It Starts... (Open)

Character(s): Rainbow Dash, Anyone?
Content: A pegasus in Paixao.
Setting: Near Joutenheim
Time: Afternoon; Week 35
Warnings: Awesome.

Rainbow Dash flew into the air in the domes, the device given to her by the guards at the gate hanging around her neck. She stared down at the ground, examining the two legged creatures that were still staring up at her. Hanging at that altitude for a minute, she took in her surroundings. Sure, she'd already caused a scene at the gate, being a solo four legged creature in the lines....and at the other one she'd originally been at, flying up over the domes to get to the one she had entered through. She was an aerial pony, did they really expect her to stay on the ground for that long?

She had sped into the domes after 'signing in', flying upward as soon as she had enough room. Now, she realized something that bothered her a bit, although no one looking at her would realize that there was anything wrong.

She was the only pony she could see in this place...Everyone else in this place was a light haired, two legged...something. Something Rainbow Dash had never seen before.

And they were all staring at her like she was something strange.

Oh geeze.

Okay, so Cid might have been staring a little. But it wasn't really because it was strange - or at least, not any stranger than half a dozen things he'd seen while following Cloud around - but because he was trying to decide what all he'd have to do to be able to fly like that again. He was pretty sure he wasn't going to turn himself into a technicolor... whatever that was to do it, but at least he knew that it wasn't like the place kept everyone out of the skies.

He just had to figure out the last couple of things, and then he could get to building, even if he would have to do most of it outside the domes.

So it talked too. Good to know, even it it did knock the whole situation up a few notches on his mental calculation of just how weird this was. Sure, that was just how the damned place ran, half the time, but that didn't mean he couldn't recognize the strangeness for what it was. Hell, he practically owed it to the place, what with everyone getting used to the strangeness and proceeding to not ever mention it again.

"You mean people?" he asked, craning his neck so that he actually see what he was talking to over the edge of the building.

There was a moment of silence from Cid. Had the thing seriously not seen people before? Hell, it wasn't like they were uncommon or anything. All you had to do was get with spitting distance of a city and you'd see all the people you could ever want, even if it was nothing more than a two-bit backwater.

"Of course I am," he answered, as if it ought to have been obvious. "I ain't seen anything else like you though."

Well, that explained the reason the - pony, was it? - hadn't recognized the word for what they were. It was still more than a little odd, but that wasn't ever anything new, here. Hell, it was practically par for the course around here.

"Place is called Paixao," he answered. "More like a prison than a real city if you wanna ask me. Can't even have a proper sky."

Cid hadn't had much of a chance to see the tops of the domes from above, largely due to not yet having a proper ship built, but he had to admit it would make a certain amount of sense for them to not be particularly appealing when seen from above. Keep everyone stuck inside and it didn't matter what the top of something looked like. There wasn't going to be anyone to see the damned thing, more often than not.

"Course there ain't," he answered. "Just rumors about the way out."

[identity profile] limitbreakpilot.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Cid raised his eyebrows at the question about the rumors. Sure, he'd been the one the bring them up, but that didn't mean he really wanted to talk about them. It wasn't like having a potential way out kept the place from being all sorts of strange.

"It's Cid," he answered, choosing to answer the less ridiculous question first. "Cid Highwind."

[identity profile] limitbreakpilot.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"How much do you wanna know?" Cid answered, with a touch of gruffness in his voice. He wasn't entirely against explaining. Ifrit and Bahamut knew he'd been around long enough to know more than enough about the place. He wasn't sure it was really all that exciting, but hell. He could answer well enough.

Even if he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to.

[identity profile] limitbreakpilot.livejournal.com 2011-10-07 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
'Anything he could tell her' was a rather uncomfortable large amount, and while he wouldn't have had much of a problem detailing it, his mind almost immediately corrected what she'd said into 'anything he wanted to tell her'. That was a lot easier to deal with and hell. She could fill in the gaps later.

"You're gonna want to know about the Organization, then. They ain't been doing much later but that doesn't mean you can't know."

[identity profile] limitbreakpilot.livejournal.com 2011-10-08 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
"What the hell aren't they," Cid answered with a snort of irritation. "They're damned creeps if you as me. Used to be they went about kidnapping people for experiments or somethin'. Now a days you don't hear much about 'em. Probably went underground."

Which was most likely because of the Resistance that had gone up in response, but like hell was he going to mention that. Last he'd heard the Resistance had been just as vanished as the Organization and things could stay that way as far as he was concerned. He didn't need to worry about getting snatched off the streets by shadowy figures. Shiva knew he'd seen enough of shadowy figures to last a lifetime.

[identity profile] limitbreakpilot.livejournal.com 2011-10-11 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
It wasn't what anyone wanted to hear, Cid figured. If they'd gone underground it just meant that they'd decided to cover up their trail. It didn't mean anything about them not keeping up with what they'd been doing in the first place. Hell, they could have been doing worse, for all Cid knew.

"Kidnapped people off the damn streets," Cid answered. "I ain't sayin' it again."

[identity profile] limitbreakpilot.livejournal.com 2011-11-01 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"'Cause they're creepy bastards," Cid answered, without even seeming to need to think on the question. "What other reason do they need? It ain't like people get to stop and ask much." Or at least, that was Cid was assuming. He hadn't been kidnapped himself, and most of the heyday of it had been far enough back that the most relevant details had started to get fuzzy.

"Guys in black cloaks, pretty much."
