She twitched at the sandpaper tongue that dragged along her cheek and grimaced. Her eyes shot opened with a start and letting a cry pass her lips, her arms jerked above her body in attempt to save herself from being crushed — of course, she realized that the beam was being lifted from herself rather than falling this time. Relief washed over her, but she remained pinned under some few of them. Turning her head, she noted a dog — wait was it a dog? — and her thief.
“Doctor, the city—!” It was said as though he couldn’t obviously see what was happening. She gave a grunt as she grasped the beam he was holding to try and help move it from her. “What is happening?”
