Even over his heavily drawn breath relief could still be heard when he spoke. “Ma! Ma, I’m here.” Desperate to reach the meerkat, he clawed at the rock around them and mustered all the strength he could to force his body into the narrow space. The jagged cement and fine gems that encompassed them refused to move to his will, cruelly drawing more than breath from the meerkat as he pushed his way through it. And though he would make it to his mother, it would take everything he had to get them out alive.
