When the daylight comes [Complete]

Character(s): Gwen, open
Content: Gwen finally gets out of the apartment on her own
Setting: Porfavore's
Time: afternoon, week 26
Warnings: Post-nightly Paranoia? lol

It was good to get out and take a breath of fresh air - as fresh as she could get, at least. She does worry a bit about Laharl; after all, she merely left a note posted where he could see it reading "I've gone out for a little while; don't worry -love Gwen" When he sees it, he likely won't take it very well.

But... Gwen couldn't be in that place anymore. She had chills just thinking about Vyers, and she could barely even sleep in that room. She was exhausted. A home cooked meal from Porfavore's was just what she needed.

With the fog of the night gone, Gwen almost felt silly thinking back on it all, but by nightfall her uncertainties clawed right back through her mind. Maybe Flonne was partially right. Vyers wasn't who he said he was - he couldn't be! Everything about him just seemed wrong and she couldn't figure out why, just that she couldn't be near him.

She couldn't keep going on like this.

Gwen sighs and looks out the window, trying to figure out how she was going to deal with this.

Seated in the next table opposite of Gwen, Reddas had been facing an existential crisis. After the trails and tribulations present in his home world, in the empire of Archadia, he ended up dumbfounded and startlingly alive on the beaches of Paixao. It was a place that provided a well-deserved reunion with a few of his friends, but the strangeness of the natives, the diversity of the visitors, and the pecularity of the environment only left him scratching his shaved head more and more.

Overhearing the sigh coming from the girl just on the other side of his table, he figured he ought to offer something he wanted himself.

"Ere the intrusion too rude to consider, is there something plaguing your conscience?" he asked softly.

"If I may," he said questioningly while cleaning the sides of his lips with a napkin. He rose from the table, dusting off bread crumbs from the pleats of his rose-colored pantaloons. He walked his way over Gwen's table and withdrew the chair across from her.

"Though I bear no wise man's semblance, I would still favor to share my perspective if it be of assistance to you," he asked, sincerity ringing in his voice. He figured that his greying beard would be evidence enough that he was somewhat experienced in worldly affairs.

Reddas smiled at the first part of Gwen's story. "A reunion blessed by fate! Many regards to your fortune," he politely added. He wondered exactly about his own family, but instead chose to remain on topic with his new acquaintance.

The perplexity crossed his face when she spoke of her son's atypical character. "Fear is had that there is much 'off' about Paixao. The city itself bears a fog, literal and metaphorical."

Reddas nodded his head along with Gwen's part of the conversation. "I have heard rumors on this matter. Disconcerting as its effects are, its origins are where the real concerns ferment in my mind." He held back from explaining too much of his nostalgia, but he couldn't bear to not think of the similarities. "This strange mist, it makes my spirit hearken back to the conflict of my homelands. If they are truly alike, the world we live in bears witness to false progress and prosperity. My counsel to you: gather confidence in what should remain true, even in the face of radical evolution."

Reddas noted her offered hand, and took it in his as gently as a precious ceramic work and replied, "My name is Reddas of the Balfonheim Port." He released it as he was certain she needed to go.

As he was beginning to move aside for her, he felt a need inside to speak his mind on at least one more thing. "If further troubles arise, do find me to assist you," he offered.
