Froooosty the Unversed~! [Completed]

Hope hadn't expected all the snow to come out of nowhere, and definitely to to come so fast and start falling so hard, but he was gonna make the most of it while he could. Snow wasn't a very common thing on Cocoon, or in Palumpolum, so he never really got a chance to play in it when he was a kid. This prompted him to pick a day to go outside and build a snowman.

Thanks to being a l'Cie, the cold really didn't affect him all that much, so he didn't have to bundle up or anything. In no time at all he had three big snowballs stacked on top of each other, and he was shaping arms on its sides.

The other thing Hope wasn't expecting was for a flaming red Unversed to appear out of nowhere and plow right through his snowman's head.

The Onion Knight had long ago learned to ignore harsher weather conditions, at least when he was in the middle of a fight like this. The knight had been chasing the Unversed for a while now, trying to corner the things so he could deal with them better.

The Knight skidded down the snowy streets just in time to see the Unversed plowing through an unsuspecting snowman.

"Hey, I spent an hour on that!" Not wasting any time, Hope pulled out his boomerang and tossed a Blizzara at the red monster, followed quickly by two Fire spells.

The Onion Knight had been chasing those things for who know's how long, he wasn't about to let someone else get the kill on them. The Knight launched into a Blizzard-Blizzaga combo, targeting the fiery ones.

As always, more appeared right after the first, meaning that even though Hope had taken out the one he'd been aiming for, there were others waiting to get hit by the spells the stranger had thrown. If Hope hadn't seen other people using magic here already he would've been worried, abut as it was he was just thankful.

A rapid set of Blizzards followed by a Blizzara took out another of the Unversed just as quickly as the first.

The Knight didn't have to watch the other boy fighting for too long to get the feeling that he probably wasn't a melee fighter. So the Knight changed his tactics for now. He leapt at a group of them, attacking them with short, fast slashes of his sword.

Backup was always something Hope was better at anyway. He focused for a moment, then threw Protect and Shell up on the other boy and himself, before jumping back and focusing a moment longer and throwing out another set of Blizzard spells, these ones meant to hamper the Unversed and make it harder for them to react--and easier to kill.

The Onion Knight summoned down a rain of sword shaped beams of energy, taking out the group of Unversed that he had cornered with the previous attack.

When he landed on the ground he casted a strength boosting spell, and looked back at the other boy. "How many else are there?"

"These things like to just keep coming!" Hope yelled back, now finding himself bracing against the wind. "Just keep fighting them, I'll keep you going!"

Of course, if it took too long this was just going to get boring, and if much stronger Unversed started to show up it would become exhausting. But with any luck these were the only ones around today. More Blizzard spells arced over the other boy's head and struck the targets, one of them even becoming encased in a block of ice.

"T-They'll have to stop eventually!"

The Knight paused to re-evaluate the situation, maybe it would be easier if he brought out the big guns, as it were. He concentrated for a moment, and in a flash of light, his regular armor was replaced by his Sage's robes. He then casted Flare at another group of enemies. Hopefully they could take them out before he had to resort to Holy or Meteor.

Hope had to stop for a second to watch the effect of that spell. The only time he'd ever seen something so powerful before was from a fal'Cie. But he shook his head clear and threw more Blizzards and a Blizzara into the midst of the Unversed, after watching that massive fire spell take out a huge swath of them in no time at all.

Still reluctant to use the most powerful spells he had, the Knight launched a barrage of Comets at the Unversed, taking out the ones the fire spell had missed.

That, finally, got the last of them. Hope closed his mouth when he realized his jaw was agape, and ran over to the boy who helped him.

"Thanks," he said, holding out his hand for a handshake.

"I could say the same," The Knight replied and he shook the other boy's hand. The Knight was used to fighting mostly alone, so having someone to help did make it easier.

"My name's Hope," the l'Cie said as he loosened his grip.

"It's nice to meet you, Hope," He replied, hoping the conversation would be steered to another topic.

"...You're not gonna tell me what your name is?" Hope noticed the blatant attempt to steer clear of it, but he at least wanted something to call the guy.

"Everyone just calls me 'The Onion Knight'," There, Hope had something to call him, let's hope he didn't call into question why he was avoiding introducing himself.

As much as Hope wondered why his new friend wasn't giving him his name, he'd never gotten that out of Lightning at first, either. It had taken a long time before she told him why she'd chosen that name, and even then she never said what her real name even was.

"Nice to meet you," Hope said.

"So what were those things?" Monsters, obviously, but they weren't like anything he had seen before. While he was saying this, his Sage robes were replaced by his regular armor in another flash of light.

"I dunno, but I've had to fight them before. They're not like any monsters I ever ran into on Cocoon." Hope had never even imagined monsters like these things, though they definitely paled in comparison to Cie'th.

The Knight hummed lightly as he considered what the other by was saying and his eyes trailed off to the pile of snow that used to be a snowman. "Oh... do you wanna try to fix that?"

After a second Hope's eyes followed the Onion Knight's. "You wanna help?"

"Well... I've got nothing better to do," He replied, grinning up at the other boy. The Knight then turned his attention to fixing the snowman with Hope.
