I’ll Stay Tonight If It’ll Make You Feel Alright [Completed]
Character(s): Woody and Tinkerbell
Content: After finding out Tinkerbell was having a nightmare too, Woody goes to comfort her.
Setting: Sora’s Room
Time: Nighttime
Warnings: Bits of angst and heck of lot of cuteness
A sigh escaped from Woody’s plastic lips, as he got down from the windowsill in the living room. He was staring out that window for a while, it was just moments ago did he wake up from another nightmare. He’s been having too many recently, and it’s been keeping him up all night. If one were to talk to Woody, they could tell he was tired, certainly by the sound of his cracked voice. Though he tried his very best to hide it anyway, he didn’t want anyone worrying about him. After all he still has his reputation and there are those who still might look up to him. If they see him weak or worn, it would create some problems.
Woody made his way back into Sora’s room, trying his best not to wake the kid up if he was still sleeping, he sneaked in ever so slightly. Climbing into the basket, he turned his attention to the rope as he looked up to where Tinkerbell was, and began to pull the rope so the basket would lift itself upward on the pully-system. He called out in a half-whisper up to Tinkerbell, “Hey! Tink! It’s me Woody! I’m comin’ up.”

He'd really come! She wasn't sure why she thought he wouldn't...maybe because they still didn't know each other very well. And if she were perfectly frank, boys in her life often had a way with forgetting about her existence. This was new territory.
As he joined her on the shelf, she put her hands behind her back and lifted her shoulders up in a slight shrug. "Thanks for coming," she said, an apologetic smile curving her lips.

Just so that Woody wouldn’t have to look down at Tinkerbell the whole time, he walked over to sit in a comfortable spot, patting the spot next to him in case she wanted to join him then decided to put his hands over his rag doll legs. “So what was your dream about? I think I heard you and Timon mention it was somethin’ about Peter.”

She laughed quietly, but even as she lifted her head to smile, tears were in her eyes. "Stupid, huh?"

Woody adjusted in his seat, now looking off to the side himself. “I used to have an owner, Andy… Great kid, we’ve always been kinda close you know, Buzz and I were his favorite toys… Well, he had to grow up and go to college.” He looked down as he now began to hold his arms, “I was afraid he’d forget about me too. He didn’t in fact he was gonna take me to college with him. But I couldn’t leave my friends either… So the last time I saw Andy was when he brought my friends and I to Bonnie’s.”
Giving a small smile as looked back up at Tinkerbell, as he got up on his knee to hold Tinkerbell’s hand, “But you know what, knowing that he really loved me and almost took me with him, even though he was grown up just really made me felt at ease. So Tink, you don’t have to worry, I’m sure if that ever happens he’ll still remember you. I’m sure.”

"What does it matter if he remembers me if we can't be together?" she asked in exasperation, taking her hand away in a huff. Though a part of her knew the wisdom in what he said, the very idea of forever being away from Peter, for real and for true, was too much for her volatile pixie heart right now. She angrily scrubbed away the tears from her eyes. "I'll still be alone!"

“Tinkerbell…” Woody said softly, trying to find words of comfort himself, “You won’t be alone… Girl like you? Nah, ain’t gonna happen. Besides, i-it’s only a dream you know… Peter Pan isn’t ever gonna grow up right? He said so himself, you’ll always will be friends.” He said giving a weak smile. Woody looked down, “I know I wouldn’t know if something were to happen to my friends, like if… Lotso succeeded and… We would of all… At the fault of my own…” His words drifted, as he looked distant, remembering his own dark nightmare.
“N-Nevermind… Dreams are just dreams, it won’t happen alright?” Woody said as he continued to look to side and held himself, trying his best not to show that he himself was upset. What kind of guy is supposed to cheer someone up if they’re not feeling too good themselves after all?

She paused for a moment but then went to his side again, kneeling at his feet and placing her head on his knee, face in her crossed arms. She still didn't want him to see her cry, so she kept her face hidden. "It w-won't happen..." she agreed through her tears. In her own way, she was trying to comfort him too.

"...I wanna go home."

Honestly, that was what Woody’s been wanting since he came here. It hurt more than ever knowing that even the slightest thought of not being able to see his friends again. As he slowly loosened in the hug so he can reach up and gently rub away the tears from her cheek with his thumb. He gave a sad smile to her, “Please… Don’t cry, Tink.”

"Are you okay? I didn't know toys could dream."

Woody rubbed the back of his neck before giving out a sigh and looked back at Tinkerbell, “Don’t be, sometimes we gotta let it all out ya know?” He bit his lip slightly when he said that, knowing that he himself didn’t like sharing emotional stuff, but it’s for his own prideful reasons.
With a shake of a head, Woody placed his hands back over the edges of his belt. “I’m alright I just…” the cowboy sighed, “Too many nightmares… A lotta things going wrong from left and right, some of them seemed real. Or at least… A few were based on… Real stuff but…” Woody started to slowly look down again his hands starting to fold against himself in a half hug. His eyes looked wary as they scanned the ground, looking so lost from his own thoughts about his nightmares. His voice started sound a little hoarse and quieter as he spoke, “I’m fine though really… I’m fine. I’m fine…”

"But that's okay. I don't think anyone really is...not after nightmares like that." She turned away and half-skipped, half-flew over to her little make-shift vanity made out of a small compact mirror and a walnut shell. She lifted up a little glass bead the color of bright summer grass before joining Woody again.
"I found this before all the snow started...I kept it because it reminds me of Peter." Tink laughed a little sheepishly, smiling down at it. "Sometimes I take it out and look at it at night, wondering where he is and if he even knows I'm gone." She paused before folding the little bead over her heart, eyes closed. "I think...our true memories of our friends will help keep the nightmares powerless."

And there with a simple touch, Tinkerbell softened, Woody looked at her hand then back to her as she spoke. He gave a half chuckle in response, “Yea… I ‘spose no one is.”
Woody watched Tinkerbell as retrieved what looked like colorful bead. He gave a small smile and nodded, “I got somethin’ too.” Woody sat back down on a seat and lifted his book to show his old owner’s signature ‘ANDY’. He tapped it, “Reminds me of all the good times I had with him. Plus, all my friends got that name written on them. Bullseye got it on his hooves too, though,” chuckles, “He has make sure it’s spelled right when he holds them up.”
“It’s one way we’re connected I think, we’ve all got history of such great adventures and friendship with that signature,” Woody smiled, “And I’m glad to have met them. You know what though,” he puts his boot back down, “I’m also glad to have met you too, you’re a good friend. You, Sora, and everyone I’ve met here thus far.” He snapped his finger, “Heeey… Hey we should, we should get something, to remember each other! Like uh, uhm…”
Woody started searching his pockets and looked around him, trying to see if he can get something for her. “Aha!” Woody pulled out yellow string from his boot and came over to Tinkerbell, “Something like this I think.” He then put the small string around her wrist as if it were a bracelet and tied a little bow. Woody gave her smile, and rubbed the back of his neck, “Well it’s uh, it’s not much, but it’s a start you know.”

"If you don't mind, I have this..." Almost shyly, she reached down and tied it tightly around Woody's boot. It was simple but hopefully not too girly. Straightening, she brushed her hair from her face and looked away. "S-So now we're friends for life, okay? You better not lose that!"
no subject
“Hey, I promise I’ll hold on to it, no problem,” Woody said grinning, “I’m sure ya ain’t gonna lose mine either.” He held up pinky finger toward Tinkerbell, “Pinky swear on it?”

"Can you, um...can you stay with me tonight?" She lowered her head and linked her hands behind the small of her back, blushing slightly as she scowled. "W-We should stick together! So the nightmares don't bug us!"

Giving a soft smile Woody returned to his spot next to Tinkerbell, “Of course I can Tink,” he gave a little chuckle in return, “Got that right, those nightmares will go away as quick as a tumbleweed in the wind, I’m sure of it.” He held up his yarn string lasso on his belt. “And if they try and get ya, just dream that I’ll round ‘em all up and toss ‘em all the way outta the park!” Woody said as he pretended to wrap up a nightmare with his lasso, giving a chuckle as the string came back to him. He then wrapped the yarn string up again as he looked down.
“Besides that though, I think you’re right,” Woody said tipping his hat over his eyes as he goes to lay down, “As long as we’re together, those darn nightmares are less likely to come and get us.”

Making a face that was confused, Woody’s jaw dropped a bit. Quiet honestly, if toys could have the ability to blush, he would be doing so right now. Woody took off his hat to set it next to the bed, trying to adjust himself in the small bed with Tinkerbell, “I mean well OK but-I’m… I’m a little tall for this-Well I mean I could uh… Here, um…”
Woody was trying so desperately to be a gentleman cowboy about this, as he adjusted himself in the bed with Tinkerbell. Managing to sleep along the edges, well it’s a good thing he’s made of stuffing for this. Honestly Woody could be used as a pillow for Tink at this point. He stretched out his arm around her so she can have some room, “Is this alright? I mean, are you comfortable?”

Already she was dozing, the emotional turmoil of the night catching up with her.

This warmth and comfort seemed just so familiar, but yet… He didn’t seem to mind. Woody gave a small smile down at Tink before closing his eyes. Slowly letting himself fall back to sleep, this time, he won’t let the nightmares come near. Only sweet dreams.
