Until You’re Resting Here With Me [Active]

Character(s): Wolf and Blue
Content: Two of the last wolves in Paixao meet-up.
Setting: The WildKat Coffee and possible other places
Time: Sunset
Warnings: Comfort, some angst, prepare for tissues.

Lost… Lost… Lost so many. Wolf sat there staring at his cup of coffee. He was sitting where Remus and him used to sit. He remembered how he used to get tea. He was rather fond of that. Wolf gave a slight chuckle to himself, but still felt rather lonely sitting there by himself without his friend’s presence. Honestly, there were a lot of folks he came close to while he was here, but have disappeared so suddenly. Having someone as close as Remus gone just made his heart drop. Back in his world, he was a lone wolf. Wolf didn’t have that many others like him that were his friends. To make one was a good sign for him, but like Remus and many others he met here, gone without a trace.

Then there was Blue, she was the only wolf besides himself that was left. Wolf breathed in, rubbing his thumb against the ceramic of the mug, at least there was that. For a moment he scratched the side of his ear, before putting his hand back underneath his chin as he looked out the window, waiting for dear Blue to show up so they can try to search once more for their friend.

Blue didn't keep him waiting long. She took a few minutes to collect herself before setting off, not slowed by the city's change in weather - it was far too familiar to home. One quick look at her map and she knew where he was heading, not stopping along the way for anything. She... didn't want to be alone right now. She was afraid that if she was, the last connections to people that she had would slip from her grasp.

It seemed to be happening a lot lately.

The half-breed slipped to a halt before WildKat's, her illusion sliding over her features as she opened the door and walked in, suddenly glad for the warmth. She stepped over to where he sat and sat down besides him.

"Hi," she said quietly. She bundled down to collect her warmth. "I was... almost expecting you not to be here. It would be my luck." She's glad he was.

She sank down a bit more in the seat, pleased more than she could get across for his presence. They really needed one another at this point. It was like... they were the only ones left. Blue knew that wasn't completely true, she had others that she still felt connected to in the city, but...

"Positive. Right." Positive thinking. She had to try. "It's piling up pretty bad, and it hasn't slowed down. I've never seen anything like it. But... it's still manageable enough, for now." She kept the 'not sure for how long' out of her words. Positive. Positive... She sighed, failing. "I kept hoping it would stop, or even lighten up. I've been mostly living in that park, but now..." She couldn't. It was too cold. Too much snow to be liveable.

Her first instinct was to push him away - a light shove, she could even roll her eyes at him - but she doesn't. There's still the quiet, distant sadness in her that misses Hige; there's still that part of her fostering hope that he will find his way to Paixao, even if he belonged with Paradise.

But Blue has been in Paixao for... such a long time now. It's been a long time since she's had much other contact, and she lets herself be at ease by it.

"Well, it was nice before the snow came," she said quietly, lips quirking at an edge. And then at his suggestion she looked to him with surprise. "What? But - do you have the room?" She didn't want to impose...

After a moment she gave a nod, and then a small smile began to form. "Yeah, alright." And speaking of Remus... Blue sighed and looked out towards the falling snow. "We should start searching." Even though they've both already looked... Blue doesn't want to give up.

She slides out after him, hands hiding in her pockets to keep warm and sighing at the falling snow. Would it ever stop? At least she had somewhere to stay now, but still... It was beginning to remind her of home, of that snow covered wasteland that her and the wolves had traveled.

Blue tilts her head towards him, listening, more focused on Wolf describing what Remus liked instead of where to look. She wished she could have gotten to know Remus better before... this. She wished she could have found out why he had a similar smell to her and Wolf.

"That sounds reasonable," she says softly.

Her illusion drops as she digs around through the snow more, like Wolf trying to find a scent, but she huffs quietly with little luck, and peers back up at him with her canine eyes as though hoping he may lead.

Wolf's comment strikes her hard, harder than she was expecting, and she lowers her head sadly in remembrance. The illusion slides back into place as she steps alongside him. "There's nothing in this city about the history. I had a friend that also tried to find it once." He was gone.

She shakes herself out of it, sniffing at the air, taking another step up and looking around for any signs, no matter how faint they may be.

Wolf looked back at Blue, his eyes gazed at her. Trying to look into hers. Oh he can sense it already, that uneasy feeling. Wolf walked a little closer to her as he walked inside with her. “Nothing huh? Grrf, huff puff, that’s just typical for Paixao,” he said in some disgust of the city. It was mostly in what he saw from what was around and what the mayor was doing didn’t seem to be helping much. If it weren’t one mystery, it’s another.

Sniffing the air, Wolf tried investigating some of the aisles, trying to look everywhere he could. He glanced over at Blue, as he tried bent down to sniff the ground, “Any luck?”

She takes the next aisle, running a hand along the bindings of the books, peering at the titles, starting to pick one off the shelf, but decided against it and pushed it back into place. The library seemed quiet. She wondered how many people were staying home, just trying to stay warm. She shivers a little herself.

The scents in the library were varied. Wolf's was, of course, the easiest to pick up. There were fainter ones. Citizens, probably. But nothing familiar. Nothing that gave Blue that quizzical feeling of when she first met Remus.

She slides around to the next aisle, getting further away from Wolf, as though maybe the distance would help her pick up Remus' better. It doesn't. She frowns. Would he have left the city? Could the fields have disguised his scent? Maybe the lumens -?

Blue sighs. She peruses more of the library, asking the woman at the counter if she's seen someone of Remus' description recently. After a bit longer, she returns to Wolf and tries to smile, but the edges are sad.

"Nothing. How about you?"

Wolf started to look through the books himself in quiet observation as he tried sniff out any sort of hint that Remus was still here. Looking out the window at the snow as Wolf continued his way along the aisles in search. He gave out a sigh as he looked out, it’d just had to be cold and snowy didn’t it? Well at least it wasn’t raining, that would have been worse for picking up scents.

As soon as Blue returned to Wolf’s side, he shook his head softly, “No sadly, I couldn’t,” Wolf spoke, his eyes then looked down at the ground. Hope seemed to be dwindling on a fine thread here. Giving a small forced smile to Blue as he looked back up at her, “It’s alright… Maybe if we’re lucky he’ll show up later. Paixao has a weird sense of people coming and going. Perhaps one day he’ll come back to us and we’ll all be together again. As a pack.”

Wait, the p-a-c-k word. Wolf always knew he had to be careful saying it growing up, what with wolves being so sought out to be killed back home, most wolves didn’t want to be in packs. Scratching the back of his neck, as he tried to get rid of the lump in throat, “That is… It at least felt like pack when we were together… All three of us, did you, did you get that feeling too?” Wolf asked, though hesitantly, as if he might have been hoping for a little too much here.

Lucky for him, Blue isn't at all offended by his comment. In fact, her eyes light up with amusement. "Yeah, I know what you mean. I wish I could have introduced you to the guys that were here, that came from my home. All five of us," she laughs, "the wolves of Paixao."

Now Toboe, Tsume, and Remus were all gone without a trace. It happened to Blue so much that she'd almost grown accustomed to people disappearing from her. But, Wolf was still here. And those two Doctors. That was something.

She turns to grin at him. "If we ever see them again, we'll just have to welcome them back and berate them for worrying us, hm? For now... well..." Her gaze shifts. "I doubt the snow is getting any better."

Wolf gave a smile at that, he knew there were a few others that were here before. It’s too bad they didn’t stay here long. But… Guess that’s what happened to Remus as well. He gave a little chuckle in return, “I like that title!”

Giving a solemn nod, “Awwwooo, seems so, maybe one day we’ll see them again…” Wolf took his glance from snow back to Blue with a soft smile, “At least we’re still here together.”

In a brief moment of thought, Wolf reached out his hand to hold Blue’s, “Come on… Let’s go home.”

"I have no intention of disappearing anytime soon," she says, focusing a moment before accepting his hand, feeling a little strange about it, but he was one of the few friends she still had in this city, and she wasn't about to put that distance between them. Of course she probably wouldn't have a choice about disappearing or not, but she wanted to be in Paixao. She didn't want to go home like many did.

She couldn't, in fact.

"Alright," she agrees. "Lead the way."

Wolf noticed this, the shift made him realize that this was no ordinary enchantment. Which let him raise a brow, but decided it best left unquestioned for now. Wolf took in a breathe as brought his hand back to hold his own, looking down at it, giving a sigh. He gave a nod and led the way for him and Blue out of the library. He smiled at her, “I can make us some good bacon sandwiches once we get home, luckily I kept a good supply of it. I should have a nice warm extra blanket or two too.”
halvedhowl: (Human - smug)

Food sounded good, and warmth sounded ideal with how much she's been out in the cold. Add a friend to the mix? Even better.

"That'll be a luxury," she replies with a small smirk, though she's truthful in the comment.
scentacrosstime: (Whatever)

Wolf gives a good-hearted chuckle as they led the way through the snow. “I’m sure we’ll think of something. That stove I got back home s’gotta be good for something,” Wolf said with a goofy grin. Giving grrf, he scratched his away at the back of his ear, and shakes off some of the snow that was piling up on his head as they walked. “At least we’ll be able to watch the snow than be in it.”
halvedhowl: (Human - sheesh...)

[personal profile] halvedhowl 2012-04-19 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think I've spent enough time being in snow, so that sounds like a plan to me." Between Paixao and back home, Blue wouldn't mind doing something so simple as watching it. "Where do you live?" she asks, though without pulling out her journal, she wasn't so sure she'd recognize it. Names were sometimes hard, especially the ones in this city.
scentacrosstime: (Oh Yah I Know)

[personal profile] scentacrosstime 2012-04-20 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
“Grrrf, yea, I’ve had enough of the snow to last me,” Wolf grumbled. Looking back at Blue he gave a simple smile, “Oh I live in the Iriela Apartments. It’s not too far from here,” he said as he continued to lead the way. Pretty comfortable place, though he’s pretty sure Remus was the one who was the most tidy when he was still around. Hopefully it won’t be too messy. Wondering outloud Wolf muttered to himself, “I think it’s clean…”

[personal profile] halvedhowl 2012-06-04 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Her ears pick up on his muttered comment easily though. "Even if it's not, I'm sure I've seen - and smelled - worse," she replies, a half grin on her face and a small laugh. She wasn't about to clean it if it was a mess, though. Actually, she's probably make him clean it... but that's besides the point. A home was a home.

Wolf shared the little laugh with Blue, as he rubbed the back of his neck. Giving a nod, “I’ve seen some places in worse condition, so I certainly know what you mean there.” Honestly, the worst he’s seen he pretty sure was trying to sneak around was some place where trolls were living.

Soon enough they arrived at the Iriela Apartments. Wolf led the way for the both of them up to his apartment. Reaching in his pockets he took out the key to open the door for them both. Letting Blue enter first, he smiled toward her, “Welcome~ To my humble den~.”

It wasn’t too messy, a blanket or two was lying clumsy on the couch. And there were some empty cups of tea lying around. But the place seemed pretty cozy enough. There certainly was enough pillow space.

For someone who had been living around the streets of Paixao, and more often than not the park, Blue found the apartment to be a breath of fresh air, not to mention the warmth that was finally allowed to settle into her bones and stay was a blessing. She breathes in the smells, picking up the dregs of tea, the scent of Wolf and the lingering remnants of Remus. It was... nice.

She remains near the entrance though, feeling a bit like an intruder despite that she'd been invited. Wolves of Paixao gotta stick together, right? Still.

"Do I get a tour?" she asks. She isn't expecting much, though it would be good to know what would be considered "her room."

After closing the door behind them, Wolf made his way to go ahead and pick up some of the empty cups and one or two plates that were left out. He glanced back as he gave a nod, “Sure, follow me. This here’s the living room, and here… Where I’m putting these dish things is the kitchen, as you may have guessed.”

Wolf gave a clever smirk as put some of the cups and plates in the sink. And opened the fridge, “Where the bacon is stored.” He then moved out toward the hallway, opening the first room on the left. “This is my room, here, grrrf bed needs to be made I’m afraid,” Wolf pointed to his right as he went down the hall, “Bathroom, annnd, here at the end is Remus’ room. I’m sure he won’t mind you staying there.”
