The Smith-Mage and Glass Dragon [Closed/Solo]
Character(s): Daja
Content: Daja shows up in Paixao with Chime in tow. Chime's new form causes Daja to spaz and Daja flat-out refuses to take the journal.
Setting: Muspelheim
Time: Saturday Afternoon
Warnings: ...Chime is naked and totally clear. Daja swears in Tradertalk occasionally.
Daja had been taking a nap with Chime, who had just recently been fed. Both the smith-mage and glass dragon had decided it was high time to sleep, as it was past midnight and Daja had been up since before midday, working on a living metal creation. The black girl sat up, feeling the abrupt lack of her siblings, even in her sleep. Of course, it didn't help that there was something large and clear on her. Chime wasn't that heavy, and yet...
There was nothing else that could look like that and not be Chime. Oti log it, she even had that same bluegreen coloring agent in her stomach! ...But Chime was... less like a dragon. Still made of glass, it seemed, because Chime was cold to the touch, and she was transparent. "...Chime?" Daja asked. "Get off of me. ...You're a lot heavier than you think you are." The oddly-shaped... human?-like Chime got on all fours, peering up at Daja, then inspecting herself.
"...Chime, something's really not right," Daja offered, thinking. Solving problems of magic not in the realm of what Daja worked with was more Tris's thing than Daja's, but Tris was also more... emotionally out there. Chime voiced a low note, tilting her head. "...Chime, get up." ...Of course, Daja wasn't expecting Chime to try climbing on her. "Chime!!" Ow, ow, ow, Chime definatley still had claws. "Get off of me, you're too big for that!" Chime voiced another note, ovbiously displeased, still sitting on all fours.
Okay. How was Daja going to explain this to Chime in words she'd understand? "Chime, you've kinda changed." Daja could've sworn the glass dragon was giving her a 'no shit' look. "You can walk on two legs, now." Chime paused, slowly rising to two feet. She looked at her arms, then tilted her head in a clear expression of 'well, what do I do with these?'
"Just... stay close to me, okay, Chime?" Chime made a noise that Daja hoped was an affirmative. That dealt with, (for now, Daja would have to figure things out at a later time, when it wasn't quite so cold and quite so unsettling to suddenly not be in the presence of her saati) Daja looked around. She frowned, twirling the staff she even slept with. It was a familiar weight that Daja thought of, usually, only in terms of the brass caps on either end, not the ebony that made up the majority of it.
And that's when Chime, true to her nature, took off to go inspect the gold flames making up the gate. Daja followed, yelling after the glass dragon.
"CHIME!" If the blonde-haired, blue-eyed kaqs raised a fuss, Daja paid them no mind. ...At least until she'd gotten to the gate. Chime had stopped, happy enough to stare.
"Welcome to Paixao. Name?"
"Daja Kisubo," Daja replied almost automatically. Paixao? Daja wondered, making a thoughtful face. She scowled as the kaq manning the gate offered her something. "I'm not taking that. I'm not going to owe you."
That said, Daja went on her merry way, Chime following. ...When had Chime decided to carry her tail in one hand, anyway? Daja shook her head, chuckling a little at the oddity of it all.
Maybe it was just a bad dream caused by working too much, too long.
