It was kind of lonely, sitting here on his own. Okay, more like a lot lonely, not to mention he was bored out of his mind. At least he wasn't hungry anymore. That was good. Buuut his leg still hurt. There were more down sides than up sides to his current situation, but there was one up new up side that outweighed all the bad: Suki was on her way! Sokka really couldn't wait to see her, although his leg was going to take a fair bit of explaining. Yeah, he wasn't looking forward to that so much, but still. It was Suki.

Of course, there was one other thing that was on his mind since discovering Suki was here. If Suki really was from the time of the play, that meant he still didn't know if she had been okay when they'd been split apart on the ships.

Then again, how did that work? If she was from some other time, how come he didn't remember her ever vanishing or anything? Maybe it was someone had screwed with their memories. Argh, none of it made any sense. He probably should have stopped trying to think about it, but he didn't have much else to do.

How many hours had it been now? Probably not as long as it had felt. Sokka had shifted awhile ago to the entrance of the 'tent' trying to keep an eye out for her, but it wasn't long before he slumped against the wall, dozing off.

Suki had gotten an idea of where Sokka was from Riku, so as soon as she had said good-bye to him, she headed out for that section. She was anxious to see him again. It hadn't been very long for her since they'd last spoken, but she missed him anyway. Paixao was a very confusing place already, made worse by the fact that she couldn't read their language. It seemed they all spoke the same way, but written? Nope. Nothing.

So she'd had to ask Riku. Fortunately, he'd been able to tell her, so soon enough, she was looking around for Sokka. It hadn't occurred to her to ask where he would be exactly or what he'd be wearing so she could find him. This was going to be a little more difficult than she'd imagined.

"Sokka?" she called once she was in the area, shading her eyes so she could spot him easier. "Where are you?"

She sighed and sat down next to two rock slabs... belatedly realizing that someone was poking out from them... a tired someone apparently. Suki frowned. "Sokka?" She gently tried to wake him.

fffff forgot to track it /headwall

Suki watched Sokka carefully the whole time he seemed to be waking up and when he finally did, she smiled, relieved. And promptly winced as he hit his head on the rocks above. Concern and worry were next as he looked to be in considerable pain and she wasn't sure what was causing it.

"Sokka? Do I need to get something for your head?" Like a cool compress to stop any swelling for a start.

Suki frowned at the admission that it wasn't his head bothering him. She glanced at his leg and noticed that it really did look odd. Well, she'd thought something was off. But even as curious as she was to hear the story, getting him somewhere that would allow him to rest would be the better option.

"That story can wait. You need to get somewhere you can rest. Don't tell me you've been here the whole time?" She sounded like she was teasing him, and for the most part she was, but there was also a small tinge of worry to her tone and expression.

"Toph did, did she?" Somehow, Suki wasn't all that surprised. Still, that didn't help her much now and it certainly didn't help Sokka. She glanced back at his leg and then moved to a better position, one where helping Sokka up wouldn't be as difficult.

"Come on. I'm taking you to one of the hotels. You need to rest that and a stone hut in the middle of the street isn't going to help."

And if he didn't cooperate, she'd just pick him up and carry him herself.

time skip?

Everything was easier with Suki... Wait...

Suki examined Sokka as he stood up, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and her own around his back. "If this gets too hard on either of us, I'm carrying you." No ifs, ands, or buts allowed.

Actually, if she remembered correctly from Riku's tour, one of the neighborhoods was nearby and that would mean an actual house. This was better than a hotel room. And it was much closer than the hotel. So she turned in that direction and started helping Sokka hop the right way.

"You're hurt, Sokka. I don't want you to be hurt worse because of the move." Suki shot him a slightly worried look, mostly to check on how he was doing over there. He seemed all right for the moment, so she wouldn't push things too much until he really needed it. For now, maybe they could check up on old times and keep some semblance of decent conversation going.

"So, you've been here for a while, right? Do you know of any good places to eat or fun things to do?"

[identity profile] climbswalls.livejournal.com 2010-06-11 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Silly Sokka. While Suki didn't mind catering to his ego for now, she didn't want him to hurt more in the long run. Hopefully this place really wasn't very far. She didn't think it was, but sometimes it was hard to tell in a new place.

"I'm glad you've had something to eat." Suki paused thoughtfully, still helping Sokka along. A minute later she frowned as she realized what he'd said first. "We can try the cafe sometime, but what do you mean you were injured before you came here? What happened?"

[identity profile] climbswalls.livejournal.com 2010-06-16 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Suki frowned as she listened to Sokka explain. That was definitely a bit different from what she remembered. She tilted her head as he stopped and then nodded. "I got it all." Which was true. Suki was pretty used to having to remember a thousand things at once. "But what happened in Ba Sing Se? That was after I went with you across the Serpent's Pass, right?"

[identity profile] climbswalls.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh." That certainly explained a lot, but it also clicked with what she already knew, so that was good. "Right and then we all traveled in the Fire Nation together." Suki stopped as Sokka paused, examining him critically. He was probably wearing out.

"Sokka, are you all right? We're pretty close, but if you're tired, I can carry you the rest of the way."

Suki gave him a look that clearly said she didn't believe him, but she nodded after a minute, redoubled her grip, and continued forward. At least they were really almost there and with luck, there'd be a place on the bottom floor.

"Is there anything else I should know?" she asked as she helped him up to the door and possibly through it if he'd let her.

At least the process of getting a room didn't take long. The guy who looked like he was in charge quickly led them to a first-floor place and Suki wasted no time in finding the bedroom to deposit Sokka.

"Well, first thing after all this is we need to find a way to get your leg mended." And re-bandaged. She looked at it pointedly. "Do you want any water or something?"

To be honest, she was tired now, so she couldn't imagine how he was going to feel. "Are there people around who know more about injuries than I do?" Maybe she could use that journal thing to find out.

A glass of water wasn't hard to come by and soon enough, Suki was sitting down on the edge of the bed with Sokka. "We'll find a way to get your leg fixed better. I guess you should really rest for now. It wasn't easy on either of us to walk that whole way."

And for now, Suki would play the part of bodyguard. It was the least she could do for Sokka.
