I've been waiting for this... [completed]
Character(s): Vexen and Riku
Content: Vexen wanted to go gather some data to start his preliminary experiments. And how else does Vexen get data? Yup, bitchfight between him and Riku the day before the Org meeting.
Setting: Actua Are Hotel near center of Paixao, on the rooftop.
Time: Friday Late Afternoon
Warnings: Uh... violence, I guess? XD
Yes, it was somewhat creepy even by his standards, but Riku was the perfect specimen for his planned experiments. Of course, he did not intend to use the actual Riku - Riku may have been one of his, but the Keyblade Master and his friends wouldn't let such a thing slide by. No, it was better to simply gain the data he needed and perform his experiments in asafe sterile laboratory setting.
Now if only Riku would actually get here...
As the red dot continued to fly up the floors, Vexen concluded Riku was indeed heading for the rooftop. The rooftop was bare, nothing but a crystalline pool surrounded by abandoned chairs and an equally abandoned snack bar. The water shimmered and sparkled, reflecting the setting sun's rays.
Who knew there would be a battle taking place very shortly? Yes, Vexen needed battle data, and provoking the young boy should prove to be very easy.

He flew up the stairs by twos and threes, the best workout he'd gotten since coming to this place. But eventually, he ran out of stairs. There was nowhere else to run.
Riku emerged from the stairwell into a grey, cold, shitty day. He didn't even care at the moment. Looking around the rooftop, he found it completely deserted, which worked for him.
Riku walked over to the half frozen pool in the center of the large space and knelt down to rinse the blood off his face.

No, he didn't care that Riku was hurt, but if the boy was injured, the data would be corrupted... the Nobody curiously strained to see what part of Riku was injured, only to let out a mirthful laugh.
He had a nosebleed!
"I don't suppose I should ask what happened in that room...?" Vexen spoke, knowing Riku would be agitated at knowing that someone had been watching him and his friends. That was the point, after all. "It seems like whatever it was, you must have enjoyed the sight."

The sight of the black-robed figure did not inspire confidence in him. But the words the old man uttered immediately pissed him off past the pissing point.
"Number Four!" he shouted without thinking, automatically using the appellation Ansem had used. "You've been following us?!"
He flicked bloody water off his hands and concentrated, summoning Soul Eater. He doubted the Organization member was here for tea.

The man only grinned in response. Had he sparked something from the boy just by being present? This fight was going to prove interesting. Of course, if he provoked Riku (and Ansem's) anger enough, this could also be his last battle.
"I am surprised you remembered me, Riku," Vexen wasted no time in summoning his own weapon, feeling the comfortable weight of his shield on his arm.
"You caused quite a bit of trouble for us earlier on with your antics. I'm here to make sure it doesn't happen again."

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Vexen sneered, walking closer to the boy. Animals always attack when they are cornered in a cage. "First of all, you almost completely destroyed a portion of the city and left us with the cleanup job, and you have the nerve to blame me for something another member did? You seemed to be confused, Riku."
no subject
"I didn't do that!" Riku shouted, truly pissed off, as if he were stating the fact for everything Ansem had done since Riku had let him in, not just in that time since they'd arrived in the city. "That was him, and you know it!"
He gripped Soul Eater more tightly. "And I don't care which one of you did it! Don't try to play mind games with me, old man."
no subject
"I'm sure your friends would have something to say about what you did. I'm frankly surprised you care about Kairi and Naminé. I thought all your attention was on Sora," Vexen continued, relishing this. "Did you tell him yet? Or should I go and do that for you? I have plenty of proof, after all..."
no subject
"Did you tell him yet?"
Riku's pupils dilated in shock.
"Or should I go and do that for you? I have plenty of proof, after all..."
The last part of Vexen's statement didn't even register with Riku, his thoughts having vanished in a blind rage. It didn't matter that there was no way this old man could know his innermost thoughts about his best friend. Neither did it matter how absurd the idea was of a total stranger--an enemy no less--walking up to Sora and revealing this to him. Right now Riku just wanted him to shut up.
With an animal bellow of rage, Riku rushed the Organization member, intending to give his big head a good crack with the blunt edge of his sword, or perhaps bean him with the pommel. "You SHUT UP!"
[ooc: He didn't, but I had to have Riku misunderstand because he just wasn't getting pissed off enough by everything else. XD]
no subject
Excellent. Excellent. Now all he had to do was keep Riku's rage building by taking a leaf out of Larxene's book and attacking his emotions. Vexen never really relished her brash rudeness, but it was necessary in order to keep Riku attacking. Good thing he had no heart, since Vexen cared nothing for Riku's feelings anyway.
"Oh? Why? Are you afraid of what Sora would think?" Vexen taunted, even lowering his shield to present another opportunity to attack. "Afraid that he might reject you? Even hate you?"
Vexen had no idea how deep his words were cutting into Riku's mind. If only he did.
no subject
"Oh? Why? Are you afraid of what Sora would think?"
"Shut up about Sora!" he bellowed, leaping into the air and using the shield as a springboard to flip himself up and over Vexen, landing behind him to attack his unguarded back.
The rest of the old man's taunt did not go over well with Riku, either. "Mind your own business!" He didn't have to worry about what Sora's reaction would be because Sora was never going to find out. Period. Especially not from this old geezer.
Within milliseconds of having touched down, Riku aimed a powerful kick at the robed man's back, intending to send him hurtling into the nearby pool. That should shut him up.
no subject
Naturally, Vexen was prepared for an attack to his back, but Riku's speed was formidable - Vexen couldn't turn around fast enough and caught the blow from the side, shoving him towards the pool. But he was prepared for that too; Vexen quickly casted a powerful Blizzaga, freezing the pool and sliding across it quite harmlessly.
"Temper, temper," Vexen sneered, recovering himself as he floated above the pool's frozen surface. He then launched a counterattack, slamming his shield into the ice. In an attack similar to the one he used against Ansem, spikes began to rise from the surface of the pool, leaving the frozen ground and converging on where Riku was standing on the concrete.
no subject
Freezing the whole pool in one move was pretty badass. Sliding across it like Disney on Ice was not so much. Riku actually started to laugh before the old man launched his attack. He sprinted for the blocked stairwell entrance and leapt for the top of it. He didn't know if the ice spikes would come up here, too, but he sure as hell wasn't going to be standing on the ground with them coming towards him.
Conveniently, the wall of ice made a nice shield, too. Riku popped up from behind it. "What are you trying to prove, old man? If Axel didn't send you, why are you here?"
no subject
He had to smile as Riku expertly dodged the ice spikes that chased him to the wall of ice blocking the door. But Vexen wasn't quite done yet; the spikes ceased and Vexen merely floated there for a moment to take in Riku's taunts.
Then he snapped his fingers.
The ice wall that Riku used for shelter cracked, and with an almost alarming fluidity quickly surrounded the boy's body and began to quickly refreeze, with the intent of completely trapping the boy in it's icy grip.
"Axel has no authority over me," Vexen hissed. "What I came here for is none of your business. I just thought Sora and Kairi would appreciate knowing the truth about you," He added, watching Riku carefully. It was almost as if he had a death wish, just waiting for the boy to explode with rage.
no subject
Riku's body was frozen in a solid block of ice all the way up to his waist by the time he realised he had no choice. This sucked. He wasn't weak. But what this jerk was doing to him was going to make Sora and Kairi realise the truth about him, because Riku wasn't going to be able to escape this on his own.
With a scream of impotent rage, he clapped his hands together and pulled up the full force of his anger from the pit of his stomach, firing it straight down the line of his weapon at the smug old man hovering above the frozen swimming pool. The energy kickback from the Dark Firaga burst the ice surrounding him and threw Riku into the air. He landed running, tearing across the distance after the magical fire, preparing to follow up its effect on Vexen with some lightning-quick attacks.
He had to thank this guy for ruining his life, after all. Ansem was still asleep for now, but he wouldn't be for long with Riku tapping his power. And his eyes had probably already turned gold again.
Ice witch?! >/ More like Ice QUEEN! I mean, uh... >_>;
It may have seemed strange to Riku that Vexen barely made an effort to dodge it, grunting a bit as the full force of the dark energy slammed into his shield. He also barely had enough time to begin blocking Riku's quick follow-up attacks, actually getting hit quite a few times. The force of Riku's powerful attacks caused Vexen to back up right off the ceiling, barely catching himself in the air so he floated some ways away from the enraged boy.
Gasping a bit, Vexen noted the slashes where Riku actually hit him, watching blood drip from the cuts in his coat. They weren't that deep, but deep enough; but no matter, this is what Vexen needed. It was a shame he couldn't collect more data, but this was sufficient enough. With a flash, his shield disappeared from his arm and Vexen held up his arms in mock surrender.
"Well done! I was waiting for you to do that," Vexen shot Riku another unnerving smile. "Now that I have gathered my data, I have no reason to be remain here."
He paused for a moment, staring at Riku curiously.
"That's a lovely shade of amber, by the way." It was hard to tell if Vexen was mocking Riku or not, and he didn't elaborate on it either.
With a final smirk, the old man's form was enveloped in darkness, and when the darkness dissipated, he was gone.
Ice bitch what?
"Now that I have gathered my data, I have no reason to be remain here."
What the--?!
That's right. Number Four was the scientist guy Ansem hated so much. Data. All for fucking data. No wonder he'd been fighting so oddly, had goaded him into attacking first. Riku hadn't thought it possible he could be any more angry than he was.
"How dare you!?" he screamed. He and Ansem had been joined for way too long. "How dare you do this to me just to get information!? I'll fucking kill you!"
The parting shot about his eyes was the last straw. Riku hurled Soul Eater at the Nobody, intent on cutting the old man's head off. But by the time the blade reached the spot where he'd been, there was nothing there but a few tendrils of black smoke.
"FUCK!" Riku yelled. He fell to his knees at the edge of the roof and howled in animal rage.
Why? Why did this have to happen just when he'd found his friends again? Riku could hear the smug answer from the spirit inside him without Ansem being awake to give it. He pushed it aside and ran back to the swimming pool to make sure it was true what the old man had said about his eyes.
An amber gaze regarded him from the icy surface, and Riku screamed again, punching the ice with all of his might. He dented it, but at no small cost to his fist. Riku sat back on his heels, cradling it and turning the air blue with cursewords.
Why? Why did this have to happen?
Now he was alone all over again. And this time there was no King Mickey. No Voice talking him out of the Darkness. Not even Maleficent to coddle and cajole.
Having Ansem inside him didn't make him feel any less lonely. It just made him feel like maybe he should just save everyone the trouble and take both of them out at once.
Sobered by the knowledge he could not go back now--he would not go back; he would not let Sora see him like this--Riku crawled to the shell of the stairwell to get out of the freezing rain and snow. And then he did something he had not done in a long time: he curled up in a ball and cried.
