The Beginning [closed]
Character(s): Agrias
Content: Entering Paixao through Vanaheim
Setting: Vanaheim
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: None
The more she thought about it, the less Agrias understood how she got there, standing in a long, quite unorganized line of people waiting to go through the Gate. At first she thought she was either dead or dreaming, but not long after suddenly finding herself standing beyond the giant dome, she concluded that she was both very much awake and alive.
As she waited, she didn't have much else to do but stare at the Gate. Two giant trees, curving toward each other to form an arc. As she neared the front of the long line, the details of the Gate became clearer, and she found that they weren't real, though she couldn't yet tell what they were made of.
After a good, long wait, she finally turned her gaze from the Gate to the man at the booth near it.
"Excuse me, sir, but can you tell me where--"
"Name?" the man said, cutting her off with a question of his own.
"Agrias Oaks." she replied to him, deciding not to pursue the matter of where she was any further-- this man didn't seem like he would be much help at all, and there had to be someone else inside the city she could ask instead, and hopefully could also tell her how to get back to Ivalice.
Immediately after answering the man, she was given a small black box and was instructed to go through the Gate and into the city. As she passed through it, she slowed down significantly to get a better look at it. 'It's made of glass...' she thought. 'Incredible.'
Agrias sped up again once she noticed she was walking slowly enough for the person who was behind her to pass her up.
"...Charming." she muttered quietly as she entered the city. The fairytale-like decor wasn't so bad, but it wasn't exactly her choice of decor, either.
After exploring for only a short while, she decided to examine the small black box given to her at the Gate. She opened it, and raised her eyebrow slightly; she'd never seen anything like it before. She stared at the keys for a few moments before finding and pressing the "on" button. She was slightly startled when the screen lit up, giving a short explaination of what it was.
"A journal...?" she blinked, wondering why she was given one at the Gate. 'But if they were handing them out, I guess they must be important...' she concluded. Slowly but surely she figured out how to use the electronic journal, and she started to type on the small keyboard.
Part of her felt bad for not immediately trying to find a way back, since it felt like she was abandoning her duty to protect the Royal Family...
...but the other part of her really hated that old, dreary, boring monastery, anyway.
