Character(s): Ventus, Aqua, and Terra.
Content: The three friends finally reunite.
Setting: Near the apartment where Terra and Aqua were staying.
Time: Afternoon.
Warnings: Cavities and tears are pretty much guaranteed.
Getting those messages was the last thing Ven had expected, and he still could hardly believe it. When he put up that message weeks ago, and hadn't gotten a reply, he thought for sure that Terra and Aqua weren't there. He hadn't been sure when he was going to be able to see them again, or how he would get off this world to make that happen.
But he had been wrong. They were here. He even knew where they were! It had taken every ounce of his restraint not to leave the apartment running, and that restraint vanished the instant he made it to the street.
It felt like it had been ages since he had last seen them. So much had happened...enough that he wasn't thinking at all about how things had gone in Radiant Garden. Right now, that didn't matter.
He just wanted to see his best friends again.

She was still getting used to how Terra and Ventus were here from an earlier time in their timeline--at least, so it seemed. Did it mean that Ven was still right where she left him, right now? Asleep, waiting for her to wake him up? There was little way of knowing till she was able to leave here again and look, but that wasn't an option right now.
Still, she couldn't deny she was excited to see Ven. She couldn't even really hide it, as she left the apartment with Terra. Even for Aqua, it was hard to keep her pace steady. Her feet kept wanting to go faster.

He would as long as they stuck together.
Terra was begging to realize how wrong he was in keeping his distance from his friends, if they would have just stuck together in Radiant Garden would things have been different?

That's when he saw them on the street ahead of him. Ventus picked his head up, and his smile instantly brightened. There they were, right within reach.
"Terra! Aqua!" Joy, relief, simple happiness - all of it seemed to bubble to the surface when he called the names of his friends. He kept running, not stopping until he was finally right in front of them.

Hearing his voice and seeing him run towards him, finally made Aqua pick up her pace, which quickly broke into a run, coming to a stop when he was in arms reach of her. Almost instantly her hands were on his shoulders, mostly to confirm he really was there before her; that she wasn't just dreaming. Looking down at him, her expression was filled with happiness and a great deal of relief.
Seeing those blue eyes and that bright smile, so vibrant and filled with life, was almost too much for her. For a brief moment, she looked almost ready to cry, but this was Aqua. She held herself together for the moment. If she was to cry, he'd likely ask questions and she wasn't sure she was ready to explain to him just how long it had quite possibly been since she'd last seen him.

Terra was right behind Aqua as she ran to Ven, and while he happy to see Ven safe and happy, he didn't quite measure up to Aqua's level of excitement. He hadn't gone through as much as she had.
That's not to say that he wasn't filled with a sense of relief not that Ven was there with them again. As long as they were together, they would be fine, right?
no subject
But...this was Aqua. She was probably fine! He must have been imagining it.
Thankfully, that was when Terra caught his attention, and his thoughts were forgotten. They were here, and they were together. Everything was going to be just fine...as long as Terra and Aqua didn't run off by themselves again.
"You're both really here."

Of course, there were more questions than answers revolving around their meeting. Terra and Ven were here before her and yet... Ven was still also still hidden away in the Land of Departure, sleeping where she left him most likely and Terra... Oh Terra...
It felt a little more like she'd just gone back in time, than just had simply met up with missing friends.

When he looked back over at Aqua, he couldn't help but notice that she seemed... distracted by something.
"Aqua?"
no subject
That's what he hoped, at least.
But worry crept into his smile when he again looked at Aqua. He wasn't the only one who had noticed, either, that something seemed to be bothering her.
"Aqua, are you okay?"
no subject
It took her a moment before she fully realized both Terra and Ven were speaking to her. "What? I mean, yes--I'm fine," she said, stumbling on her words, as she wondered if she'd missed something either of them had possibly said. "More than fine."
She smiled to them both, trying to ease their worries, but she knew full well they knew her too well. It seemed they'd already detected something was up.
no subject
They did know her too well, well enough to know that she only really acted like this when she was upset.
no subject
He meant it - if they were together now, then that's how they would face their problems. Together. Besides, he didn't want Aqua to be upset. This was the first time they had all seen each other in what felt like ages, and he wanted them all to be happy.
no subject
"It's alright. Really. It's nothing," she found herself saying and instantly regretted. Lying to them hurt, but the thought of telling them was even worse. She just wasn't ready to. Aqua wasn't even sure she could get the words out, even if she tried. She felt like she needed to first answer some of her own questions; she needed to find Xemnas and figure out what had happened to Terra's heart.
Aqua attempted to smile at them, trying to show them she was okay. She really was happy to see them both, after all. That was no mask.

"We should go inside," He said, mostly as an excuse to change the subject, then he looked down and Ven and grinned, "and get some hot chocolate?"
no subject
Maybe Terra had the right idea, then. Ven smiled, nodding.
"Yeah, that sounds like a plan to me!"
no subject
Hopefully when she was able to tell them, they could forgive her for holding back at first.
