when two jerks collide [active/closed]

Character(s): Joshua and Scar
Content: Joshua and Scar meet. This... could be interesting.
Setting: Pride Lands
Time: Week 33
Warnings: ...do I even need to say it?

Joshua had taken to exploring the other floors since his arrive in Paixao. It hadn't taken him longer to figure out the warp spheres, either, so he didn't have to bother wandering through the entire area. He'd had quite a bit of fun in Spira, what with there being actual dead souls around. Apparently that was the source that he'd felt earlier. He'd have to keep it in mind on the way back down, it'd be nice to have something to work with.

He'd made it to the final floor, which he'd seen some things about over the network. So while he wasn't entirely prepared for the shift in form, he wasn't shocked by it with. It took him a moment to adjust, but before long he was more than capable of making his way around the area. This place was... alright, he supposed.

His now very sensitive ears picked up a noise in the distance, and since he hardly had anything better to do, he went over towards it. Maybe it'd be a relief for his boredom.

With so few animals in the Pride Lands, it didn't take Scar to turn again to the hyenas. He was quite close to the Elephant Graveyard, making certain that what few were there were quite aware of his plans--or quite out of the way of them. They were no different from how the hyenas had always been, stupid, annoying, and just barely useful enough to not bother killing. Of course...these ones weren't even real, but Scar was finding that less of a concern. They seemed just as physically and mentally capable as they were in the real Pride Lands, and that was good enough for him. Though...a number of Heartless were required to convince them. They couldn't seem to get over the idea that he should be dead. But then...fear had always been quite the good motivator. Watching the Neoshadows rend one of their friends apart had changed their minds rather effectively.

The Heartless had not yet been dismissed, as Scar was still quite wary that the hyenas would take any chance they could to attempt to kill him again, which he simply didn't feel like being bothered with. He could always just summon them again, but it was better simply to prevent such an unfortunate turn in their little...negotiations.

And speaking of...there was a new scent that reached his nostrils. What would a caracal be doing approaching a lion and a pack of hyenas--however small that pack might be. The cat's mere audacity was intriguing, particularly when the air practically stank of darkness.

"Oh, not at all~" Scar replied with a deadly grin that resembled a crevice full of teeth as much as a mouth. "To what do we owe the pleasure?"

The hyenas all wore their own malicious, predatory smirks, and were turning toward the smaller cat with small fits of laughter. Scar's own smile fell into a rather insincere mockery of a frown at their unsightly behavior.

"Now now, we don't want our little guest to feel worried, do we?" He walked among the small pack, picking one in particular to pat on the top of the head with his paw. "He's only just arrived, we should show him our hospitality~" Again the crevice of a smile broke across his muzzle, teeth bright white and gleaming in the sunlight.

The scents of the city this visitor to the floor carried on him did not go unnoticed by Scar, though he wasn't the least bit surprised that the hyenas were ignoring them entirely--if they'd even bothered to sniff their prey in the first place, which he was rather certain they didn't, considering some of the rotten fare he'd seen them happily consume.

If it weren't for the fact the hyenas were still around, Scar would have dismissed the Neoshadows by now, as they were starting to seem rather restless. They shifted back and forth in place, as if they were rooted to those spots by some unseen force, as they'd been commanded not to move unless Scar was approached.

The hyenas backed down, the laughter more nervous now, and Scar found himself amused at this outsider's cool demeanor. He was likely one of the many overconfident brats who'd been brought to the city, which meant that underestimating him would be unwise. He'd both witnessed and heard about rather dangerous powers some of the visitors possessed, and he wasn't so confident in the Heartless that he was willing to push his luck.

"You may want to exercise more caution in a place like this, I doubt you like the idea of being trampled flat by an elephant just because you found yourself getting curious."

The joke didn't exactly bring a smile to Scar's lips. In fact he found it a rather crude attempt at humor more than anything else. Childish, even.

"I suppose you could call them that," Scar answered with a glace backward toward the Neoshadows. "They're really rather quiet though. Not certain they could really count." He made a show of examining his claws as he held up a paw. "Though it does make them rather good at listening."

"Visiting? Perhaps you could say that. Though they were invited here by the King himself." The hyenas looked back at Scar when he said that, uncertain, but the constant shifting of the shadows behind him made them nod their heads rapidly in confirmation of his status.

Scar rose up to his full height as he continued to speak. "And guests of the King are never treated as strangers. No matter how 'out of place' they might seem." The pride had learned this the hard way when Scar had brought the hyenas to Pride Rock--and one had paid for it with rather dismal consequences.
