What a Pain [Active]
Character(s): Kovu, Priere, Onion Knight, Terra Branford
Content: Kovu gets a thorn in his paw ;.;
Setting: Pride Lands, somewhere in the grasslands
Time: Sunset
Warnings: None expected
Talking with Mufasa had helped Kovu relax more than he was expecting. Especially since the last time that old lion was here everything had gone a lot differently. He didn't know why everyone got so up in arms over things whenever he explained about how he grew up, or why everyone he talked to seemed so interested in it, but Mufasa wasn't even worried about it. Kovu wasn't like Scar. Mufasa definitely wasn't the first one who'd said that, but how long was it gonna take Kovu to really believe it? The only one who'd ever mistaken him for Scar was that idiot human, and Urd had stepped in to help him then...she didn't even know him. No one here knew him, and they were helping him anyway. No one would ever help Scar like that. Kovu just had to kep telling himself that. Nothing that he was supposed to do had ever really happened, and none of it was ever going to. The only thing he really had to worry about now was just making sure people knew which lion was which.
"Hey Priere, wanna see a place that I always liked? It's almost sunset, and the stars should be out pretty soon." If she said yes, he'd just have to make sure not to think about that stupid thing he'd said to Kiara right before he'd shown up here in Paixao. That wouldn't be too hard, right?
But scarcely a moment later, Kovu let out something of a strangled roar. "NGGH! What did I just step on?!" He held up his paw to look at it, and something shiny and metallic was sticking out of it. What was something like that doing here in the Pride Lands? The metal stuff was all over the city, but Kovu'd never seen it anywhere near here.

"Kovu, are you showing me around... or taking me out on a date?" she asked, somewhere between a sigh and amusement. However, whatever was supposed to happen next got cut short rather quickly. "... is that what I think it is?"
no subject
The Knight was relaxing by the water, well, relaxing as much as he could while being stuck in this form, when he heard the strangled roar. His ears perked up and he looked at Terra, "Did you hear that?"
no subject
As the roar sounded in the distance, her head shot upwards, ears perked in the direction it came from. "Did it come from over there?" she took a few steps over, and crouched down, trying to conceal her form in the grass while at the same time attempting to peek over it for a better look. "A lion? And..."
no subject
"I don't know, I don't think I've ever seen something like this before. Nnngh!" He tried to get his teeth around it, but he couldn't quite reach. "How am I supposed to get it out?"
His ears swiveled as they caught the sound of voices, and he sniffed the air. Hyena...and meerkat? And he didn't smell any blood other than his own. He spotted them at the watering hole, not far away at all, but he really didn't think it was a good idea to try to walk with this thing stuck in his paw like that.
no subject
"Oh just yank it out, that should do it," she said, moving to grab it... wait... with what? She sometimes kept forgetting that she wasn't human here, with a definite lack of anything resembling a hand. "Err... we might be in trouble here."
no subject
"Should we try and help them?" He continued. He wasn't about to approach the two very large animals in this tiny form he was in, not without Terra.
no subject
"Let's go see if we can," she said, raising herself out from the cover she'd sought only moments ago. She stood there, studying the two of them now that she had revealed herself... and waited a moment to see how they would react.
"Um. Are you all right?" she asked, raising her voice to cover the slight distance.
no subject
His grumbling was cut short by the hyena stepping out into the open. Was that...green? On her head? And a bow? Well, that explained why she wasn't being cautious...
"Who're you?" Accepting help from a weird-looking hyena (who was probably from the city) wasn't exactly the highest thing on Kovu's list of concerns. Making sure she wasn't going to do something stupid was a little higher.
no subject
However, maybe someone could help after all. She spotted the two smaller animals... one which seemed to have paws that actually could be considered hands. One of them had something on her head, so she assumed at least one of them used to be human... or at least someone in town. And anyway... as big as she was, it's not as if any small animals actually scared her. "Hey, think you can take this sword out of his paw?"
no subject
The Onion Knight slid down Terra's nose and landed on the ground in front of the two other animals. He looked at the sword embedded in the paw of the male animal and he recognized the painted yellow metal.
"That's my sword!"
He grabbed the handle of it and tried to pull it out of the animal's paw. Though it was embedded rather deep in Kovu's paw, too deep for the Knight to pull it out in his own.
no subject
"Ah! We found it!" she was excited, knowing she would even feel uneasy if her weapon was missing -- but quickly relinquished her good spirits when she realized the circumstances of the situation.
The hyena took another half-step forward. She gazed at the knight fondly, realizing that in his small form... he most likely didn't have the strength to pull it out. "Um," she lowered her head down to his level, "maybe I should try?" she asked gently, also looking up towards the lion for consent.
no subject
He shoved his head down toward the meerkat's level. "Maybe you should just shove it in further," he said with a certain venomous edge to his voice. He looked up to the hyena. "If you can actually get it out without making it hurt worse, be my guest."
Kovu's lack of confidence in the idea wasn't hard to see.
no subject
That is... if he could even last that long.
"Kovu," she snapped. "Would you stop whining and be a man about it already!? He's trying to help!" She wasn't angry, in fact, she sounded like a mother or elder sister scolding a child more than anything.
no subject
"No, no. I can get it out." The Knight got a better grip on the sword and pulled with every ounce of his strength. After a while of tugging the Knight finally managed to dislodge the sword in such a swift motion that it sent him stumbling back into Terra's paws.
no subject
Her eyebrows furrowed together as the knight pulled at the sword, then responded with a surpried, "Oh!" when he was sent reeling into her. "Are you all right?" she asked, looking at him from an upside down point of view.
She looked up again at Kovu -- "Is your paw hurt? I can heal it if you're injured..." she offered.
no subject
"Ngh!" he groaned, glaring down at the meerkat. He shook his paw, watching with something of a scowl as a drop of blood fell from it onto the grass. "...Thanks," he said to the tiny animal, sounding only somewhat grateful.
"And what do you mean heal me? Like that one Dagger girl did for Simba?"
I AM STILL RELEVANT!!!
She couldn't help but stare at the small rat as he went flying backwards. Geez, maybe it would have been better to have just left the hyena take care of it... at least it made for a good show... in fact she couldn't help but laugh at the whole thing.
no subject
He pushed his helm back up over his eyes, and looked up at the lion. "She means with a spell." Which was, unbeknownst to him, how that 'one Dagger girl' had healed Simba. The Knight would have offered himself, but he had nothing in the way of Healing spells.
no subject
Clearing her throat, she stepped forward. "That's right," she confirmed what the young knight said. "Um. Did she use something called 'magic?'" she asked approaching the lion with her ears back. Beside him, she sat on her hind legs and lifted her paw. "May I? You won't feel any discomfort. I promise."
no subject
Skeptical, to say the least, he held his paw out to her. If it was the same as what happened for Simba, it would be fine, right?

"Uh...thanks." That was...weird.

She turned to the hyena and smiled. "So your name is Terra? I'm Priere. Thanks again for the help."
