she's got a heavy heart. ( open / active )

Character(s): Terra Branford & OPEN
Content: Contemplating the recent events
Setting: Elysion Fields, overlooking the gates -- or what's left of them
Time: Sunset
Warnings: Likely mentions of injuries, possibly death...

It was truly a horrific scene. Even the war of the gods had never seen the amount of casualties that likely lay beneath the shattered ruins of the city. Though the worst was now over, Terra felt little relief overlooking the scene, her heart heavy as terrible thoughts crept into her mind. Was this the cost of the freedom that they sought? Was it right that so many had suffered for the destruction of Paixao?

And the natives... They were even more disdainful of their presence now, and the girl could hardly blame them. She couldn't help but feel something as they cast looks her way... was it guilt?

"This is... terrible..." her voice died away as the looked out towards the destruction.

The worst was over now? Hardly. Really, after all, there were fiery, temperamental gods still in the city - or maybe just one - and who knows what else. Tsk. Can't let people get comfortable. And Hades? Hades is in a mood. While he has lost many of the pawns that he had set his eyes on, right now? He's not completely interested in "playing the nice, misunderstood god" this time in order to try and replace them. The fact that he's been upstaged, which he'd been okay on, because it was a work of art and all, has sunken in much more.

He's gotta take it out on someone, and hey, look at her. Seems like the hero type! Seems like the type that needs to be kicked while they're down, maybe not quite Hercules, but it's there. The niggling that she's not quite "like everybody else" and yes, Hades could take advantage of that self-righteous desire and lock it away, maybe churn up a dark spark in a heart, or simply find something to use. Call it a new strategy, and if it gets him nowhere, well, at least he would have eased away of some of his irritation.

"Terrible?" comes the cool voice of the god from Terra's side. "I think you've got it all wrong." He stretches, body twisting like smoke, and then sweeps around to her other side languidly. "Every time..." he says, almost to himself, "Every time, a little bad happens and all of you are, what? Traumatized? Sheesh. Need to harden your bones."

Hades doesn't mind volunteering for that, nope, not at all. He slings an arm over the girl's shoulders and gives them a little squeeze.

Beyond the gates he catches sight of a native. Grins. Reaches out his other hand and twists the long fingers through the air. A flash of orange dances over them, and then, in the distance, a snake of flame coils up from the ground, around the native tightly and burns. Hades just laughs and pushes Terra away from him before she, no doubt, would try to weasel away from his grip.

"Why don't we turn up the heat?" he asks, swirling the fingers, and the flame seizes the native down to the ground. He tilts his head towards her, like he's really, truly just so interested in what she might do. Fighter of words? Of action? He's seen it all, but maybe just once someone could impress him a little.

Expecting some sort of lashing out from her, the god's form parts in half, like cloths of darkness on a hanger, the ice passing through it, and then his body seals back together seamlessly and he glides towards her, arms wide. "Now, now, now! None of that," he chides. "Why, exactly, should I stop?"

He snaps his fingers. A quavering yell of pain can be heard from the little chump of a native that Hades' has his flames around, tugging side to side like a doll. Maybe they should already have hit the bucket, but come on, he's the lord of the dead! And if he feels like drawing this poor sod's death out for his entertainment and Terra's misery, he's going to keep it up.

"Aren't those people ostracizing you? Why shouldn't they feel a little hurt? What do you care?"

Way to ruin his fun. He let the flood do wonders on his flames and allowed the native to go free, but they probably wished they were dead. Why are you so cruel, Terra? Heh.

Hades leaned back, conjuring a chair of smoke behind him and sitting. He looked bored, cheek in hand, raising a finger to spin slowly through the air. "Oh boo hoo. Living and breathing person. What ever will I do?" He laughed. "Sorry, maybe I should introduce myself: Hades, Lord of the Dead."

Was she for real? Please.

"That's a perfect excuse. Or we could go with boredom, especially with you hero types, babbling on and on about being good and caring about these people, or anyone for that matter."

He grinned.

"If I burned you like I did that native, they wouldn't jump to your rescue. They'd be happy. Don't call these people victims." They gave Hades the chills sometimes. "They're not as innocent as you expect them to be."

He leaned back in his chair and folded his arms behind his head.

"They could go through a lot more, you know. I could use the entertainment."

Yeah Terra. Hades doesn't mind going supernova on the natives or anyone else. You're really only going to sway him more towards doing bad, the more you try to get him to behave.

Hades was all set to get into a brawl with her, itching for a fight, something to get rid of his bundle of frustrations - oh he was ready - but then there was the mob coming near them and he actually stifled his laugh. He couldn't ask for better timing.

How does it feel, Terra, to be grouped in the same category as Hades?

He turned to face the oncoming mob, sidling to her side. "Well, well, well..." he hmmmed at her, "look at that. Look at how they turn instantly on you. And you still want to protect these people?" He puffed smoke at her. "You're their scapegoat now."

eegads... <_<

Hades couldn't help it: he doubled over with laughter.

"What's wrong, doll? Can't handle a little social uprising? Maybe you need a push forward --" And with those words she gave her that "push" she needed, closer towards the group of disenfranchised citizens.

"But by all means, if you need some extra help... I'm always so kind to lend aid." In the center of the mob, fire sparked from the ground and ate into another citizen, much like earlier. Hades grinned, wide and ugly. Of course his "help" was more for him, and igniting further rage from the mob.

That's not a problem, is it?!
