Well there went her good mood. Priere had really been looking forwards to heading to the newest floor. Hey, she needed something to do, and after the disappointment of failing to find the door in the last level, though being turned into an animal probably didn't help much, she was eager to find something in this one. And, she managed to get Kovu to join her... even if a certain someone didn't sound like he was excited about that fact. This had to change. It was a bit of an odd friendship at time, but she did enjoy his company.

But of course something had to come and ruin it.

She had no idea they were heading in the Netherworld. Oh, that fact wasn't new for her, she's been in the Netherworld, or the Dark World as they called it back home, a lot of times before to the point where it started to look less like the dangerous dimension it was supposed to be and more of a training ground. No, what bugged her was that it was supposed to be the Netherworld of that tiny Overlord, Laharl or something. She still remembered what the kid told her the first time they talked and as much as she just wanted to shrug it off, being told you had the same name and same nearly everything as another demon... just bugged her. Especially considering the other... "oddities" of this world. Nah, it was probably just a fluke, she wouldn't become a demon. So... why was it still bugging her in the back of her mind to go down there in the first place?

Meh, it was probably just due to that Urd woman. She really, really couldn't stand her. For some reason, nearly every time Urd came to talk to her, it was to nag about her doing something apparently wrong. Urgh, it was like having three Alouettes combined into one... nah scratch that, she'd rather hang out with the trio before Urd. Seriously? What was her problem? Couldn't she just mind her own business? Especially with the conversation a few minutes ago...

Argh! Just where the hell was that lion? If this was really a Netherworld, then there were plenty of demons just waiting to get their asses kicked in the name of mood betterment, and she couldn't get to them fast enough.

Kovu took his time to get to the church, since there wasn't any real reason to be in a hurry. Why would he be, anyway? It was just another floor, and who knew if there was even anything interesting there? It was probably just a bunch of buildings and stuff like the main city anyway. He was also gonna have to tell Priere to do something to mask her scent sometime, if anyone wanted to track her that way it'd be a piece of cake. Then again, all the humans were like that. That "soap" stuff they liked so much made their scents stand out really badly.

"Hey," he said as he finally came to the door of the church, where he saw her waiting. Then he noticed how impatient she looked. "What's the rush?"

The paw Kovu had lifted to start going forward was put back down before he moved. "...Messy?" Messy how? He regarded Priere with a raised eyebrow, not sure what to make of the idea of thing "getting a bit messy." He shrugged though and started walking. Not like she was giving him a choice here...

"Demons?" Kovu didn't want to inquire further. If he remembered right a bunch of the guys living with Simba were demons...and wasn't that girl Beryl he met when he got here one too?

Before he'd had time to think it all out, they were standing in a dark room, lit by flames up and down the sides.

"...Grim," he commented.

"That's...a good thing, I'm guessing?" The place was reminding Kovu of the Outlands, which was less than desirable. "Why would you need guards in a place like this, anyway? Doesn't exactly look easy to get into."

There were only two doors in the place, at either end of the hall, and there was pretty much no way someone could get all the way to the massive chair at this side without easily getting knocked into those flames. If you were gonna put guards anywhere it'd be smarter to put them outside one of the doors.

"Really?" That...didn't make any sense. But lions didn't have throne rooms, they were always with their prides anyway, and even then the King could take care of himself without any guards. Simba sure didn't need all his lionesses to keep him safe.

The...blue...thing caught Kovu's attention quickly. He couldn't place the smell at all, but it was definitely sharp, and hurt his nose a little. "Tell me that's not one of the guards."

"Don't look at me," Kovu answered, more bewildered than she was. "I've never seen anything like that before. And why did it keep saying 'dood'?"

He watched the thing scamper off, and gave up on trying to muse just what it was supposed to be, or why it had even bother coming near them if it was just going to run away like that.

"Lead the way," Kovu said, not even giving a thought to going first. This whole thing was her idea anyway, why should he be the one out in front?

The place smelled really nasty anyway...he couldn't imagine how much worse the next room was gonna be.

"Could you be any louder?" Kovu was having no trouble keeping himself almost silent, even on the stone floors here. Retracting his claws was helping, but it really wasn't that hard...

He just about walked into her when she stopped though. "Hey, what the-?" He noticed she'd gone slack-jawed. "What? What is it?"

[personal profile] thescaronhisface 2011-09-08 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"...Huh?" All Kovu could do was stare in confusion. He didn't have any idea what was going on, or what Priere was talking about. What was Rosen Queen anyway?

[personal profile] thescaronhisface 2011-09-13 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh...all right..." Kovu answered a bit nervously as Priere started to pull him along. What was this place, and why was she acting funny?

"Date? What's a 'date?'" The lion had never heard the term before. As to the gate itself...Kovu had given up wondering about big weird-looking lights a long time ago.

"No?" Not even knowing what it was supposed to be, Kovu couldn't be certain of his answer. He'd looked at the stars with Kiara before, but did that count? And they had done that thing with chasing birds away from Timon and Pumbaa before that...and they'd spent a lot of time together in the park since they came here to Paixao...

But he just regarded Priere skeptically. Why did anything like that matter to her, anyway? Or this demon girl who'd asked in the first place? It was none of their business.

Kovu didn't dignify Priere's sad attempt at an "explanation" with an answer. He and Kiara did stuff together all the time, so what was supposed to make it special? Simba and Nala did too.

He shrugged when Priere told the girl they were going to the market. He didn't know what it was going to be like, but at least it was a word he recognized. He knew was a market was at least from being around the city, but he had no idea what kind of stuff this one was going to have. Everything around here was weird.

But he followed Priere silently, shaking his head.

Looking out over the landscape gave Kovu different ideas about any sort of "next time."

"There's no way I'd bring Kiara to a place like this," he answered, wrinkling his nose at the smell of ash and smoke. The air was thick with it, and the heat was oppressive even for him. "It's worse than the Outlands." Though at least the smell was different.
