We Got Nothing Figured Out [Active/Closed]
Character(s): Dagger and Zidane
Content: After this post, Dagger goes to find Zidane. Both could use a little comfort at the moment.
Setting: The park
Time: Week 37
Warnings: Fluff?
Shortly after clicking her journal shut, Dagger put the device away and was out of her bedroom within seconds. Her long, dark hair streamed behind her as she rushed down the stairs and out to the park. She knew there was really no reason to rush, but she couldn't help feeling like both her and Zidane needed each other right now. And she did not want to keep him waiting.
She accidentally bumped into a few people along the way, calling back her apologies as she scuttled past them. The heels of her boots clicked rhythmically on the ground until she finally found herself at the park, chest rising and falling rapidly as she tried to catch her breath.
Finally composing herself, Dagger tucked stray strands of hair back behind her ears and began to look around. It was only a matter of time before she found him, so she approached quietly until she was standing beside him. Instead of saying anything, she just tilted her head so she could look at his face and see if he was all right.

Come on. He really thought he'd finally been cut a bit of a break, only to have that come back. As if he needed a reminder. The nightmares had been enough. And to have Dagger see it... Hell, to have Kuja see it (and Zidane still wasn't sure what the other genome thought of it, but he wasn't sure he wanted to know, and it wasn't like he was going to get a straight answer anyway).
His attention snapped up at Daggers arrival, surprised, even though he knew she was on her way. She really didn't keep him waiting, huh?
He unfolded from his position, standing up and giving her a small twitch of a smile. "Hey," he offered in greeting. He hadn't really thought about what to say. 'Hey, yeah, I got experimented on. It kind of sucked, but don't worry about it.'
Sure. That'd go over well. He held back a sigh.

The young queen did not know who it was who had advertised the research, but if she ever found him or her, that person would receive the business end of her summoning rod.
Instead of replying, Dagger looked the boy straight in the eyes, and then opened her arms up to him.

You almost happened to her, an echo of nightmares coolly reminded him. He shoved the thought down deep, wrapped his arms around her neck and pulled her close, for both their sakes.

Her cheek rested lightly against the front of his shoulder, the snow that gotten caught in her hair on the way here was melting against the fabric of his clothing. She didn't mind though.
After several moments of silence, she finally spoke. "I'm always here for you."

He squeezed her a little more.
"You're stuck with me, too," he said, trying to add a little cheer in his voice, but it wasn't as strong as he would have liked. He would talk, if she wanted him to. But he... hoped she wouldn't. The report's words twisted through his mind.
"and instead gained powers not unlike those of the Heartless."
"POSSIBLE FUTURE EXPERIMENTS: Further injections of darkness."
...would they come for him again, someday? Dammit. He shouldn't worry about it. Shouldn't think about it, it wouldn't help anything. It was only because of the nightmares that his mind was so focused on the whole thing.

At the moment, she did not want him to tell her what had happened. It must have been awful, and not an experience she at all wanted to make him relive. All she wanted was for him to feel better, to be as cheerful as usual. She knew it wouldn't be instantaneous, but she had to do her best.
"Can I do anything for you?"

But... it still wasn't something he could ask of her, not completely. "Not... not by yourself, anyway. Not without me!" Please don't go without him, he wouldn't be able to bare it. But he knew he'd go after them himself, eventually, and having her by his side might just be enough to keep everything together. They might be able to use them against each other, but still, either way, they were better together than apart.

"I won't do anything on my own. If we take on this Organization, we will do it together. I promise." She reached up to pat his cheek in reassurance. "So don't you go off without me, either, all right?"

If Zidane was a bird, he'd be puffing out his feathers. Instead, he simply brightens and tries to look stronger, like some ass hadn't just tried to rip apart his heart by posting that report to the message board. Jeez, who did something like that, for everyone to see? Oh, right, half the jerks in the city. Zidane would've been fine if it was just a private message to him - okay, maybe not fine, but better - but the fact that others had to see it... it just made him mad.
