking the time appreciate anything."
Chris raised an eyebrow and stared at him. Was he criticizing her when they just met? "Excuse me? I'm not..."
Unfortunately, the man didn't even let her continue. "Very well, name." he said, taking out a pencil and notepad.
"... Chris, Chris Lightfellow."
After jotting her name down, he took out a small metal box and held it out for her.
"Alright. Here, take this and move along."
The Zexen knight stared at the item in his hand. Things just kept getting stranger by the moment here.
"Uh, what am I supposed to do with this?"
"Just take it." he said, forcefully putting the box on Chris' armored hand before heading back to attend the people in the line.
Staring at the weird object for a moment Chris decided that she might as well take it with her and headed through the gate and into 'Pikesow'.

He spent most of the night trying to figure out the workings of the bizarre little... thing he was handed; it was smooth and polished and appeared to be something like a printer's box.
Another mimic.
Now Wander sat next to the "tree" fooling around with the "tome" as Wander had chosen to call it. It was exceptionally helpful, he hadn't mastered the art, but by touching each symbol block, he could write and by pushing one symbol in particular the paper changed into a map, which the traveler guessed was this land itself.
It was pretty confusing, but vastly interesting, he could sit the whole day like this.

"Fake trees, townspeople that all look the same, being given a strange box only moments after arriving... Something's not right."
Chris couldn't quite place her finger on just what exactly was so strange about this place. She'd seen stranger things before, so what was it about here that made her feel so uncomfortable?
Moving on, Chris spotted yet another fake tree, a sight which she was, frankly, starting tired of seeing. But this one was different from the others. There was someone sitting next to it. More important than that however was the fact that his hair was not blonde, but red. And he was dressed in clothing that was different from what she seen so far.
Why did this man look so different than everybody else? Maybe talking to him would finally give her the answers she was looking for.
"Excuse me." she said, heading over to him. "I'm sorry to trouble you, but... do you know anything about this village and it's people? I've only recently arrived, you see, but I have no idea how I was taken here."

Wander turned to see an armored figure patrolling towards him. Lord's soldiers, even here!? Panicing, he tried to stand and draw his sword at once, failing at both, he tripped back over the blade, he landed on his rear and stared at the approaching knight.
"I'm sorry to trouble you, but..." The knight continued, "Do you know anything about this village and it's people? I've only recently arrived, you see, but I have no idea how I was taken here."
Upon looking a second time, the armor bore little resemblance to that of the soldiers with Emon... and more importantly, he was being addressed by a.. a woman. Who, as far as Wander had ever heard, were never admitted into any army in his or the surrounding lands. what a relief.
As for the question she asked, he realized that was the question he should have been investigating this whole time.
"I'm afraid not" ,He replied "I've... only just come myself."

She was thankful that he didn't manage to draw his sword however, because she would've had to do the same. Once the danger passed, Chris promptly apologized to him. "Forgive me, I did not mean to startle you." she said, removing her hands from Ervich's hilt.
"You are not from here either? Hmmm."
Chris couldn't help but notice how different the boy's appearance was. So far, she had only seen blonde-haired men and women who all seemed to dress like one another. But this one had red hair and clothing that seemed reminiscent of what a Grasslander would wear, if anything. It was strange, they both looked nothing like the other townspeople and neither of them knew what was going on.
Yet, here they were.
More and more questions came into Chris' head with each passing moment. But before she could dedicate any time to them, she noticed the box the boy was carrying.
"This strange box..." said Chris, holding out the one she was carrying. "You were given one too?"

"Ah!" ,In epiphany, He dug at his side and produced his own journal and held it towards hers "yes."
Wander paused and let his eyes stray over the armor she was wearing, it was bulky, yet curved and turned into some sort of strange cape near the waist.
"Who are you?" Wander peered back up towards the knight in a mixture of curiosity and wariness.

"Oh, right, my apologies. I am Chris Lightfellow, Captain of the Zexen Knights. And you might be...?"
