Glow of Night [active]
Character(s): Emizel and Ansem
Content: The path to the doors takes a little longer than expected. A follow-up to the last log with these two.
Setting: Elysian Fields
Time: After sunset
Warnings: .... Guess?
It was weird to think how simple it was to leave comparing how much the first attempt was a failure. All it really took was knowing when the security was at it's weakest and just slip right through. Kind of worried how easy it will be to get back inside though, but Emizel assumed he would cross that bridge when he reached it. Not really a tactic he liked using, but everything by now was a risk he was going to have to take. Especially if he wanted to try to get out of this castle for good.
Really his main goal was only just to find where the floor was, and gathering clues to anything else along the way if he was lucky. Actually going up once he found it was still a little debatable from the fear of it either being too dangerous or getting lost in a different world. So far every word on the street said that the floor was somewhere passed the Elysian Fields, so that was the direction to try going in first.
It was starting to get dark fast though, less than another hour of daylight at the most. Nothing really too concerning when considering he had an exceptional night vision, and, well, a convenient flame behind him to help light the way anyway. Unfortunately said flame also made him an obvious target to anything else out this far. Which might be the only thing that was kind of worrying him right now. But maybe not for too long.
As soon as the sun could no longer be seen, something else happened. For awhile Emizel had no idea that the ground below him was slowly getting brighter, strangely so in fact. Until in the distance vivid shimmering lights could've been seen, and after looking back, they were behind him too.
The grass, for whatever the reason, was glowing. This was something new.
Emizel was not sure what was making it do that, or why it had never happened before the last times he was out here. It was a pretty amazing, almost mesmerizing sight to see though. It was like walking on a sea of glittery blue lights, that temporarily lost their effect when stepped on (leaving behind white footprints for a few seconds) and sparkled a white dust when brushed against something.
He had to keep on moving though. The glow the certainly favorable in a few ways, but from the looks of it, he still had a long way before reaching his hopeful destination.

Besides, he had said they would perhaps be meeting again. That it happened to be in the middle of a glowing field of grass was of no real consequence, as Ansem turned to head towards Emizel. If his approach was noticed, it wasn't like he minded and if not he wouldn't mind being a surprise.

He must be here somewhere. Not that there was anywhere to hide in such an open area like this, so naturally it wasn't hard to find him after just looking around. But still strange that Emizel didn't see him at all sooner.
Doesn't really say anything, just kind of watches confusingly and curiously. Was Ansem out here to get to the door too, or was there some... other, reason.

"Enjoying the sights?"
no subject
"Were you going this way too?" maybe the way to the next floor really was out this direction.
no subject
"I was," Ansem answered with a nod.
no subject
"I hear that there's something interesting behind all this.." perhaps that was an attempt to yank out some information, testing out how much Ansem knew. Seemed like a better plan than the risk of saying too much.
no subject
"So I have heard."
no subject
Emizel made a thoughtful little sound and gazed back over the field. "So you haven't seen it either."

The darkness that was already present in the city hardly needed his watchful eye. It was only the first careful beginnings that required a watchful eye, and really, darkness could and did begin without him. This was merely curiosity and a desire to see what others of his kindred made their presence known.

"Did you manage find your friend?"
no subject
"... How did you.." there was a bit of fear in those words as he slowly faced him again. He never shared that information with Ansem, so how did he know about..
no subject
True, he had certainly guessed. But he would hardly regret having the proper answer. Especially when it had come on the heels of such a lovely set of reactions. Whatever Emizel had said had been the truth, and one he hadn't wanted to share either. Better still, both were facts he could and would use. Why else would he have bothered to learn?
no subject
"... Sure I found him," Emizel tried to say with the straightest face he could. Although the initial hesitation and that poor shaking flame might be betraying him.
no subject
"Is that so?"
no subject

"Your heart betrays you. I can see it now. You have accomplished nothing."
no subject
Emizel did nothing but back away. With the facade destroyed he was nothing but a frightened little boy, what he truly was.

After all, for all that the other worlds were present, none of them held the strength to find someone. That was something that could only be earned or granted, and while Ansem would be willing to grant it there was still the matter of what would come next. He had certainly knocked down a facade, but that alone was not desperation. Not yet.

It might not be likely, but there was little harm in offering the suggestion. He had no true need for Emizel. Merely an interest in what might yet come to be and how far he could push things in this particular matter. Anything else was simply a convenient bonus.

Of course, that would be a futile gesture indeed, but he wouldn't stop Emizel from making the attempt if he so desired. It would only draw him closer to failure and so closer to that which he would eventually offer.

"... I will find him, one way or another." Be that way light or dark, although in darkness he would probably strive. It was a demon's natural element after all, a natural resistance should also be expected. Nothing really to fear from darkness itself but some things that could also wield it, and do it better.
no subject
"I wish you luck in your search, then. For now, I believe we both have other places to be."

"Then I shall see you later," Ansem commented, before turning and walking back out into the field.
