Not Alone [Active/Open]

Content: As Riku looks for baddies to clean up, Kairi insists she helps.
Setting: Promenade Terrace
Time: Early evening, Week 38
Warnings: None

The last Unversed fell quickly. At least they'd all been small so far. Promenade Terrace was attracting some unwanted attention, surely from the amount of people simply living there. Between Heartless being attracted to their hearts or Unversed for whatever reasons they had, it was at least keeping Riku busy today. Between bouncing back and forth trying to explore and keep things somewhat in check in Paixao, he felt almost as if he were out in the worlds again. The difference was this time he had a base - a warm bed rather than the grass he often found himself lying in.

Another difference was at the end of the day, there were friends nearby.

There was actually a friend nearby right now. Just a little ways away from where Riku had slain that Unversed, Kairi was watching the battles unfold. She was completely disregarding the warning to stay at home and stay safe. She had said it before, she wasn't going to be left behind anymore. Kairi wanted to learn to fight, to keep people safe.

So as soon as the scene was clear, Kairi looked left and right to make sure nothing else was sneaking out from the shadows before she started towards her friend. She knew she could count on Riku to teach her if she asked.

"Riku!" she called, lifting a hand into the air to catch his attention.

"Kairi?" Riku looked around, checking to see if the coast really was clear before he approached her, eyes narrowed in concern. He still kept his Keyblade out, unwilling to let his guard down.

"Kairi, you shouldn't be here. Heartless and Unversed are in the area." Riku still glanced behind himself.

As he approached, Kairi put a hand on her hip, cocking her head to the side. "I know that, Riku. But I'm not leaving, I want to help you fight." In her other hand, she willed Destiny's Embrace to appear. Once the key flashed into view, she smiled.

"See? I won't get in the way, I just want to learn to use this better."

"And Sora and I just want to see you safe. The last thing Sora and I want is to see you kidnapped again, hurt, or worse." Though his words were firm, they were more matter-of-fact than scolding. Kairi was one of the closest friends he'd ever had, and as such he knew when she had something on her mind, it was very hard to convince her otherwise. She was stubborn, but neither of the boys could talk much, either.

And so he simply gave her a concerned look.

That look was one she knew all too well, but she wasn't going to let it sway her from her resolve. "Fine, then none of those things will happen, okay?" She smiled and gave a firm nod, as if that would solve everything for them.

"Now where to?"

Riku rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Sora's gonna kill me," he muttered.

"Anywhere that needs it. I've been scouring the area looking for Heartless, Unversed, or any hostile Lumens." He leaned the blade of his weapon over his shoulder. "I'd teach you Reflect if I knew it. But you know Cure... Right?" He honestly wasn't sure if she knew any spells at all. And though Reflect would be a good one for her to know, he'd always relied on his Dark Shield instead, something a Princess of Heart could never use.
