Entry tags:
an unexpected detour [Solo/Completed]
Character(s): Yuzuriha, and anybody else jumping in.
Content: A few mistakes, confusion, and a new beginning. Yuzuriha enters Paixao.
Setting: Muspelheim gate.
Time: Midday Saturday.
Warnings: Rambling. xD
Yuzuriha was used to forests; she'd grown up near one, after all. And sometimes, she preferred the forests of the countryside to the hustle and bustle of the city. So really, being in the middle of a forest was nothing new.
But, as far as she could remember, she was supposed to be on a train to Tokyo.
'Where..?' Panic started to cloud her thoughts, but she caught hold of her nerves enough to tell herself to find Inuki. She didn't have to look far, for he had been lying by her side while she was asleep. Idly running her hand through his fur, she calmed herself as she got to her feet. As long as Inuki was still here with her, things would be okay.
"Don't panic," she added to herself, quietly. After saying it aloud, it made more sense. Looking down to her inugami, she smiled. "Right?" With a renewed sense of purpose, she brushed off her uniform and paused a moment to think.
She was fairly sure that the train couldn't have crashed. Even if she had dozed off, she was pretty sure that she'd notice if her train suddenly crashed in the forest. And this definitely wasn't Tokyo, plus there weren't any landmarks that Yuzuriha could see. So, they would have to start walking, if she wanted to make any headway.
"Which way, Inuki?" she asked. When her spirit-dog turned his head in a certain direction, Yuzuriha simply nodded and started off down that path.
Apparently she was right to trust her companion, because it wasn't long before the trees began to thin and she came across a large gathering of people. But it wasn't the people that caught her eye at first- it was the large gates below which the people were grouped. They were enormous, and modeled to look like leaping golden flames. At first, Yuzuriha wondered if this were some sort of tourist attraction, but the people in the crowd certainly didn't look like tourists.. But, there was only one way to find out. She approached the closest person in line, and smiled brightly.
"Hello! My name is Nekoi Yuzuriha," she introduced herself as usual. It was best to be direct, but not rude. "I'm not from around here. Would you be able to tell me where we are, and how to get to Tokyo?"
The man eyed her with an air of disdain, before replying: "I don't know any more than you do. You'd best wait in line." Yuzuriha blinked, a bit unsure what the purpose of the line even was. But as she paused, even more people started to join the crowd, falling into line behind her. It looked like waiting in line was the right thing to do. Even if this wasn't Tokyo, her Grandmother had told her to be prepared for long lines in big cities!
"Oh, well thank you, mister.." Yuzuriha said, only to find that he was no longer listening. Undaunted, she took her place in line and waited. Since she still had her backpack with her, she pulled out a box of pocky and nibbled absently on a stick as she waited. For a while, the line moved such that she didn't even notice until she was suddenly standing in front of a counter with a clipboard-toting man on the other side.
"Name?" he asked. Well, here was a question that she could answer!
"Nekoi Yuzuriha," she replied. But, instead of asking any more questions, he just wrote something down and handed her a little blue box- like something out of a mecha anime. Placing the snacks back into her backpack, she accepted the blue thing with both hands- even if she didn't know what it was, that was only polite.
"Welcome to Paixao," he said, and gestured towards the gate. She figured that he wanted her to go through. Looking up at them, the large arches looked even bigger from beneath them, up close. But, with Inuki by her side, she looked forward again and entered the city.
