Those damn kids [Completed/RP log]
Character(s): Repliku and Xenos
Content: Because Vexen made the mistake of creating two very bored teenaged boys, the twins decide to do what teenagers do best:buttsecks break out of the lab and run amuck in the city. But first, the breaking out part.
Setting: Unmarked lab (block F11)
Time: VERY early Sunday Morning. Like 1am-ish.
Warnings: Foul language, completely the fault of Repliku, who thinks he's cooler by replacing every other word with a curse.
That was all Repliku really had to say about... this. "This" being the fact that he and Xenos were, after a very unsettling encounter with Vexen, imprisoned in a room with no windows and one (locked) door. The room was a comforting white, and they had books and such, but that was for Xenos. Repliku didn't really care for books. In fact, Vexen didn't leave much for him to do at all, so the Riku clone settled for laying on the table, swinging his sword in the air.
"Goddamnit, I want to do something. And I'm hungry," Repliku announced, knowing full well that Xenos couldn't do much about that.
Xenos blinked and looked up froom his book. It was dry, dull, full of poor grammar and legalese. It was there, though, so he'd been reading it. Now he closed it. "...There must be some way out."
"There better be," Repliku replied, sitting up from his spot on the table. The thing was made of marble and was cold as hell, but the bed didn't look any better. God, what kind of heartless bastard designed this room anyway?
"... Hey. Think if we put our powers together we can break that door down?" The clone grinned, obviously losing a fair bit of his sanity from being locked up so long.
Xenos was oddly invigorated, seeing Repliku's grin. He - he'd been a bit pessimistic about their chances of exit, but now. well, Perhaps his power would respond to his call this time. perhaps he wasn't so weak now that he wasn't half-asleep in his heart and head. "Well," he said, "it's worth a try. If it doesn't work the first time, we'll simply try again."
The idea of annihilating something made him weirdly happy.
Well, that was that. They were gonna break the door down! Leaping off the table now, the clone landed a bit sloppily and stumbled his way to the door. Damnit, he'd have to work on that.
Pointing his weapon to the door, Repliku waited for his brother to do the same. He wasn't sure exactly how they were going to break it down... guess they could hit it?
Xenos erked and steadied Riku. "...We're going to do this," he said softly. "If at first it fails, we'll try again until it's done."
He summoned both weapons, and jumped a bit at the feeling of energy rushing down into his hands, transforming from will into metal. It had been easier that time, and the weapons felt somehow more REAL in his hads. "...Marble and wood aren't as strong as us...and - maybe - do you suppose we have magic too?"
Right. There was no use doing anything if you were just gonna give up the moment it wasn't going your way. Repliku grinned insanely at the prospect of hacking the door away... but honestly? Even Repliku knew it'd take a fair bit of hacking to get a marble slab down.
"Magic? I guess, it's just like..." Repliku frowned. He actually had no idea how magic worked. "How do you work magic?"
Xenos realised he had no idea. "Perhaps it's - "
He tried doing what Vexen had, and snapped his fingers.
Nothing.
"...Um."
Okay, so there was definitely more. Magic was...will, energy and knowledge. Knowledge of the energy of the spell moved by the will. "It's something like summoning our swords, I think, only instead of htee sword you summon fire or...ice."
Repliku had to roll his eyes at the attempt to snap, although he was secretly hoping that it would work. But magic wasn't that easy... unfortunately. But summoning his weapon seemed so... natural, he could do it without thought. Was magic really supposed to be the same?
"So, if we focus our power and will it... we can do it?" Repliku asked. He had no particular element in mind though. Anything that could explode a door.
"I think so," Xenos said. "That5 feels like it's right." He eyed the door. He glared at it a bit. "So we need something that can shatter stone."
Repliku stared at the door for a moment, like he was analyzing it. Though there wasn't much to analyze, it was a freaking rock.
"Who cares? Let's just hit it with what we got, anything should break down when you hit it hard enough."
Xenos thought. "...That;s so. Ice could frature it, fire melt it down, thunder detonate it--"
Two more elements - dark and light.
He wouldn't use dark.
Repliku seemed to hear his brother's thoughts. No, the darkness wouldn't do. They were better than that, tempered to use the light. It was evident in the manner they summoned their weapons.
"Light, then. It's the most powerful one of them all - it should be able to tear that door apart."
Xenos nodded. "We...we need - the Dark's...necessary. It's our opposite. It can't exist without light, and light without dark. But that's not who we are..."
He stood in front of the door. "So then - light. It should be natural for us."
"And it exists, right? Our originals must have been pretty damn dark if you use that logic," Repliku pointed out, not wanting to admit that they needed such a thing. The darkness. Ugh. He could even see it bleeding through the sides of the pristine white door. This place reeked of it.
But he was also hungry. Like hell he was letting some Darkness stop him from eating.
"Alright then," Repliku decided it was now or never, so he closed his eyes and thought... it was hard to think about free energy, but he tried anyway, attempting to focus all of his thoughts on the tip of his weapon.
"... Is it doing anything yet?"
Xenos nodded, and smiled. He understood. He really did... "We're their yang..." He trailed off as Repliku pointed the tip of his weapon (why was that such a familiar sword?) at the door.
He could feel the energy moving but - but - nothing happened.
"Um. Maybe we need more - more - um. Something. Focus?" He wouldn't laugh, that was mean.
Obviously nothing was happening, because nothing was blowing up. Augh. Repliku opened eye at his brother and scowled, trying to figure out what was missing. He had plenty of focus, damnit (OK, not really, his thoughts were more in the line of 'This is stupid' instead of 'BLOW UP THE DOOR'"
"You try first," He finally yielded, lowering the sword. "You look like you'd be more magical than me anyway."
"I do?" Xenos blinked. He was - blushing. "All right...?"
He closed his eyes and crossed his blades over his heart and focused.
/break. break break break break shatter dissolve dissipate unlock OPEN--/
He flung the swords wide and pointed at the door.
There was a brilliant flash, and nothing else!
Xenos ercked and staggered back, crashing onto the bed.
"...That went well," he deadpanned.
Well, way to be dramatic. Repliku smirked, but said nothing. Hey, he might actually do it. Watching his brother swing the swords, it looked like he would actually do it, a flash of light forming from the tips and filling up the entire room. But when it faded, the door was still there and Xenos had staggered back into the bed.
"X-Xenos!" Repliku gasped, running to his brother's side and moving him to an upright position.
"... Hey, at least you did something," Repliku joked, but the worry was still there in his voice as he looked the other clone over. "Are you alright?"
Vexnos blinked repeatedly. "I think So. ...Wow..." He squinted, tried to grab the after image dot twice before relaising what it was, then tried to look dignified. "I had something but - I think I lost it...maybe we should just hit it until it breaks instead."
Fortunately, Xenos didn't actually look injured, just stunned... perhaps he just lost control of his power. That was OK. Repliku liked his next idea better, but now he was a tad bit hesitant.
"Alright, but are you sure you're alright? I don't want to drag you around if you're not feeling good," The replica reminded his brother, face etched with seriousness. "I'm serious, you sure that flash didn't do anything to you?"
Xenos checked himself over. "no. I feel a little lees...um. Full of energy? But I'm fine." Xenos smiled. "IF I wasn't I'd tell you."
Repliku nodded. Alright then. They were good to go. He extended a hand to help his brother up and stared at the door for a moment, a grin coming to his face.
"This is gonna be fun."
Xenos took Repliku's hand.
HE grinned.
"I concur."
That door was gonna get it. As soon as his brother was steady on his feet, Repliku summoned his weapon again, grinning as the energy formed in his hand. Perhaps the clone looked a bit too excited, but it was time for him to release some pent up energy.
With a fierce cry, he charged towards the door and immediately began hacking at it, the light-charged blade slicing through the marble and leaving fine cuts along it's surface. Not bad, actually!
"A little harder than I thought," Repliku frowned, surveying the damage he did. The marble was definitely on it's way to collapsing, but not quite yet.
Xenos's face lit up as Repliku's attack started to weaken the marble. Taking up his blades again, the other replica lunged at the door. "Take THIS--"
He actually collided with the marble blades-first, bringing them both down hard on the weakened stone. A haze of light seemed to precede him as he rushed the door...
Xenos was doing slightly more damage to the door. Did he just hear a crack? Granted, it was taking some time to break the door down, being a rock and all, but Repliku could start to see cracks in it...
"There!" The replica kindly pointed out the forming crack by jamming his sword into it, using it as some kind of lever to widen the crack. Combined with Xenos's blows further weakening the door, the marble slab finally gave in and collapsed on itself, the pieces falling on the floor and the white hallway coming into view.
"... Heh." The clone only grinned. "That geezer must really think we're stupid or something."
Xenos perked as the door collapsed. He gave one of the few standing shards a good kick, then peered out into the hall.
"Either that, or so dreadfully scared of him that we would just obey everything without question," he said, crinkling his nose like an irritated cat. "I'm not afraid of him, I'm afraid of his damned ice..."
If Vexen tried that again he'd just - jump straight up and over. Ha.
"Now where do we go?"
Repliku concurred. The ice thing was fucking freaky.
"Good point. I wanna just get out of here..." Repliku muttered, looking around at the various doors that were littered all over the place. Weird, when did they get here? What kind of fucking building was this anyway? True, this was the first building he had seen in his very shot life but even he knew that doors were not supposed to randomly pop up whenever they please.
... Right?
"Let's just go straight?" The Replica suggested, pointing to the massive door forward. He then blanched. "No, wait, we just came from there... right or left?"
Xenos was getting dizzy. "I really detest this place," he muttered. And the double doors were unnerving him. "...well, all we can do is open a door and see where it leads?"
The seeker's replica walked forward, took hold of the door handles, and pulled.
The doors silently pulled open (they had handles? Thank the lord!) and they were greeted with the sight of what looked like an office. There were books and notes scattered all over the place, like someone just ransacked the place. Evidently, it appeared that either someone broke in or Vexen just sucked at record keeping.
Repliku walked inside, kicking aside the random notes. He caught something about "The Metaphysics of the Heart" and some other crap that he could care less about, but something caught his eye...
"Hey, it's one of those journal things!" Repliku grinned, walking forward and snatching it. They had become acquainted with the objects while they were locked up and chatted a bit through them, but Repliku had no idea Vexen had one too (was it even his?). He looked it over. No pen. Ugh.
"You think it's the geezer's?" Repliku asked, flipping it open. It was still on, and to Repliku's delight, opened to a map.
Xenos perked at the 'Metaphysics of the Heart' papers and picked up a few. He perked even more as Repliku found the map.
"Well, if even HE needs a map to navigate this place, that proves this place is mad and he's as mad as it is to want to live here," Xenos said dryly.
"Heh," The replica grinned and poked at the journal, wondering if he should try accessing anything else. But no, he might lose the map. "Figures, he probably forgets where everything is cuz he's so old. Alright, let's bust out of here!" The replica decided... now, were they?
The journal told him enough: there were two blips on the screen, right in the middle of a room. Repliku could only guess what those were.
"Alright, so we just gotta find the exit..." Repliku poked and prodded a bit, but nothing seemed to indicate a way he could move it around. Damn technology! "Damn, I guess we're just gonna have to walk around. C'mon," He was already making his way out of the room, satisfied to see that the blips on the screen were following. Well, one of them anyway.
Xenos picked up a few more notes, then followed Repliku. "is he really that old, or is it simply that he's stuffy?"
He hoped this map could guide them to an exit. wandering around an endless maze of pointless doors wasn't his idea of a good time.
"Nah, he's OLD," Repliku stated this like it was fact. Which is totally was. "Seriously, look at him. It's a wonder his hair isn't grey yet. Bet you it's a wig." Seriously.
Unfortunately, it seemed that they were just wandering around aimlessly, for the map wasn't particulary descriptive. Just a bunch of rooms and nothing more. As they walked, Repliku didn't see anything that could signify a door... Unless...
Wait, was there one in that lab they just came from? Repliku didn't remember another door there...
"Huh? Looks like the exit was where we just came from. That doesn't make any sense," The clone frowned, looking up and then back down at the map. "What the fuck?"
"I don't know. Maybe it changes." Xenos poked the journal. "..>we could go back where we came and se ei fthe exit reveals itself. It could be hidden..."
"Yeah, I guess," Repliku shrugged. A place that constantly changes? Goddamnit, he was hating the geezer with every passing minute.
of course, that quickly changed when they made their way to the door. Repliku at first attempted to kick it open, because his hands were occupied. That didn't work, so he tried the handles. They didn't bulge. UGH.
Then he saw the small electronic lock situated right above the handles. Well, he thought it was a lock. What the crap?
"... Uh, any ideas?" He pointed to it, looking at Xenos. He'd just smash it, but that seemed too easy. Obviously, they weren't supposed to leave this place and Vexen probably set up this weird building as such.
Xenos peered at the lock.
"I think it takes a code as the key..."
He lifted the cover over the keypad. "It takes a password. Maybe Vexen has it written in his journal?"
If not they could short the lock out.
"Hey, yeah! But... well, I guess the map doesn't matter now," Repliku shrugged. He'd find some way to get it back. He handed the journal to his brother, having more faith in him finding it.
Xenos took the journal, and pressed a few buttons. it seemed the map was 'bookmarked' - flagged with a virtual posti-it for ease of access. "Hmm--"
He found records of chemical formulae, schedules, lists and other miscellaneous information...but nothing that looked like a password.
Repliku grew bored, seeing as how Xenos didn't seem to be having much success. He sighed, examaning the lock. it was a keypad lock, same old, same old... looked like it would take four numbers. He hoped.
"Looks like it takes four numbers," Repliku observed, hoping that would aid Xenos.
Then he had a moment of stupidity.
Grinning madly, he randomly punched in the best number in the universe to see what would happen.
"One-Three-Three-Seven..."
And to his utter astonishment, the lock gave a beep and he heard something unclick.
"... That did not just happen."
"what did you just..." Xenos trailed off. "Oh no. You did not just unlock it with - th - heh."
He started to snerk, then he laughed out loud.
"The universe is taunting us~"
Repliku joined in Xenos's laughter rather easily, practically holding his sides. Of all the things to work! The geezer was cooler than he thought! Hahaha, a pun!
"HAHAHA! Ah, who cares, it got us out. See?"
The door opened up to a stretch of grass, a veritable plain that seemed to go on for miles. There was a white patch somewhere off in the distance, shimmering in the moonlight. Above, the stars could be seen, glittering and twinkling. Repliku could even feel the cool air breezing through.
"Let's ditch this place," His sentiments hardly needed to be shared.
Xenos stepped out into the cool ngiht air. No scent of the dark, of ice and soap and chemicals, just clean wind and green grass...
"I don't care where we go as long as we're together."

of course, that quickly changed when they made their way to the door.
