Laharl VS Mao! FIGHT! [Active]

Character(s): Laharl and Mao
Content: Mao stole Laharl's video games... who cares if they might not really be real or something. PRINCIPAL.
Setting: The 6th floor, Netherworld, the Stellar Graveyard
Time: Noon
Warnings: MANY.

This wasn't really so much about the video games, it was more just the whole principal of the thing--at least, that's what Laharl was telling himself. Even if he had, maybe, let his temper get the best of him and maybe this was stupid, the thought of that white haired freak nosing around the room bugged him no end. It also wasn't like this was the first time Mao had pissed him off; he'd this coming for awhile now.

There was also the fact he hadn't had an all out fight in a long time. If he was going to beat the boss of this place, he needed to be in top form, especially after all that had happened lately. This could be a good warm up for the big event, if nothing else, providing Mao was half as good as he said he was.

Laharl had been careful to escape the castle without being seen. The challenge had been public after all. He knew Flonne could be around any corner ready to give in a lecture. His mother probably wouldn't be pleased about this either, but it wasn't enough to dissuade him at this point.

It had been a long time since he'd been in the Stellar Graveyard; not since the humans had tried to invade the Netherworld. It was quiet and empty--it was the perfect place for this. Now to just find Mao...

Mao, of course, was ten minutes late, and as far as Mao was concerned Laharl could consider himself lucky that Mao had decided to keep to his ten minute minimum, rather than waiting longer. He had been itching for a good fight. That girl had been a good challenge, sure, but it wasn't as though Mao could have gone all out at that time. Facing another demon--another Overlord--somewhere he could truly show his stuff... Now that was something else.

Not that Mao had meant for it to get to this point. Truth be told, he had only been taking advantage of an opportunity when he stole those games. All he had wanted at the time was an outlet to charge his Slaystation portable with and the games had been sitting there. Mao had had an idea who they belonged to, and he wasn't one to ignore the chance to stir up a little trouble when Laharl confirmed that the room Mao had invaded had been his, but he hadn't thought Laharl would get that pissed. You would have thought Mao had just tried to kill him or something.

Though Mao could sort of understand. If it had been his games...

"Heh... Out here already? Are you that eager to be on the operating table?"

Mao only grinned. "Of course I am. What demon in his right mind would be on time? If you can't even grasp the basics, then I've already won." Mao drew his sword and moved to close the distance between the two of them.

Mao pressed harder on his blade, determined to meet Laharl's force with his own. He wasn't going to break to some damn cockroach that easily. Still, he didn't quite have the strength Laharl did and his grip began to shake.

Mao's blade began to be pushed back toward him, and he grit his teeth, trying to keep Laharl's back. Finally, with a grunt, he made a last shove with his sword to the side to put Laharl off balance.

Brow creased in concentration, Mao swung his sword to deflect Laharl's blow. If he couldn't overpower Laharl, he could at least keep his strikes at bay until there was an opening.

Mao swung to deflect again, scanning the other Overlord for any chance of attack.
drillsanddrool: (Ready for round two?)

Mao staggered backward, only barely managing to keep his sword up shakily in defense. He took in a few gasping breaths, but recovered quickly, glaring back at Laharl. That was dirty... but impressive. Laharl may have been prompt, but he wasn't afraid to be practical in a fight.

Still, the fact that it had been done to Mao himself didn't earn Laharl that many points.

"K, Keh..." Mao thrust a hand forward, and the air took a sudden turn for the cold as large spikes of ice burst from the ground.
drillsanddrool: (GO ALMAZBOAT GO)

Mao grinned and took his chance to charge. If he could get a strike in after that energy was over with...
drillsanddrool: (well... that didn't work)

[personal profile] drillsanddrool 2012-11-01 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The force of Mao's intended blow sent him off balance, stumbling a little when Laharl dodged.
drillsanddrool: (Tis but a flesh wound)

Mao was sent reeling from the punch, his sword flying from his hand and hitting one of the remaining ice spikes with a loud clatter before falling to the ground. Mao was quick to recover and cast another ice spell, glancing between Laharl and his sword and trying to formulate a plan to get back over to it.

Mao sucked in a sharp breath. Damn! He's going that far now?!

A scowl of determination set on his face, Mao ran forward to get out of the way of the attack. As the orbs struck the earth, Mao was sent flying forward, skidding to a stop in a crouch next to his sword. He wrenched it from the ground and hopped backwards. A bright, red glow surrounded him, forming wings, and he leaped backward, only to fly back in Laharl's direction.
drillsanddrool: (mine is an evil laugh)

Mao turned back toward Laharl once his attack hit, a cocky grin on his face as he surveyed the damage.

Mao's grin remained. "Heh, this isn't even half of my power." He pointed at Laharl. "Just don't complain when you get hurt!"

Mao tossed his sword into the air and his hand glowed with a bright light. "Shine Beam!" He punched forward and threads of light filled the air. With almost imperceptible movements of his hand, the threads increased in number and intensity, becoming almost blinding until they disappeared.
