Tonight and the Rest of My Life (Active / Closed)

Character(s): Yuna and Tidus
Content: Nightmares and a talk
Setting: Iriela Apartments
Time: Late night, Week 36
Warnings: Nightmares D8

Yuna had never experienced nightmares like this before. First she'd dreamed of all the times she'd had to destroy her aeons, her friends, sending the human one and killing the aeon ones... and now she was experiencing the loss of something else, something far more dear to her. He was there, right there, and yet she could do nothing but watch.

"After this fight... I'll disappear!"

His words rang in her ears as she threw herself forward, trying to touch him and assure herself that he wasn't going anywhere. But instead of holding onto him, she went right through him, collapsing on the airship's deck with a thump that made their friends gasp in horror. When she stood up, tears were flowing down her cheeks. This couldn't be happening. She'd destroyed Sin so no one would have to be sacrificed ever again for the peace of Spira.

And in doing so, she'd sacrificed the life of the person who meant the most to her.

She wasn't aware of waking up, or how much she was crying. All Yuna knew was the pain she felt and the worry that she would lose him a third time.

He closed his eyes, just for a second, and let himself focus on the feel of her hand on his face. It felt real...just as real as anything else ever had.

For a moment, he wondered if he felt that real to her.

Then he opened his eyes, trying to smile again.

"I'm not going anywhere. Not if I can help it." And every part of him desperately wanted to omit that second sentence, but he couldn't. Try as he might to convince himself otherwise, he couldn't be sure of anything.

More importantly, even if he did disappear again, he just hoped that Yuna would be safe. After everything that had happened, she deserved the chance to live a happy life. That dream just made him grateful that she was there and okay.

But right now, thinking about that stuff didn't do him any good. He still had to worry about helping her feel better.

"I mean...I seem real enough, right?" Though it was meant to be more of a reassurance then a question, he still wondered what she would say.
