Warning, healing spells cannot cure embarrassment [Active/Closed]

Character(s): Priere, Laharl
Content: Laharl finds Priere training in the Netherworld. Boss fight ensues.
Setting: Netherworld
Time: Early afternoon
Warnings: Chest size, I mean… DISGAEA

Finally, the act of cleaning her apartment paid off. Well okay, ‘cleaning’ might not have been the right word; it was more like “randomly toss everything in a big pile until you find what you’re looking for”. In any case, Priere had managed to find her brother’s old backpack that he had left behind after he disappeared back home and the magical staves he carried in it.

Magic wasn’t really hard to learn where she came from. It was simply a matter of having enough magical “elements” on yourself and you would be able to cast the related spells. Use it enough and you would learn that magic permanently. It was a simple process really… just… very boring, which was part of the reasons she never really bothered with learning magic beyond some wind and fire she mixed up in her attacks or her own miracle version of Espoir. That and she simply didn’t really need magic to fight.

But now that she found herself with no one to heal her in battle… it was starting to become a problem, especially in light of her last fight with the crazy lioness.

So, she grabbed her brother’s staves and headed to the fields in the Netherworld. Finding a seemingly abandoned corner, she picked up one of the staves, glanced around one more time to check that no one was there, and finally raised the staff over her head.

“… heal!” She said as the spell took form and washed over her.

“Heal!”

“Heal…”

Oh yeah… this was going to take a while.

"Why kill someone who might be useful to me?" Laharl asked her, almost baffled now. Her idea of demons always confused him. What was their problems? Didn't they have better things to do? Laharl wouldn't waste his time trying to destroy humans. Hell, if he did that, they wouldn't have any prinnies anymore. It'd upset the whole flow of, well, everything.

"Take it however you like," was Laharl's answer. He then shrugged slightly. "Not sure yet, but I'll think of something," he replied. Truthfully he wasn't sure yet at all what to do with her. While it might be fun to order her around like Gordon, he wasn't sure he could get away with that what with his parents around--and he had a feeling cleaning and cooking wasn't her forte.

She could fight though, and that was something.

"Actually," he began, a thought coming to mind. "I'll tell you what your job is."

"Not that I'm saying that this'll happen, because it's not likely, but..."

He paused, trying to think how best to say it. He knew it was a weird request, but with Etna gone, as well as many of the others who'd come and gone who he might've trusted...

Then again, this was just going to sound stupid.

"...Forget it. I'll figure something else out."

"T-tch... No," he responded, a little hesitantly. Realizing he was making it all the more apparent it was him, not her.

"Just..."

He paused, clamping his mouth shut and turned partially away for a moment as he was apparently thinking. After a few long moments, he finally spoke up, "If... something happens to my old man or me, I need someone who can keep... keep my mother and Flonne safe."

He cringed a little at her words. "W-well, it's not like I have many I could ask to begin with, what with people always vanishing on me," he spluttered, even more embarrassed now.

"Besides, I-I'm not asking! It's an order," Laharl said suddenly, as the idea had pretty clearly only just came to him. It was pretty obvious, however, he was just trying to save face at this point; even he knew the moment he said it, it wasn't terribly convincing at this point.

"R-Right," he confirmed, though was certain she hadn't believed it. Oh well, whatever. As embarrassed as he was of the request, he didn't really regret it. Even if his mother could handle herself, there were very powerful people here. He didn't really want to take any chances.

"If I think of something else, I'll tell you," he then added, seeming like he was ready to make a hasty exit at this point.

Geez, it was like having Etna around already.

She only got grunt in reply, as he headed back towards the castle, leaving her to go back to her healing spell stuff.
